Ok, so I've some to the realization that I'm horrible at texturing, I can never decide how I should texture a building, or even find the textures when I do. So I'm asking for your help. I modeled this Clock Tower, and I need some suggestions on how I should go about texturing it:

I'm tired of the stereotypes that are placed on Texans. We're not all gay hating, black-lynching conservatives. I don't all say "Ya'll", I don't drive a truck, I've never ridden a horse, I don't own a gun and I've never been hunting(although most people I know do and have been). -Ok now that I got that out of the way- I live in the capital of Texas, and I've heard no talk of seceding, aside from the normal joking about it. Also, Texas doesn't hold any direct right to secede. There are just loop holes that would make it easier for us than any other state. According to the Terms of Annexation, "Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States.." and apparently the Constitution neither directly states or implies that Texas cannot secede, although nothing states or implies that Texas can secede either. As for the US military trying to stop Texas from seceding by a military confrontation. It wouldn't happen, the majority of the military is deployed. I really doubt a civil war would start either, I don't see Kansas coming down here to try and stop us... If Texas were going to secede, there probably wouldn't be much violent resistance. There's no argument about wether or not Texas could survive on it's on. It could, what would stop it? You make it sound as if Texas is a 14 year old kid that is trying to run away from home....

Or you could create an arc, clone it, move it over(depending on the thickness of the wall). Then using the line tool create 2 lines to fill in the gaps on the ends. Then convert one of the arcs into an editable spline, attach the other arc and 2 lines. Don't forget to weld the 4 points that need to be welded. Slap on an extrude modifier and BAM! Herp-- err Curved Wall! Then if you want windows use a boolean. =D

How would one go about making a circular plot for a round-a-bout filler like mas71's subway station? I tried messing around with the LODS but it didn't do anything. example:

Originally posted by: Cheese89 Signed up, but I have a history of never winning ANYTHING... so I'm not too hopeful quote> Same with me. But the way I like to look at it is that everyone is born with the same amount of "Winning Points" that they subconsciously spend on things that would have a random outcome, helping them win. And so people that never win anything are subconsciously saving their points, for important things, like this or the lottery or prom king. I know it's stupid but it keeps me sane whenever I don't win those concert tickets on the radio.

Yeah, it's a reward that you get when you have 25,000 high tech jobs and The Advance Research Center. It looks like the NASA shuttle launch pad.

Thanks! I'll try that.

Originally posted by: SimFox On 3dsMax 2009 / Max2009 Design There isn't much point in using this version as you wouldn't be able to take advantage of ANY of it's new features (as compared to Max2008) since their are all centered on Mental Ray and this particular version of it (3,6) has compatibility issues with Bat4Max export script. So until further notice 3dsMax 2009 is NOT recommended for Bat4Max. You could still use Scanline. But that would be a waste of tool. quote> So if I already have 2009 then I should be able to use it right? I assume it can do everything 2008 can do... How would I go about using scanline for the render?

Yes, I know there's already tons of water towers on the STEX. However recently when I was visiting my home town, I noticed it had about 15 different types. So I figured one more on the STEX wouldn't hurt. This is my second bat. I started on it last night, got it ready to texture, then took a break until I was out of Makers Mark. I then began texturing it whilst drunk...About 2 hours later I realized it looked like complete crap and had to retexture everything, which took all of about 15 mins while sober. Stats -------- Plop Cost: §75 Monthly Cost: §22 Water Produced:1050 cubic meters/month Bulldoze Cost: §10 Render Time: 00:08:18.422 Dependencies: None Anyway. Let me know what you think! =) -

Does the new "Star Trek" movie mess up San Francisco?
yoshimitsu31 replied to diamonddog_74's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
I hope SF looks like that in 2300. But it's just a movie... I mean you don't see people all upset over The Terminator or Independence Day. He's an idiot. -
I have AVG and I've not experienced such problem. Is it while you're actively scanning your hard drive?

Originally posted by: mosin33 What we need is a good guide of doors, windows, etc. standard sizes. mabye... -mosin33quote> I just measured the door to my room and it's about 7 feet (~2.1 meters) tall and 2 feet 8 inches (~0.8128 meters) wide. So if you apply the vertical scaling of %133 then it would be 2.8 meters tall in gMax. Things to consider when modeling a real scale building for SC4: Ceilings are usually upwards of 8 feet, most commercial buildings are about 10 - 12 feet. The measure of a ceiling is from the floor to the ceiling, not from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor/roof. In my house the distance from the ceiling to next floor is about a foot. When I worked at target there was a good 5 feet between the ceiling tiles and the roof. Remember, all the ducting and pipes have to go somewhere. Most normal windows are at least 2x2 feet, aside from things like bathroom windows. Don't necessarily go by what looks right, if you're using the %133 vertical scale in gMax then things like doors and windows will look too thin until you render it for the game. I think the only things we need to establish a standard for are the minimum heights for doors and ceilings. So if using the %133 vertical scale in gMax then doors should be at least 2.838 meters tall and ceilings should be at least 3.243 meters tall.

Well lllLAX, I'd have to say that the BAT essentials tutorial is pretty simple, try read through slowly and studying the pictures. As for video, there is the The Gmax Fundamentals Video Tutorials. Remember, gMax is the program for 3d design, the BAT is an add-on to help make things for Sim City. Try using google or yahoo and search for gMax tutorials.. Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing your CJ.
