For those who can't navigate past the initial opening of the dialogue box, I couldn't either. So what I did was just put my .jpg file directly onto my harddrive, since that's where the dialogue initially opens up. I had no problem after that.

What's really cool is the cooperation of the public transit out here (I live in SF). BART is running all night instead of shutting down at 1 am- to the East Bay anyway. And there are ferries. The other bridges in the area are really getting congested now, though. Both the Richmond Bridge and Golden Gate bridge to the north and the San Mateo bridge to the south are super backed up. On the other hand, it encourages people not to drive their cars over here, so traffic hasn't been as horrendous as it usually is. But, I agree. It's a 75 year old bridge- you can't just slap a quick fix onto it and hope it doesn't snap. They're really lucky it was only one supporting cable and it only hit three cars and nobody got hurt.

I live in San Francisco (and I can agree with you, OoHelaNatten, Fremont is pretty boring- my ex boyfriend grew up there). I'm sure you've all seen pictures of SF, but I've got some stats for you. County population in July 2007: 764,976 (all urban) County owner-occupied houses and condos: 115,315 Renter-occupied apartments: 214,385 % of renters here: 65% State: 43% Land area: 47 sq. mi. Water area: 185.2 sq. mi. Population density: 16383 people per square mile 2008 cost of living index in San Francisco County: 180.2 (very high, U.S. average is 100)

I have to go with the hometown pride here. San Francisco. The city is built to still be on a human scale, so the buildings are short compared to the huge skyscrapers in New York and Chicago. I love the Transamerica building.

Favorite City Neighborhoods

Being from San Francisco, there are a lot of great places out here. I love the Castro- the hip place for all things gay. There are EXCELLENT coffee shops there. SOMA is cool, too. It's all old factories renovated into pricey lofts. I like the Inner Sunset (Irving Street). It's my neighborhood and there are tons of great places to eat out here, away from all the tourists.
