Dethkwok's Custom Buildings: Suburbia, USA: First set released!
nicolasville replied to DethKwok's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
These are beautiful houses and they look great in my city. I do however think that the L3's and probably the L4's as well should be a bit bigger, so they fill out the lot a bit more. They look to my eye to be just a tad bit underscaled compared to similar houses in the game. -
Whooops! Thanks for telling me, the new layout has me a bit confused! Could a mod kindly move my post? [Moved - CaptCity]

Hey all, after playing my region for quite some time I've found myself to be running out of room. Is it possible to expand the borders of my region/add more cities tiles without corrupting the data of the cities I've already built? I've already dabbled in modifying config files and using SC4 terraformer to create regions, etc, and I've already custom-terraformed several regions, but I've never ran into this issue before.

One thing I'd want: easy rezoning. The current game doesn't allow for rezoning; you have to destroy the existing buildings before you rezone. I think that would allow for a much more realistic building process, as the older parts of town would become the denser parts, not vice versa.

The SimCity 5 Thread (Formerly "Is SimCity 5 Ever Coming Out?").
nicolasville replied to xterra09's topic in City-Building Games
Honestly, I don't think that EA is going to put the time and the effort to make a new SimCity. I believe the only realistic solution is for a new company, much like Monte Cristo, to make a brand new game. Cities XL was a step in the right direction: the 3D was there, and I'd like to see graphics of that sort be implemented in the next-generation city-building game. However, the gameplay was too vanilla; it lacked the quirkiness and moddability, as well as the warmth, of SimCity 4. It'd be great if we could get a company, or if a serious group could form one, like Maxis was, to work on a "SimCity 5" of some sorts. Perhaps a company could even buy the rights to SimCity so they could use the name for the following games (although that's extremely unlikely). I'd put all hope into a third party developer, because EA simply doesn't care at the moment. Ooh, and by the way, Cities XL has started work on a 2012 version... hopefully it'll be more than a light improvement. I'm not expecting anything grand, though. -
Did you go to this via a link? I've noticed the same problem when accessing a link from inside the site. I guess the only way to fix it is to log in and try to access the page through the libraries. Try asking on SimPeg's forums, if you haven't already.

$700 can actually get you a heck of a lot of computer for your money. I recently bought a $400 refurbished PC that came with Windows 7, 4 GB of RAM, and a pretty adequate video card. You definitely want Windows 7; SimCity works great on it for me. You might not be able to use some older applications for SimCity (Like SC4 Mapper), but 7's just a way more feature-filled, faster operating system than simple XP.

Are you running a dual core machine? I've found that limiting SimCity 4 to one core drastically reduces crashes (I use Startup Manger, by the way.) I haven't had a crash since making that tweak.

Whats the biggest pop you've had in 1 city?
nicolasville replied to gcaver's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
So far my biggest is about 380,000. Not very good when you look at people with million-plus populated cities, but still a start. -
SC4 Startup Manager - manage your plugins!
nicolasville replied to Andreas Roth's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Hi, I'm having some issues with Startup Manager. First of all, I run a Windows 7 64 bit (I heard it might have problems with it). The program itself works fine, as I was able to create profiles and choose my plugins with no problems. However, when I tried to start the game from the startup manager, the window pops up, saying it's initializing "sumnjserver'...but then it freezes and i have to close the program on task manager. I tried switching "sumnjserver" and "sumfmserver" in the configuration file, but now when I try to open the region, a window pops up that reads "Datei 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins Disabled\Reintegrate.vbs' kann nicht erstellt werden Access is denied;" and the second aforementioned window pops up, now saying that "sumfmserver" and the file manager server has worked, but it stays on "hide relevant files" for the longest time until I run out of patience and just close the program. Although I am an administrator on the computer, I have had some weird access problems with windows 7 in the past. I'm really hoping to find an answer to this mystery, as I am very excited to start using this incredible program. -
Alas, I have the same problem happening at around 100,000-150,000. My guess is that it must be commute time.

I'm pretty sure I saw a rack of SimCity 4 Deluxes on the bargain bin at my local Target for 9.99 recently. Don't bother buying the SimCity Box unless you want Societies.
