  1. Hello, I have strange performance issue with SC4. I have laptop with GF 8600GT and 2.4GHZ C2D 3GB RAM. Most games get very good performance but not SC4. When in hardware rendering mode, the game laggs unbelievebly as for such strong machine. Saveing takes ages . Surpisingly when I switch to software mode the game works much better and saveing times are normal, but in big cities the CPU has problems with rendernig andl sometimes lags. I'd like to force the game to run on hardware accelertion thad does nt cause lagging.. Does setting non default resolution by command line parameter (1280 x 800 instead of those availabele in game configuration menu), has sth to do with it ? W2K
  2. Poland

In my opinion you overprice Poland as a country... Of course it's developing rapidly but you forget about the bad/horrible sides of Poland and Polish people... I live in Poland and I'm Polish (as you probably see from my language) but I definitely can't call myself a patriot. It's mainly because polish mentality which grows up from soviet times... Polish governmental system is something that really stops the development of country... corruption everywhere , most people in the government are only looking for the way to earn as much money possible , no matter the others... Can you believe that we only have about 700km of highways for the whole country (which is not so much smaller than France or Germany) . The average length of highways build is 1.2 km per year... The cost of traveling by them is horrible 13 zlotys per about 50 km which means about 5$. The highways aren't also worth of that price... they are continuously renovated so they are not very different from typical rural roads... of course the price is not reduced... I have no idea how we are going to make it up before Euro 2012... The polish law is structured in way they disables most attempts to introduce some improvements... The Salaries: It's getting better but the statistically the average salary is about $1000 a month... but these are only statistics... the real salary is about $600. I don''t have to mention that for computer hardware and software is 20% more expensive in Poland just for no reason... The access to the Net: also getting better but only 20% of the society has possibility to get access to Internet. Also the prices... $24 per month of 1Mb/s access... Cities: Only Warsaw and Krakow are a kind of big cities (~1 million of citizens) most so called cites are about 300 000 citizens and less... There are a lot of simular riddicolous sitations in Poland but int's not tyhe time to describe them all... I can really tell you that Polish are stupid people who cannot take conclusion from their rough history and they are committing the same mistakes again and again... I'm going to move from Poland as soon as possible(after graduating from university. Thankfully at least higher education is free of charge in Poland)
  3. You're right. The main reason why people want to tear it down is the need of the distance from Russia. But believe me it's a very good reason. It stands on place where the land is very valuable in Warsaw, It has very little office space. You said about removing the symbols of comunism. In fact the whole building is the symbol of it and trying to remove the symobols you'd have to tear down the whole. The building doesn't have his own style at all. It's a mixture of everything made in very ugly way. A shopping mall built on its place would be better than this.
  4. It's all nothing comparing to this piece of sh... Its name is The Palace of Culture and Science and it's located in Warsaw. It's a gift from Russia built in 1950'ties. If fact all the people living in Warsaw wish it had been destroyed. Any way of demolishing thic crap would be good... But it's impossible. The Polish governmet treat it as a landmark ()
