The worst building in the world
saltandsauce replied to tcx's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
what about the cereal box on sticks? and the buildings that look like they are melting or trying to rip them selves apart and by distgusting i mean you physically cringe to look at it its actually sore for my eyes and i lean backwards suddenly when i see some of these buildings and by architects talking a load of bull about buildings "saying this" and "making you aware of" and that i mean this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp-kc8u_1mI do you see my point? -

well out of this entire thread there are two old entries the russian KGB because of what happened there and london tower bridge modern architecture is about "statements" and "breaking moulds" and "emotion" and its these buildings that must be demolished and their architects ex communicated from designing buildings some buildings built now look ok but you have to admit a LOT of modern architecture is disgusting as has been proven by this thread -
The worst building in the world
saltandsauce replied to tcx's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
putting flowers on a dungheap doesn't help but i think the sheer number of modern buildings in this thread prove my point that is modern architecture is ugly, disgusting and should be removed -
if you try to get over your prejudices and phobias then you are trying to become something other than human, they are built into you and this is purely biological it is part of your instincts, the only difference is how much you act on it. people who say they are above prejudice are the sneering, pompous people that religion basically says they will pay for and that is why the lower down people follow religion rather than agreeing with the snobbish behaviour of the upper classes atheism is a religion in the sense that a group of people force their ideas on everyone else and preaching that religion is false and enslaving and thus they are hypocrites atheism is the religion without faith i don't mind you being atheist but please shut up, get over yourself and keep your crap to yourself

architects forget that its the outside that the general public see that the FRONT door is at the FRONT and that it is next to other buildings i suppose the whole of livingstone should be in there -
religion doesn't give you a purpose it gives you guidelines and rules, a common moral code if you will if anyone experienced complete freedom and no boundaries then they would get bored very quickly and rather lonely because not many people live outside the boundaries do they

The Great Debate- "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays"
saltandsauce replied to purpledaddy's topic in Current Events
i say "merry Xmas" instead of "meerry christmas" because it has so liittle to do with christ its all about santa claus and presents and overeating and i get really cheesed off when someone says "christmas isn't about church its about santa and presents" and i quote that from an articale in the paper about a boy who was excluded from the christmas party at school because he was aetheist -

i go yes religion does exist because if you don't follow a religion you don't have any sort of purpose unless you devise it yourself and it seems to me that those who don't have a purpose end up as dobbers (unemployable benefit claimants)

HM Queen Elizabeth II is longest living monarch in British history
saltandsauce replied to belfastuniguy's topic in Current Events
we don't like charles because he isn't the queen he is annoying and lacks the certain charm the queen has (nothing seems to surprise her EVER which is good) but yes i wish it would bypass charles and go to william -

seeing as i am a teenager who cn't drive i'd rather put up with a bat of traffic, pollution and noise if it meant i could be independant from my parents and on the plus your going to have more friends you can see regularly since theyre within walking distance (if the city was popular) and as for the "neighbourly" feeling was everywhere in tonnes of British cities, especially during WW2 since people had to rely on each other for support also lots of us lived in flats (apartments) with a stairwell or close where you would interact with your neighbours that is by definition sprawl however the crucial difference is population they were mostly (poor) families living in reasonable to squalid conditions and they lived in tenement squares with a shared back garden (or a small private one) where activities such as rubbish dumping and clothes washing happened and the front street was where kids played but nobody owned cars but buses and trams ran along narrowish arterial roads and cars weren't a problem

Goths to be banned from UK shopping Mall
saltandsauce replied to BurroDiablo's topic in Current Events
its banning emos not goths, adults confse the two emos are just annoying attention seeking miserable prats as for stereotyping teens they have plenty of undercover guards peretending to shop and they try to folow me as inconspicuously as possible and there is the uniformed guard doing the same they already have too much CCTV for "security" even though it does nothing and i think its good because goths will find other stuff to do outside shopping if they had tough prisons then crime wouldn't be so bad ( they get cake and stuff instead of bread and water which worked) -
CCTV is like being stalked 24/7 only for some reason its legal DNA database will be compulsory with the stupid compulsory ID card system which will record every single thing from the type of bread you eat to how often you go to the pub and how much you drink and the case several weeks ago where two disks with 1 third of the UKs personal details went missing (everyone claiming child benefits) so hmmm do i trust them plus there is no trust to erode if it means never having a passport i will never get an ID card

Europe vs America vs Asia vs Oceania
saltandsauce replied to jere90's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
why do people like the Med so much i wouldn't dip my big toe in there its so polluted give me the freezing north sea any day plus London is an over gentrificated bloated hellhole i am happy where i am right now in the best of the worst (voted best city to live in Great Britain by some property thingy) Edinburgh with the restored Waverly station the preserved victorian architecture and if you love the 60s there is appleton tower (university) and the st. james shopping centre and some "progressive" architecture such as the scottish parliment for all those people who like upsde down boats covered in bamboo
