  1. The Current State of the American Health Care System

Allright guys, seems most of ppl here are progressive and democrats (for the little i've read so far - i'm going back to read all of it). I'll give you a perspective of what happens here in brazil: We have universal healthcare. We have one of the most advanced system (in theory) which can provide services like, full cancer treatment, aids medication, even bariatric surgery and some cosmetic surgeries needed after some health problem. In the majority of the toughest cases, it really works! The problem is that the line is too long, and if you are dying, time is the key. :S We are talking about a very big country with a very high "corruption" rate and a very high level of GOVERN REGULATION which often gets prices higher and coimpetition lower. So what happens here is that THE WIDER the healthcare system spreads, the worst it gets. For every dollar we spend in taxes that have to go up to fed gov, we get like 10 cents in the real system. Thats the cost of burocracy and curruption. So, of course poor people love those populist approach of obamacare's because we don't have to PAY for it. Or, better, WE PAY!!! A LOT MORE!!! But we think we don't!!! hahaha we think our 'employer' pay, we think 'government' pay, we think rich people pay and actually is the other way around and i'm sorry to say that but in EVERY CORNER OF THE WORLD ITS THE SAME MENTALITY. Don't you ever forget UNIVERSAL SYSTEM is like a private system that's payed by everyone. But less effective and a lot more expensive. Just to be clear on that: In brazil we have to pay 31% of our EARNINGS each month to support both healthcare and retirerment fund. (our total tax rates are about 50% of gdp already). And what we get in return? We have to pay a private healthcare plan to have access to health services (most ambulatory - when it comes to emergencies and worst deseases you get in using the private system but end up using governments anyway. As I said before, once you're in, it works) and you are paying your taxes which are mandatory either. Same goes for when you are retiring. We pay our whole life and when you get old government pays you less than you deserve . Comparing both public and private plans, with less than half of the money you would get double results if you had to pay only for private services. Which means the poor people (we) could afford decent healthcare (AND retirement) with let's say only 15% of our month earnings. I'm talknig about brazil, a non developed country, but it is totally appliable to any country in the world. Forget about ANYTHING that comes from the goverment that may seem like they are paying for you. There is no such thing. Be sure: YOU ARE PAYING IT!!! From healthcare to subsidized buses fares. Margaret Tatcher once said: There is no such thing as government money. There is only YOUR money. that's my long two cents here, hopes it helps some of you to think about it.
  2. sc2013 has alrealdy been ditched by its manufacturer... no support, no patches nor updates. This simulator (that simulates worst than the so called spreadsheet sc4) will no more be upgraded and no major dlc shall be available...
  3. Cities Skylines Giveaway

    I want to join. whooof
  4. Max Building Density

It's not a bug!! There is a traffic issue where the bar can't get to the end of the 'line'. You should clear traffic so the bar agent can reach to the end of it. By Maxis programming crew. lol
  5. There are some things I will never understand. Why in the world EA would join projects like SIMCITY and FIFA MANAGER just to quit after some a few releases? There is no reason to believe that a product like this can draw the attention of much more consumer than it already has. Only if you change the nature of the game. Also, to believe that sc4 was a game too hard to play according to some research is a very good excuse to make a simplier game due to the lack of commitment and competence of designing and programming teams. Simple as that. On the sales side, there is nothing to compare here. Different times, with different markets and even different products. Of course a nice product could be very proffitable. That's not sc13 case at all. When you do the same things over and over again, you can always expect the very same results. EA/Maxis doesn't know that I guess.
  6. its a traffic problem!!! Release traffic in the elevators to allow ppl to go to school! :ohyes: but you cannot do the same with water supply... your megatower will complain from time to time anda there's nothing you can do about it, yeah yeah...
  7. i have a city with 6000 stundents and cannot hit 2000 mark in my university... i have full transportation, maglevs, streetcars and of course a lot of traffic doens't matter what i do... I don't think thats the issue... oh, and no schools not schools bus stops... (after I BULLDOZED all of it, my university attendance took off a little bit)
  8. SC2013 achieved a very interesting status. It has real agents that are anything but real... lol... in terms of simulating a city sc 2013 is far behind the spreadsheet simulator sc4 style... sorry... but you absolutely right...
  9. Some problems with sim... work.

no matter what you do you'll get this message from time to time... even if you've got a whole city full of factories... :(:( this game is soooo buggy that you can't figure out where the problem lies and it all comes down to traffic (at least thats the more plausible excuse). Funniest stuff is that not even in brazil we have cities with 100k people with traffic jams... that's hilarious!
  10. Sim City 2013 on CRY Engine?

@ xenocity The thing is, real people want games that they can play and understand... Who cares if it is statistical or simulation in the end? Thats the problem when you give decision power to a technician/programmer... they know how to use the screwdrivers but don't know exactly where to use it... lol (kiddin) The funniest part of all this thread is that glassbox engine is being used to do a work that's actually not being accomplished... it's supposed to be an agent based engine but it does almost anything but a good management of the agents... I'm thinking now of a sc4 with cry engine would be greeeeat ... lol
  11. Heavy Traffic Congestion.... Help!

how come this kind of city has too many intersections?!?! lol i know what you mean, but seriously, how many is too many? 3? this game is weird sometimes. though you're right: building tunnel directly connecting ind and res should relief traffic problems... but also, don't bother about wainting time on streetcars and buses: there's never enough wagons and buses for a 100k city. You can plop 3 streetcars garages and still you'll get long waiting times.
  12. Students Won't Commute

Ok. Are you serious? You own CoT and do not encounter issues in commuting between RCI? If that's actually true, i will have to write a nice letter to EA/Maxis. I didn't there weren't any issues. I said I don't have any major issues outside of students and freight. It's quite common for companies to fix issues and engines in the expasion pack instead of releasing them as a standalone patch. no it's not...
  13. Dear Diary!

lmao I am laughing so hard I am going to die in my desk chair lol. Jesus Christ, couldn't stop laughing... lmfao all day...
  14. Dear Diary!

    HAHAHAHAHA lmfao so much +1
  15. Education Help Requested!

the educational system is not functional yet. Sims don't go to school even if you have 6 schools on a city... they don't commute, and they don't use school buses as they should... I think it has something to do with the game agent system ... BTW is soooo funny to watch school buses follow each other in every stop... they are like zombies school bus drivers... lol
  16. Can you say if this tourism increment came up after you've plopped the airship dlc?
  17. +1.041.000/H City

    Very Good! Legal!
  18. in sc4 it did work. i mean, it doesn't work actually but it worked in a pratical way.
  19. communting is still broken ... they are trying to fix this, though
  20. My SimCity Journey

You know what finally happen to me? It ended up spoiling the joy of playing simcity 4 too! I don't know exactly how to explain but since I bought Simcity 2013 I can't play the old one probably due to old graphics and I'm not playing sc2013 either... I'm stuck in a limbo!
  21. $%&^! Just fixing half of the bugs would be great! lol kicking out mayors would come in handy though.
  22. Your missing the point. What I'm saying is, based on the reviews it has got, against the undoubtedly massive profit they will of made on it, I wonder if the top guns will decide to sell the franchise or continue with it. Sure, the majority of reviews I've read/watched have highlighted many good things, but also too many bad points to recommend it. On the other hand, I expect EA don't care, as long as it brings in profit. I just think they rushed the game, missing a big opportunity to make something very special with the new glassbox engine. I like that it simulates everything, and in a funny way, like the cartoon graphics. But just think how much better it could of been if the cities (sorry, I mean villages) were the size of the largest SC4 or CIM2 plots, though that has already been discussed plenty. SC4 still has the edge over SC in a few areas, and to me, that just isn't right. Sorry man, I was just kidding. It was meant to be a joke! I guess at this point EA already knows that a lot of money would have to be spent to produce a good game, so they'll problaby decide to suck as much as they can on DLC and then dump the project. That's my opinion based on what we've seen they do so far.
  23. they can't manage to finish this one and you're asking about a second one already? lmao
  24. just imagine the traffic jam in each neighborhood entrances then lol LA i405 would be like a walk in the park...
  25. Services from another city?

Well, power and water sharing are not completely functional yet. Same goes to garbage/recycling and sewage between cities. Also you'll find that students do not commute and educational system is broken for now. Maxis is working hard to fix it though. Traffic is a little bit unrealistic and needs tuning, but they are also working on this. Nevertheless, the problem of the map size still got no solution at all.
