Your favorite building ever built!
jim 546 replied to citiesxlfan42's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
My favourite "building" ever is the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. I love the way it combines the old architecture that once stood here with the new. The north stand is the remainder of the old stadium that once stood here, hence the gap. Plus, it has the second largest retractable roof in Europe, making the atmosphere inside even more intense! -
The idea of RHW is to replicate a real-life highway, which wouldn't normally have 90 degree turns. Alternatively, you could transition to avenue and do the turn with that.

I started gaming around the time of The Sims and SimCity 3000, so not too many memories, but both were pretty cool, shame about their successors (Sims 2/3 and SCS).

it isn't necessary to have all types of industry in a region, but different types encourage different residential wealth levels to grow, for instance, r$ are encouraged by dirty industry and agricultural, so zoning for these helps r$.

how about glr-on/in-road to el-rail/subway transitions? this would be perfect for several of my cities.

all the official updates are on the simcity 4 website, www.simcity.ea.com scroll to the bottom and click on the sc4 logo, then look for the updates -
this problem can occur when you place a maxis airport in your region/city. they contained a small bug that causes ctd during play. deleting them and replacing them with other airports will fix this. andreas made a replacement pack, i think it's on sc4d.

3 beginner questions in descending order of importance
jim 546 replied to CA Cash Refund's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Q!: i'm not sure, but possibly yes, whenever i create a new region it asks me to run the tutorials, so a re-install should also set the tutorials up (or maybe i never did the tutorials in the first place? idk). Q2: if you open up the cities and click on god mode, you can obliterate them and start again. however it does not correct the cities terrain, so you will still see where you placed roads/large buildings, and it also removes the flora (trees). Q3: the nam is installed via an exe program, so no pain at all, you just have to figure out what parts of the nam you want. -
if blue's wrong, then how 'bout orange?

i've always thought that this should have been done in sc4. they tried to mimic this with the simcityscape, but it never really took off. if only there were a live game online that mayors could drop in and out of, doing what they choose with their cities. the problem with region play itself is mainly the terrain. would maxis have given default maps to start off with and players use these? or would there be a person who designs a map on their screen and invites others to control sections of it. other things to consider are subjects to do with how mayors tend to keep different cities for different purposes (like one for res. one for com. and one for ind.) and how one city affects another.
