  1. Today we'll be talking with Phillipe Dasilva, Member Of The Month September, 2007, and head of the Monte Cristo Internet Operations. Hey there, Phillipe! Welcome to your third interview on SimTropolis.com How are you today? Well, I'm allright. Actually, very busy polishing the website making sure that everything works properly and content is translated but very happy to get it almost finished. Did you join SimTropolis after or before Dirk contacted you about clearing your statement up to the community? I am an old timer of Simtropolis. I did never post in the forums but I used the STEX a few times in the past. If I remember well, I'm a member of the Simtropolis community since 2004 but I rather keep my other nickname secret so that I can log in as a standard community member Did you ever expect to win the MOTM? Not at all, I'm not involved in here to get any reward unless the one to see other city builder fans satisfied with a game I'm currently working in. I rather take that as a team reward than personal, if there wasn't the entire CU team behind, I wouldn't have receive it: Thanks guys! We all know that you're representing the Monte Cristo team on SimTropolis, more specifically the game Cities Unlimited, but exclusive interviews with Dirk aren't everything. Right now we're talking Simtropolis community. Why do you think you were nominated for the award? I actually think that I don't deserve it. I'm just talking to the community as I think we should. I think this reward belongs to the whole community members who spent some of their time writing great posts in the CU threads and sharing their thoughts about what they would like to see: they are the ones really participating, I'm only pushing them to do so. What are your favorite SimTropolis moments? I have two: The first one was the when I downloaded my first custom region and bat from the STEX and played with it. The second was when I've been contacted by Dirk in June for the first Q&A about Cities Unlimited: if someone would told me a few months ago that I would have the opportunity to be involved in such a great game project and talking about it with you all, I wouldn't believe it. If you were stuck on a deserted island with one SimTropolis member, who would it be? I would hate to be stuck on a desert island! How would I play Cities Unlimited or browse the web talking with others? Do you have anything else you'd like to share with us? Apart from continuing sharing their thoughts about CU and talk with us on the different features we'll be presenting them, just keep being this smart, creative and fun community! Thanks for taking the time to have this interview, Phillipe! Congratulations on winning the award.
  2. Biggest Failure of CXL?

I traditionally do not judge games until my hands are touching the released edition, but I am certainly disheartened by Monte Cristo's failure to include inherent features such as railroads in the non-MMO offer.
  3. Newest Administrator

This promotion was long overdo. Felicitations and hats off to Cheese89!
  4. Certainly the a well-maintained tennis court or two that doesn't charge every player a hundred smackeroos. *coughnyccough* Sorry, I think I'm coming down with a cold. Ping Pong tables in parks would also be a pleasant addition. Say, something like this Or how about a pointless, mediocre elevated park in the middle of a bustling city? We could build up all the hype in the world so it would draw in tourists from around the globe only to disappoint. Oh, wait - I think NYC beat us to it. www.thehighline.org On a more serious note, I would strongly advocate the complete annihilation of roads. I'm serious. Replace roads with maglev tracks, and initiate an automated maglev bus service to get everybody wherever whenever. Just my two cents.
  5. The Current State of the American Health Care System

Which would you rather put your life in the hands of? - Private, investor owned insurance corporations and pharmaceutical companies that put profits before people. - The government, elected by your vote and with you being its top priority.
  6. Creative Expressions

simtropolis is such a diverse and talented community. i feel as if i new board is in order - a board in which members may post any form of artwork that they feel inclined to share with the community. whether it contain literary works, visual art, or music, it would be fantastic to keep it all in one rich, wonderful board. what say you?
  7. Introduce Yourself Here!

Welcome to Simtropolis. Only you can make your stay worthwhile in the murky depths of Simtropolis. Only those of true mettle have waded through and survived. Many have come here boasting of their tremendous skills and knowledge only to fall to their knees before the lords and ladies that are the true substance of this forum. Will you join the elevated ranks of Simtropolis royalty, or will you be washed away along with the rest of the ignorant sewage? Only time will tell.
  8. Member of the Month Awards: April 2009

Congratulations, Chrissy - this award is long overdue!
  9. I ride public transportation enough to notice that there are people who step onto escalators without being phased and other people who have to step on just right. These people are frustrating as hell, but that's another story entirely. I only hesitate on downward escalators. I figure that if I fall on an upward one, I'll just get back up on my own two feet and end up closer towards my destination. If my feet fail me on a downward escalator I will certainly get to the bottom more quickly than I otherwise would, but my destination might change from "home" to "hospital." So what about it? Do you step on like you're lord of your domain, or are you all wishy-washy? If you are, why?
  10. Thought it may sound unconceivable, I would make waste illegal. Could you imagine how efficient humans would be if nothing was wasted? Hunger, pollution, and prices would all decrease. What laws would you introduce?
  11. Cities XL GEMS+Online Play

you hit the nail on the head there, rybo. the possibilities are really endless, so if monte cristo can keep the quality top notch, we're in for the best virtual city building experience of all time.
