They've said time and time again that we have non-square lots. The example posted was the creation of a model based on a user-submitted photograph. The shots were probably just nice renders, and it's entirely possible(and probable) that that building can be placed in any lot when it is added to the game proper.

Really sweet pictures! Brazil is a fascinating country, you never know what to expect.

The NZ pics makes me pine for going back there. I used to live in the suburb Papamoa, my first real encounter with an American style suburb(suburbs in Sweden is roughly equivalent to the projects in the US). Here are some pics: Look at the poorly planned roads running paralell to the beach, you can live a hundred meters from it but you still have to walk for ten minutes to reach it... Lots of fancy houses, Pacific and McMansion mix in a rather interesting way. Random street view. In closing, it's a really poorly planned rich people's suburb with no centre or purpose, but it makes it all up by being the sunniest place in New Zealand and a surfer community.

I have to agree, those Scottish ones are truly vile. What is that wood doing on the windows???

Not to defend my nubish actions, but I assumed since it was on the first page it was new-ish. Second...this CJ is just such a huge inspiration! I would have never seen it without the necrobump.

If you add Malm

Check out http://kartor.eniro.se/ We all like to rest our eyes on the cities in Google Earth, but this is even better. Eniro is pretty much Sweden's answer to Google Earth, but one big difference: The "Utsikt" view, or "View" view. In our three largest cities you can browse the views taken from aerial photos. It is quite neat. Just search either Stockholm, Goteborg, or Malmo, and then click the UTSIKT tab in the top middle. Here are some examples: Stockholm Rosengård in Malmö - a large infamous housing project A small burb by the highway

I found this little gem on Google. It's a simple version of Sim City 2000 with some nice graphics. It IS limited but it's made by three guys. Check it out! http://www.raumagame.com/

Living in Lucifer's Breath The town blossomed, kind of, in it's industrial hayday. The future looked, if not bright, at least luminous. Just before the glory days were over, the mayor commissioned several ambitious urban renewal projects. The original Main Street remains, even though it is now obsolete after the Avenue project of 1955. Several old buildings were torn down after a collapse, and the dull concrete park now stands in their place. The old fishermen's church overlooks it's modern counterpart. The town Whale's Back, or just downtown. The huge tenements built in the late 1960's are mostly empty, waiting for an industrial boom that never came. Lastly, here's a closeup of the industrial area, known as "Hell on the hill".

@suplado: Thanks! Originally supposed to be Whale Island, which wasn't nearly as scary. @crazyyaya: I kind of ran out of space! Not sure what to do about it. @bighaben: Funnily enough, I kind of want my next one to be a kind of flawed utopia(oxymoron).

In this thread I'll post pictures from cities I put extra effort into. I'm by no means a great city designer, and while the work on this forum makes me feel very small, it also inspires. Feel free to leave comments and ask questions. If you want to know where a certain building came from I'll try my best to find a link. First up: Lucifer's Breath Lucifer's Breath is a fictional island southwest of Britain. It was settled in 1799 by fishermen, and remained unsignificant until coal was discovered. This lead to a small boom of industry, which is now gone, leaving only a shell of the island's past. The city is split in three parts. The large and decaying industrial area on the top of the mesa, the town Whale's Back, and the harbour. Coal was once Lucifer's Breath's life force. Now only one, diminutive coal mine remains. The harbour has a large capacity, but most of those containers are empty. Most of the coal dug up is used to power the island, with only little left for export. Next part: Living in Lucifer's Breath

Sinsykt, as you say over the border! Very nice city journal, the realism in the first Romanian city is scary. I, too, want to know how you made the 3D picture!
