On the west side of town is the newly built Colbitz City Stadium. It's also the northern end of the Colbitz Airport Monorail and main road to the airport. The monorail passing some light industry and stores. The main passenger terminals. The airport handles mainly international flights. Cargo and general aviation to the east. To the northwest is ILAB Juntura. The base handles C-130s, F-18s, and the Presidential 737. The non-flying part of ILAB Juntura. The whole airport.

I just got back into the game. This time around, I'm creating a realistic looking region that doesn't use huge amounts of custom content. To start off, here's a large picture of Central Colbitz and the surrounding tiles. [6143x2861] Thank you for viewing.

Note: If you bug me enough about not updating, I will update. We continue on to Daloa, picking a small hotel near the train station. Some people decided to check out the nearby nightclub, Twisters. It's quite an interesting sight. The next day, we take Daloa Light Rail to Daloa University (DU). We arrive in Nick's Nook, the relatively new shopping area of campus. At the main building, we meet up with our tour guide. We visit all of the major buildings and some dorms, and then return to Nick's Nook for lunch. After lunch, it was one DLR stop to the Government Center, the governing center of Abbot (Illu'an province) and Daloa. From there, we had an additional tour of both the Municipal Building and the State Government building. Currently the Congress Building and Governor's Street are off limits. Once the tour was finished, we visited the old Daloa City Hall. Once upon a time, all government functions of Abbot were located in this building. The Treaty of Daloa was also signed in this building, marking an end to the Puget Sound War. Once the learning is all said and done, there was (more) shopping/wandering in the sunset. ***I need from you*** 1. Do you see any possible improvements for Daloa? 2. Would you like to continue sightseeing, or continue on to Colbitz? (maybe a third option?) 3. What specifically would you like to see in the next update?

I recently made a bid for the AIN Expo at the Alliance of Independent Nations, which unfortunately failed. So I decided to post it here! Daloa, the third largest city in Illu'a, will try to prove its worth by hosting the AIN Expo 2011. First off, I would like to say "Welcome to Daloa!" The Daloa skyline at night. Sorry guys, no world record tall buildings or giant 24/7 video screens here. We have never been about that since our founding in 1707, our rapid growth after the 1898 Treaty of Daloa, and even as we bid for the AIN Expo. This picture is of Downtown Daloa immediately after the treaty was signed. Instead, we strive to create a harmony with the city and the nature surrounding it. A 15 minute drive west from Downtown Daloa brings us to the Urban Development Boundary. All development beyond agriculture cannot go beyond this boundary without going through a long, bureaucratic process. At the western end of the border, there is the Abbot National Park. Known for rich wildlife and recreational opportunities close to Daloa, all visitors to the Expo can experience the natural beauty of Illu'a. Within the city, there's more fun. First Avenue, the most famous fashion area in Illu'a, is located in Downtown. The Lilastad is one of the older districts in the city, known for a large variety of cultures and the famous Daloa Hot Dog, wrapped in deep fried bacon, and topped with gravy and bread crumbs. Of course there's Downtown, serving the droves of commuters and businessmen that populate Daloa. Going farther north, there is the small town spirit of towns like Cambridge. For those that really like education, the Lordside-Illu'a National Laboratory and Museum is near Cambridge, researching scientific breakthroughs since 1949. Businesses and stores work through the night. The Daloa Waterfront in the early morning. Here, merchants and store owners are preparing for locals and tourists alike. In the meantime, students at Daloa University are preparing for classes. In Daloa, there are a variety of hotels guests can book. For the sake of convenience, I will show you our best hotels in the city. This is a render of the Crown Hotel, slated to be complete by the time the Expo starts. It is the only beachfront hotel within five kilometers of the Expo. The Hotel Pondside is a newly built hotel showcasing a retreat to nature within the city. A variety of trees from local forests have been planted within the hotel-owned park. Inside the building is a gym, a restaurant above a large aquarium, and a small greenhouse where hotel exclusive fruits and vegetables are grown. Right across the street is the site of the Expo (to be revealed soon) For those who don't really care about the free park with the hotel, there is the Comlax by Daloa Station. The Comax (building with the helipad) is the best hotel in Daloa for people on the go. With the fastest hotel broadband in any Daloa hotel, complimentary travel lounges and massages, and convenient transportation access, many come out of the Comax better then when they came in. About a kilometer away from the Expo, this hotel can be easily reached by taxi or Light Rail. From the Hotel Pondside picture, you could catch a glimpse of the Expo grounds. But here, for the first time, is a picture of the full expo grounds! [PICTURE HERE] The Expo grounds are going to be built over an underutilized part of inner Daloa. The site used to contain decaying industry and a freeway interchange. For the Expo, the freeway has been routed underground. All Expo pavilions will be built on the stretches of grass. This open design ensures free creativity when nations decide on their pavilion buildings. At the center of the Expo grounds is the Norman Noblax Center. The Noblax will be a major landmark, gathering place, and event center. For the Expo, taxis and designated shuttle buses will drop off visitors right at the Noblax. This building will house up to four of the Expo pavilions (one of them being Illu'a). All other pavilions will be built by their respective countries on the stretches of grass. With the Daloa Expo Grounds, we took great care to ensure as much integration with the city as possible. This Expo is for the citizens of Daloa as much as it is for the representatives of other nations. I'm sure that many of you are wondering how a city the size of Daloa is going to handle a traffic problem the size of the AIN Expo. Trust me, we have that covered. Daloa Henry Edwards International Airport is the main airport for Daloa and a secondary airport for Colbitz. The airport is able to easily handle 900 plane movements a day. In order to handle the increase in flights, a new International Terminal was built with 10 widebody gates. In addition to the new terminal, the cargo area of the airport has been greatly expanded. All cargo will be loaded and unloaded swiftly and without harm. If the airport goes over capacity, the Illu'a freight network can transfer freight smoothly from three other areas in Illu'a. There are two possible ways to get from the airport to the Expo by mass transit. One way is to take the first completed segment of Illu'a High Speed Rail from the airport to Daloa Station (the one to the right). From there, it is a couple short stops to the Expo. The other way to get to the Expo is to take the X40 bus and transfer to the NDT Silver Line. This is the slower, cheaper option. Expo traffic is planned in Daloa to maximize the use of mass transit. There are six designated places to Park and Ride. If you want to avoid the hassles of Expo traffic, you can park your car at a Park+Ride, then take light rail all the way to the Expo. Trains will run 24/7 with headways as small as three minutes during the Expo. Even with all the transit options out there, some visitors still might want to drive around the city. While not an automobile paradise, Daloa still has a major freeway going through it. The IL30 goes directly from Henry Edwards Airport to Downtown. The first route into Daloa is the Ted Kelley Memorial Bridge. It leads directly into Downtown Daloa. The second route goes across the Ashcroft City Bridge, which leads to off-ramps underneath the Expo Grounds. If you are arriving by tour bus, taxi, or want to drive all the way to the Expo, the main automobile entrance is on the east side. Tour buses and private vehicles park in the upper area of this picture, where they are then shuttled to the Norman Noblax Center. Special taxis can directly access the Norman Noblax Center. If your feet are tired of walking around the Expo, there is a frequent, reliable tram service within the boundaries of the Expo Grounds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is a speech attached to the bid. Hello. I am Edward Pitt, President of Illu'a. As you already know, we are five days away from deciding the city that will hose the 2011 AIN Expo. I would like to say on the behalf of Illu'a that we are eager to welcome the many nations of the AIN to Daloa. Out of all of Illu'a, there is no better city to host the Expo than Daloa. I live in Colbitz, and I have to admit I love it there. But I was born and raised in Daloa for over 35 years, and I know personally the spirit throughout the city. It's a city of bold goals and big dreams, a city that thrives on creativity, a city that shows what is possible in the world. In Daloa, the old and new are blended flawlessly together, making a city that is unique in every way. Millions of people go in and out of the city every year not only for what's at the center, but also for the vast expanses of nature that are part of Daloa's lifestyle. Daloa is already the greenest city in Illu'a, with over 40% of all power generated by renewable sources. We have planned the Expo to be near the city center, accessible from almost everywhere in the city by mass transit. Everyone in our nation, from the small towns to the federal government, is committed to the success of this Expo. The City of Daloa, the Province of Abbot, both houses of Congress, thousands of volunteers from all over the nation, and myself, all support this bid. Illu'a supports this bid. Illu'ans know that if you reach high enough, you can do anything. If you choose Daloa for the Expo, I will promise you that Daloa will make the AIN proud. Thank you.

SPECIAL EDITION - Down Main Street

Holy baloney that took a long time to update. In case you want to know, it's 1% work and 99% laziness. ----- With a new look, we walk down Main Street in Cambridge buying anything that looks good. (?1 = .675 USD [just guesstimate 2/3]) We start at the north of town. The stores are small and a bit on the low end scale. However, we found this amazing electric drumset! Farther south, we approach the main intersection and keep on buying! You spent WHAT on Glee CDs? We're halfway there! There's a typo because that ain't supposed to be caviar. Too late for that. After passing by the police station, fire station, and library (no shopping allowed,) we bought some drinks and watched Community Theater at its best! The rest of the night was spent taking the last train to Daloa. ***I need from you today...*** What do you think about the new style? What should we do at Daloa? Sign up for the Name-A-Town Program! You get to name one town that might appear during this trip. If your town was named in the last trip, you are disqualified. -
I'm testing out this concept where I show you the elaborate plans I have for everything that never appears in a normal U-Build-It update using some experimental stylistic things. I would like to introduce you to Cambridge as a whole. The red boxes indicate the parts that you may have seen from U-Build-It. HERE and HERE. Note that the boxes are not 100% accurate. And now for the explanation of the area. The town of Cambridge is supposed to be a resting point for travelers from Daloa to northern Illu'a. It continued to flourish as a very small town until the railroad was built straight through it. From there, Cambridge expanded to around the present ring/bypass road and freeway. In the 1960's, suburbanization creeped in, along with a large contract for a laboratory. Within a decade, new construction surrounded the old town. Today, the core is considered the 'center' of the entire area along with the laboratory.

SPECIAL EDITION - 7th/8th Day of Christmas+Trixie!
emgmod posted a City Journal entry in U-Build-It (110% Interactive)
----- Before you get to see the next update, I would like to inform you that the mega mosaic that I made (Update 44) has won me a Trixie! ----- We leave Newport on the next Translink Rail train. The route crosses over the the Sparkling River Bridge, commonly known as that diagonal bridge. As the train slows down towards Cambridge, a light snow beings to fall. After waiting in the snow a bit, a the bus service called Ride arrives and takes us to the Lordside-Illu'a National Laboratory and Museum. We get off and enter the Visitor's Center, the building on top of the picture. Next to the Visitor's Center is the dome... thing... (I only did it to show Windspear Arena turn into something science looking) We end our time in the laboratory with lunch at the Illu'a Modern Art Center. In case you couldn't see it in Picture 3, I made a bus skin for this update. (We take the bus service back to Cambridge for some shopping later on in the day.) ***I need from you today...*** Like that snow? I'm trying this technique for the first time. Continue shopping at Cambridge or chug on to Daloa? Sign up for the Name-A-Town Program! You get to name one town that might appear during this trip. If your town was named in the last trip, you are disqualified. -

Update 3: Route 27, The end of the world, and Dust bowls
emgmod posted a City Journal entry in U-Build-It (110% Interactive)
[Facing West] Town Hall, the rail station, and the commercial area. I'm thinking of adding a gas station here. [Facing North] City Council decided to redesign the farms so fences could be built. Playing Whack-A-Mole with Pedrina farms is annoying in this area. [Facing East] At the request of a few townspeople, Invernessen convinced the United Republic of [name3] that parts of Route 27 need upgrading. A stretch of road south of Invernessen was chosen to be the first part upgraded by the [name3] Highway planners. [Facing East] Construction started quickly, with a bypass road being built first. [Facing East] Then an unnecessary amount of land was turned into a construction site. [Facing North] The new RHW was being built faster than expected. [Facing South] Problems stared occurring when the construction crew encountered the first curve in the upgrading project. No matter how much they laid out the roadway, the smooth curve of the old Route 27 cannot be replicated using the RHW. [Facing South] Deciding to ignore the problem, the workers continued until they tried to build the first fractional angle stretch of RHW. When they were about to lay the asphalt, a problem happens and construction is stalled. First, the bulldozers broke down. Then a fire broke out near the construction. The next time they tried building the FARHW, a tornado popped out from nowhere, took away the equipment, then immediately disappeared. The [name3] Highway Planning Division gave up on the project a week later. One road engineer suggested a theory as to why they cannot create fractional angle RHW. Whenever they complete a segment of FARHW2, the NAM boson time travels from the future to prevent it from happening. Future: 1 [name3]: 0 Focusing on the next problem, Invernessen City Council addresses their next problem: The large amount of dust bowl farms. This prompted them to demolish any farms with only dirt. They are deciding to keep farms barely producing anything for now, but might decide to remove them. ***I need from you today...*** -Should I use a Blocker on Maxis farms? -Need... More... Farm... Plugins... -Should there be a passenger rail service between Invernessen and the rest of [name3]? If so, name a train automata I can use. -Want a gas station in Invernessen? -Who wants to have a road named after them? -Where to expand the farms? -US or Euro road textures? -

SPECIAL EDITION - New Newport Point
emgmod posted a City Journal entry in U-Build-It (110% Interactive)
We start our journey on a Translink Rail train heading to Colbitz. We got off at Newport Point (I changed the name from Newport. There isn't a port anywhere Newport Point.) Just like last time, a shuttle bus met the train at the station to move tourists to the base of Newport Point Hill. The bus dropped us off, and we started the hike up the hill. Hm... It seems as if the top has some campgrounds now. The people running the fire ritual couldn't do it the night we came because somebody called "The Game" wouldn't allow the fire to light up (darn you PEG nightlighting). Oh well. We gazed at the stars and rented out a camping spot. Tomorrow will be the last day in uninterrupted nature... Early the next morning, we took a shuttle bus back and ate breakfast at one of the stores. Those were some good pancakes... And off we go to Cambridge(or Daloa) ***I need from you today...*** What do you think of New Newport Point? Should we stop at Cambridge or skip it and go to Daloa? Sign up for the Name-A-Town Program! You get to name one town that might appear during this trip. If your town was named in the last trip, you are disqualified. -
I'll just leave this photo edited in-game plane in here...

SPECIAL EDITION - Rail Trip Day 2
emgmod posted a City Journal entry in U-Build-It (110% Interactive)
When we waited for the 9:00 train, a red double decker train arrived. While it was still a southbound Adraman Local, Illu'a National Railways replaced some of the rolling stock with seasonal trains. What's a better way of celebrating the Holidays than free upgraded view? Merry Christmas! The rail splits into two STR tracks because I wanted it to. This is about the halfway point between Newport and Lordside, the next town. The train here passes a small lake and a cottage, built in 1931. It's a historical landmark. Aside from the passing rail line and dirt pathway, the cottage is isolated from contact. And another picture to show you how isolated it is. To the right, there is our train. To the left, the dirt area is the area where the trail starts. You can see parts of the trail if you look closely. Most travelers don't get to see the cottage by road. Only people that decide to take the trail or are paying attention on a southbound Adraman can see the cottage. If you noticed, I am using multiple image hosting sites so if one site doesn't work, some of the images will still be here. The picture in my signature is hosted in three sites, and I will switch it out of Imageshack decides to randomly delete it. The train nears the next stop, the Daloa Oil Fields. I think I should explain the diagonal bridge a bit. You can plop puzzle pieces on water. I just used the diagonal onslope and the diagonal rail pieces to make the bridge. The Daloa Oil Fields. About 30 years ago, someone found out that oil was around this area. An oil company bought out the land, and placed oil wells to extract the oil. At the turn of the century, the oil well was almost empty. The company is abandoning the wells by January 2010, and Illu'a National Railways is considering not servicing this station. The train stops for a few minutes, picks up two passengers, and then leaves the crumbling oil wells. For the first time in a while, the railroad is almost parallel to Route 27. Next up are the dual towns of Cambridge/Lordside. And a border line, so you can tell which is which. The population of both towns is estimated at 17,500 sims. Our train approaches Cambridge, with a square farm to your right, and suburbia to your left. The Cambridge 8th Avenue viaducts were built to grade separate the commuter, regional, and intercity trains passing through Cambridge, when automobiles weren't widespread. Now they are considered a part of Illu'a history. Our train stops at the Cambridge/Lordside station. Here, we have to decide if we should get off, or continue our journey. A brochure shows the attractions around the area. First, there is the Lordside Research facility. Next, there are stores in Downtown Cambridge, near the station. The Lordside Downtown was made to look historic, with stores facing a pedestrian mall. Finally, the Cambridge Municipal Airport is nearby, where we can take an airplane or helicopter and have an aerial tour of Daloa. Right now, the choice is yours. You can choose if we should explore, or if there is something better farther south. The time when the train arrived at Cambridge/Lordside is 4:30 PM. ***I need from you today...*** -VOTE: Should we get off at Cambridge/Lordside? -If you have an idea for the trip, PM me. If it requires Plugins, send me the links to the plugins. -Who wants to have a road town named after them? -Any Plugins that seem relevant to the area we are heading to (Suburbs and a city) -
Thank you for all your comments, as a reward, you get an update!

Well guys, it has been a remarkable year for U-Build-It and its viewers. What started with a single post with a few words has blossomed... into... a huge... 8.13 megabyte picture. (800x14600) CLICK IF YOU DARE How do you follow up something like that? You can't. However, I am offering a couple major choices. Question 1: Take another rail trip or not Let's face it, seeing the same sights gets boring after a while. How about an improved trip down to Colbitz? I heard that we can get tickets to see AINvision. (The AIN's Eurovision) Question 2: US or Euro road textures? Originally, I had Euro textures. However, I switched them out when the NWM was released because of the lack of Euro textures. Now that there are Euro textures for all roads, should I make the switch or not?

Welcome back. I'm making the growth of Invernessen since we got back in stages. First off, I never connected East and West Invernessen in the pictures. Now, for the first time, the entire town of Invernessen. As you can see, the border made me neglect growth in West Invernessen. Here is the plan to compensate for that. The farms highlighted in red will be demolished for houses and stores. More farms will be built to compensate. The plan for paving over one of the two farms. Invernessen Airfield. I built it in the flattest stretch of land I could find near Invernessen. Somewhat based on the actual Invermere Airport\ And here's the ploppable lake wood requested. The lake zoomed in a bit. And the Region View, showing everything so far. ***I need from you today...*** The Game Simulator keeps on spewing Maxis houses. I need more custom houses. Either that, or a low stage Residential blocker. Where to expand the farms? Sign up for the Name-A-Road Program! You get to name one road in Invernessen.
