Date: 11/6/2005 12:11:27 AM Author: Ratieya455 I never cared for Vanilla Coke, and agree that it tastes oversweetened. I love Coke with Lime, though, because the lime makes it more refreshing. I miss Mountain Dew Pitch Black, the original. Pitch Black II has way too much flavor, and it throws off the perfect balance of the original one. Why keep Code Red and Livewire but ditch Pitch Black?quote> yeah, I don't get that. Livewire tastes like friggin Sunny D! ewwww... Code Red isn't bad, though. I also like Pepsi Twist, but THE ABSOLUTE BEST soft drink of all time is Faygo Black Raspberry. BTW, have any of you ever had Dr. Slice? It sounds made up, but it's not. I've only had it at one place: Crown Candy in St. Louis... It tastes like Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, but WAY better.

The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

haha, thanks for remembering. They say memory goes with age.. it can't be that bad if you can remember to greet me. Our team played water polo once during winter break, as a fun practice. It was a lot of fun; wish I could play it more. Other than that, though, water polo is a seperate interscholastic sport at my school. I don't plan to play it, though - I have track instead during spring season. Defcon - what's your major stroke? One big thing I forgot to mention: while shaving some chocolate to sprinkle on the top of a Christmas trifle, I accidentally shaved about 2 mm off the tips of my right hand's middle and 4th fingers. It wasn't too bad of an injury, although it might take awhile to heal. The worst part of it is seeing a chunk missing out of your fingers... -

The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

*pokes head in* Well, plenty of stuff in my life going on recently. I joined my school's swim team, so I'm learning the ropes right now. Unfortunately, we only had about 2 weeks of practice before our first competition. Needless to say, I didn't win anything... Hopefully, I'll catch up by later in the season. How was New Year for y'all? Apparently, a lot of people like to fire their guns in the air on New Year's. I had no idea, I only found out because the Chicago PD put an announcement against it on the radio. Who knew? I was thinking about it - The bullet has to come down at some point, and according to the laws of physics, when it returns to the ground, it's going just as fast as it was when it was fired. Not to mention shotguns, where the pellets could hit the ground anywhere. People amaze me with their stupidity. -
Converting Planes for SimCity.

Date: 1/1/2006 11:19:49 PM Author: Fairlane500 Unfortunately the wing markings are to small to have shown up detailed, and I think my scale is a little off. I was wondering, do you have any suggestions on how to create a texture that would incorporate windows for the cockpit and markings such as stripes down the side that could be applied to an aircraft such as an airliner?quote> If you're not satisfied with the model for the CT-133, I can create a full-3d model for you (like the cars and trucks on the roads). The only downside is that you don't get shadows on the ground. As for the airliner - the problem with cockpit windows is that they are on an oddly-curved area of the plane, and there's no real systematic way to do it by texturing. The best way would be to do it with an actual part of the model underneath the texture. The best way to do it would be to detach the cockpit from the rest of the fuselage and texture it seperately. Texture the cockpit with a frontal view, but then texture the fuselage with a side view. You're entering the BAT world the same way I did - with an imported airplane model. Seriously, a B-1B was my first release on the STEX. -

Great job! You have to put your plane at 0,0 or it'll appear off the lot. I dunno about the only viewable from one angle problem. -
I'll take Karybdis off the list, if you guys don't mind. He's quite busy with other stuff ATM. A few weeks ago, he asked me to make a 1x1 lot for him since he didn't have enough time to do it himself.

Canadian aircraft? No kidding! I made a UDI Snowbird (CT-114) for personal use. Those have the coolest paint scheme.... -

Yes! My favorite area of modding. See my thread . Well, if you can get it in 3ds format, great. If not, then you have a bit of work to do. Only certain MSFS models are convertable. You need aircraft that use the MDL format.(IE, older ones. the most recent ones use BGL) Also, you need to find BGLs that were NOT created by the MSFS plugin pack for gmax. (There's a tool called MDL2DXF that is my lifeblood. This does the converting.) Once you have the model in DXF format, you can import into the BAT. Textures are trickier. Some older aircraft have textures as unencoded BMPs. These are useful, but they tend to be low-quality. What I do is extract encoded textures from newer aircraft and put them on the older models. To do this, you need a certain program that comes with the MSFS gmax plugin pack. You can open the encoded BMPs, then save them as unencoded BMPs that gmax can use as textures. Making them into automata is a process that requires pay software at one point, so I won't go into that right now. -

The mom from that show, Dinosaurs, that was on while back. That was a great show - dinosaurs in a family sitcom, ala Raymond. Whatever happened to that, I wonder? -
Illwitted. Tricking people rules. NDEX or BSC?

My favorite is definitely Calvin and Hobbes. Everything about it is intelligent. I also like Dinosaur comics (web). I absolutely hate Kathy, btw. *shudder* As for the Family Circus: I always liked the art, it's really cute. As for the subject matter; not so good.

Those problems are caused by a smoothing group error. You probably have a zigzag in your spline. If you do, try to fix it. Also, try a Smooth modifier with Auto Smooth checked.

Yeah, there is a limit to the amount of objects you can put on a lot. I believe it's 255 (not including the building, which has to be there). That limit includes all objects: props, TE tiles, textures, flora, water/land. What I would recommend is to delete the base textures from the parts of the lot that are covered by the BAT model. It looks like you've got a ton of base textures under there that you never see in the game. Unfortunately, LE won't let you save lots without base textures... So you'd have to find a clever way around that.

Starchitect Discussion Thread

Art with shock value needs to have underlying meaning, or it's pointless. That meaning has to be something you need to think about, not the kind of overt sycophantic crap that Libeskind appears to have placed into his buildings. Libeskind, apparently, feels a supreme need to tell everyone what his buildings mean. That's a great shame, for he doesn't feel that the average person can figure it out. Buildings, and art in general, should be stuff that makes us think, not stuff that makes us all think the same thing. By stating his meanings like this, he's only dumbing down people and hindering them from evaluating/drawing meaning from it themselves. I'm personally kind of ashamed at his plan for the WTC site. Good memorials are not designed to make people feel grand and more patriotic. Good memorials make us reconsider what we believe about that event and other things, time and time again (think/evaluate!). 1776 feet? What is that? Maya Lin created a great work when she designed the Vietnam War Memorial. It's very out of context, but it represented the out-of-context-ness of the war itself, and the great gash it left in both our country and Vietnam. And even though her work could be considered daring, she has not taken any spotlight for it, instead choosing to fade into the background. She hasn't even really designed anything else since then.
