I play the SimCity DeLuxe version These are my specs : Processor Type: Intel Pentium D 820 / 2.8 GHz : Dual-Core Chipsettype: ATI Radeon Xpress 200 / 800 MHz 1 Gigabyte DDR II SDRAM Graphics ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series, 64 MB Swap file is set to 1440 Mb ( standard, i never changed it ) Game settings: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Hardware rendering Color quality 16 bits Visual effects, # of cars/sims and shadows are set to medium Building draw speed, texture quality and city detaila are set to high All 5 checkboxes ( clouds/Fog, waves etc. ) are "checked".. The game is running fine, no problems whatsoever I do think however you should always install the latest patches And you can set it to the highest resolution with 32 bit colors, but that will surely slow your computer down, but will you see the difference in quality ?? I have regions with large cities, packed with buildings and the game is still pretty fast

Huh ?? My simcity_1, 2, 3, 4, 5 dat files are in the main program folder, not the plugin sub folder. Thats where they go when you install the game and the game works fine with me. Putting them in the plugin folder is probably a work-around that seems to work but they are not supposed to be there. The problem must have been something else.

ilikehotdogsalot, you don't put them in a folder, you have to run them, they are programs. And make sure you have the original simcity_1.dat in your program directory.

There are 2 patches ( upgrades ) you need to run so downloaded buildings have nightlighting. First the "UPDATE_SKU2_TO_P1_B638.EXE", then the "SC4UpdateBAT.exe". I can't recall where i downloaded the 1st one.. just search for it... The 2nd one can be found on the origina"simcity.ea.com". Its under Cool stuff, Building architect tool, Simcity 4 update ( 14.4 MB ). Make sure you have the original Simcity_1.dat in your program directory otherwise you will get an error message.
