  1. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4314: INCREDIBLY stormy weather last night. The girlfriend and I were women up at about 2:30am by the thunder, and we watched the lightning. Flooding all around the city this morning.
  2. Feminism

No, it makes a lot of sense. It reminds me of the controversy generated when Kick-Ass was released; Chloe Grace Moretz delivering lines full of swearing when she was only 11 at filming. By the way, I'm going to merge this with the Feminism thread and bring it all under the one roof. Merged.
  3. I know that this is all opinion, but based on what you listen to there are a few genuinely surprising omissions: New Radicals - You Get What You Give Sonic Youth - Schizophenia Soundgarden - Either Black Hole Sun, Superunknown or Burden in my Hand R. E. M. - Everybody Hurts Might have to do my list soon.
  4. Ask a forumer anything...

Is this a reference to Columbine massacre? Whether you feel like the perpetrators were lost souls or just bullies or whatever, something should have been done to prevent that and the system failed. What's the gun laws/culture like in your country?
  5. The Obituaries Thread

Former Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam dead at 98. A very interesting character in politics, he came to power after 23 years of Liberal (right wing) rule. Notable for being involved in the 1975 Constitutional Crisis, where he was controversially sacked from the office in an attempt to resolve the deadlock. http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/the-pulse-live/former-prime-minister-gough-whitlam-dead-at-98-20141021-3ii1t.html
  6. If your parents are worried about you using up all the data by downloading mods, maybe talk to them about getting a limit for you? Like say 100MB a month etc. Otherwise maybe write down a list of all the mods that interest you, and download them under their supervision? I can understand their worries and even my family is wary when I download on the family computer. Just my two cents though.
  7. What comes to mind when you think about this country?

    System of a Down. Netherlands.
  8. The ones that never made it to STEX

Actually Toothless, i don't think it's naive at all (it MIGHT, MIGHT be calling it a little early), but i think it's being kinda realistic i mean just look at the track record of brilliant BATTERS that become less active then just stop updating/uploading work altogether and going MIA, there's quite a few couple, of perfect examples are Paulmontfort he teased us by posting some new work in progress on a new Hong Kong building...then NOTHING since, also Darknono he started posting less and less because of real life now he has been MIA for months, and finally Kellydale again real life got in way, new job ect he had heaps of work in pipeline he had been MIA AGES and i think we ALL doubt we will see anymore uploads from him. RDQ has come back on the scene as of about 5 minutes ago Some members come and go. Some say why and some dont, but most importantly some come back. I'm sure he was just bogged down with a lot of RL stuff and hence things went on hiatus.
  9. Show us your City Transit Maps!

http://yoshisplayground.tumblr.com/image/99717738393 Thus here is a hand drawn map of what may end up being a new part of my city. Good to plan things out a little.
  10. The 10,000 Post thread V3

    4273: Greetings from Melbourne?
  11. Hollywood!

Check the download file to see if it's GROWABLE or PLOPPABLE. Ploppable lots will appear in your landmark folder.
  12. "Big City Tutorial" is probably the closest you are going to get to a scenario like those in SC2000. Rendered and built maps aren't allowed on Simtropolis (due to potential plugin conflicts).
  13. Post your picture here II

Another Simtropolis meetup! This time a solid 5 members turned up and we went for burgers and coffee! (From left to right: Durfsun, City_Master, me, __a, eggman. Got these two off guard!
  14. Show us your Railroads!

    Heitomat! Are you back????
  15. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4250: I had a $28 burger last night. Was extremely filling and I couldn't do it in one go. Quite nice though.
  16. Scottish Vote Rigged?

Would it be in the UK's interests for Scotland to remain? YES. Would they have interfered with the results to ensure that? Probably not. Independent opinion polls stated that the referendum was too close to call. Although the NO vote was larger than I was expecting, there were definitely many Scots who were against the seperation of the union. Also, referendums have been known to fail. Quebec has voted no twice and my country Australia voted no to becoming a republic about 15 years ago, even though polls showed a yes majority. Although the majority of people here would have preferred a republic over our constitutional monarchy, many had questions about the way it were to be implimented and probably changed to a no vote to keep with what they knew. This may have been what happened in Scotland, where the overall wanted independence but were sketchy about the details of implimentation.
  17. Life with out taxes!

To me, the issue I have is that I believe my taxes are going to the wrong thing. I would rather infrastructure and more healthcare than have my money go into defence.
  18. The EastLink hotel has no access roads, no habitable floors and just a stairwell. It's more "art" than building
  19. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4243: I bought a dashcam yesterday and am loving it! Who wants to see my home-uni commute? (at 5x speed of course; it is a 60 minute drive).
  20. 2 officers stabbed, one other man shot dead in Endeavor Hills tonight. Potentially over counter-terrorism operations. This is quite scary for me personally as I have a friend who is based at this station, and I'm hoping he isn't involved.
  21. The English Language is Dividing America

Keep in mind, the most well known Australian accent is one of the least spoken, except in the rural areas. Here accents tend to be not geographically based but divided on lines of class or whether you live in a city. Like many here, I speak general Australian, of which I understand most colloquial speech but use only the most common. My accent generally speaking on a lower level, is the Melburnian accent. I make practically no difference between "salary" and "celery"!
  22. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4221: Well people here get the Southern Cross tattooed on their bodies. Hey! I just found out I can check in to Ramsey St (from Neighbours) from my girlfriend's house!
  23. Scottish Separation

Regardless of any implications, positive or negative, I still believe all peoples should have the right to self-determination. If Scotland want's to do their own thing, so be it. I don't want to see another Northern Island over this.
  24. The 10,000 Post thread V3

4207: The liquor laws in America don't make sense to me. I have been legally allowed to drink in my country for nearly two years ago, but I'm still considered under age for over there.
