  1. I get a warning from Windows that the file poses a virus threat. I am sure it is fine but can you maybe sort out why your file triggers this warning. I won't install it for now. Thanks
  2. april 1st Prop Pox Exterminator

    Haha. Nice. We all wish.
  3. Sure do some coastal work to allow some ports and seawalls if you would like. This type of terraforming happens in the real world all the time.
  4. Absolutely make other connections if needed
  5. Concerning this, can we move where the connection is made? For example on the central tile, the left rail connection is way to close to the water to be efficient, can I move it further in land? Sure reposition them if you want. They just have to exist. Have fun!
  6. Change the names if you wish Ganaram
  7. I know, I know. YOUR, not YOU'RE. Derpy Sunday. I have asked the moderator to edit the title as I can't seem to do that. Title fixed. Good Luck!!!
  8. In like a lion or in like a lamb? Either way, March is upon us, and so is another monthly challenge! Last month we had high expectations from builders and for some it was a tough job to complete within the time allotted. Being a shorter month on the calendar didn't help either. This month hopefully will lead to more entries as the restrictions and rules are less strict. Choose you're own Hamptonshire! - You are presented with a 9 tile region. Your task is to select ONE of the tiles of your choice to build on. If stubs exist in the tile they must be left in place. Some tiles have less land to build on while some have challenging waterways or terrain. For those with a little less time to work on the challenge you may want to choose a smaller land area to complete. Remember, just because the tile is 'large' doesn't mean that you have to fill the whole tile with RCI zones etc. Try keeping some green space or forests to help fill out the rest of the landscape. Hopefully we see some different developments within the region and when the final entries are posted we could imagine blending participants entries together. Have fun reticulating your splines! Rules: Stubs indicate where regional connections must exist but the capacity for the RHW is totally flexible. You can adjust the stubs as well if needed. No major terraformingTo help save our builders some time, water pipes have all been pre-laid and you are provided with 10,000,000 simoleans. Delete the pipes if not wanted.Download The Region Here Required Mods: The NAM will be needed to compete in this challenge. We suggest NAM 32 as this will give you the most stable and feature rich experience, however you may use older version though this could put you at a disadvantage. Submission Dates: This thread will be open for submissions until midnight pacific time on the 31st of March. Voting will then be open for a week which will declare a winner. Following this the winner will have the month to create the rules and any appropriate files for the following months challenge. The winner of this month will create the challenge for May, the winner of April will create the challenge for June etc. If you don’t think you will be able to get time to set up a challenge for the following months, then try not to enter, however we will have some ready to go if unforeseen circumstances mean you can no longer help out. Installation: Really simple, most of you will know how to do this, but just a quick recap. Move the entire folder, which can be downloaded from the link above, into your regions folder. Thats My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions on windows and Documents/SimCity 4/ Regions on mac. Launch the game and load the region. Submission Requirements: Like last month we will be restricting the size of one image. Thats a regional view of the city which shows how everything is arranged and created. Now, heres where things get complicated. These will be at an aspect ratio to 4/3, or multiples of 800 px wide by 600 px high. You can make the images at a higher resolution than this, 1600 x 1200 for instance would be acceptable, however we are restricting the aspect ratio so that the built-in ST image resizing will shrink the images to around one image per screen. We hope this will keep things fairer. Additional images or video can be of any other size, however these will be hidden inside a spoiler tag in the voting thread So, an aspect of 4/3 or multiples of 800 by 600 will be accepted for one main image. We will only accept multiple images or videos, so long as the main image conforms to the requirements above. One view of the whole city tile or region and any other views of the city in a ratio of 4/3 or multiples of 800 by 600 for main image.Additional images or video can also be supplied of any size which will be hidden by a spoiler tag in the voting thread.Post your questions here and good luck! I hope it's a fun terrain to work with!
  9. Here is my entry but since I created the challenge I am not sure it can be submitted to be voted on. Good luck all! For those wondering about the March challenge, it will be less intense and more flexible for those who have less time to create their entry for the month. Hopefully we will get more entries that way. Stay tuned!
  10. Hope to see more entries for this but time is getting short! I am going to post an entry although as the creator of the challenge I don't think it can be judged. Let's see some cool stuff guys!
  11. Edited to adjust date. Plant trees, create adjoining cities on adjacent tiles if you wish. Only images of 'Build Here' tile will be judged. Have fun!
  12. Monthly Challenge February 2015 Show off your bridge and interchange skills Well it's a deep freeze here in Canada's capital, but the February challenge is about to heat up! For the February challenge we are getting back to one of the more popular engineering tasks that city builders like to complete and admire, interchanges! Our 'Build Here' city is located at the mouth of a couple of large tributaries that flow out into a large southern sea. Bridges or tunnels will be needed to get your highways over the waterways and real estate will be tight to complete the connections. New to this challenge is a population requirement. We are looking to see at least 40,000 sims lay down roots in 'Build Here'. As well we are looking to see some sort of industrial seaport as the city is located in a prime location to allow for large sea going vessels. Rules: Stubs must remain where they are and the capacity they are or greater. For example, in a previous challenge, Haljackey wanted to convert an RHW4 to an RHW6 and that would be just fine. All four RHW networks must be accessible to each other in some way. Whether that's one large interchange or multiple interchanges, it's up to you!For rail stubs they need to remain in place but the rail routes within the tile can go wherever the user wishes.Population must be 40,000 or greaterThere must be some sort of seaport - simple or complex, totally up to the designerTeraforming is limited to coastal development to allow you to build your seaports - no major teraforming to create mountains, large lakes etc.Required Mods: The NAM will be needed to compete in this challenge. We suggest NAM 32 as this will give you the most stable and feature rich experience, however you may use older version though this could put you at a disadvantage. Submission Dates: This thread will be open for submissions until midnight pacific time on the 28th of February. Voting will then be open for a week which will declare a winner. 13. I submitted the challenge for February to Hamish on Friday and I think it will provide a good chance for people to show off their skills. There are some rules to sort out still but stay tuned for it's release on Feb 1st! I am not sure that the creator of the challenge can compete but I'll still complete the tile for fun anyway
  14. That’s awesome! Excellent entries from all competitors! I have to thank others who have provided a lot of tips/tricks/inspiration/tutorials both through posts on this site and videos on YouTube. Haljackey – Too many hours spent watching BACFS on one screen while building my own region on another. Nice to see that even the pros have frustrating builds. Hole to China anyone? MandelSoft – Noro Co-Op Videos with great rural scenes/communities/burbs/interchanges are all fantastic. Inspired me to download all dependencies required for seasonal trees and install a more realistic terrain mod. Grid-less design anyone? And Hamish thanks for setting up this comp. Great to see all the creativity from others building on the same tile. I think it shows why this game is still around after all these years. It allows for endless diversity in design. Thanks for the award! Good luck to all participating in the January challenge! PS - If I am responsible for setting up the February challenge, and you are looking for another chance to show off your interchange building skills, get ready for it
  15. Final Entry! Remontovati (Croation for 'rebuild, repair, overhaul') struck by tragedy years in the past, generations of citizens have rebuilt a thriving community. Have fun all! Additional Photos:
