About this City Journal

I'm playing SimCity for years, sometimes for months in a row and then I'll put it aside for years again.

Now I've picked it up again and as I am starting a new region I decided to post the development of this region in a City Journal.

The Simeon region I create has nothing to do with the Mount Saint Simeon in Syria. It's just my cats name spelled backwards ;)

I have made a region with only medium sized city blocks and I just picked one somewhere in the middle to start with. The region will develop while I build.

As more and more lumber jacks find their way to the village, the village grows. The railway company already laid down some tracks to the saw mill and to the logging camp. But that's not the only railway track... there is another going east into the mountains. What's going on? It's Big John. John and his friend John went hicking into the mountains. They heard about the beautiful pond and waterfalls. The taller one, hereafter called Big John, found a rock. The rock was black and after closer study John...

Hey, what's that sound? Move closer. Yes. Guys with chainsaws and heavy machinery. This peaceful place is no more. Some guy named Jack, noticed the dense forests and decided to chop them. And he brought his friends, all named Jack, obviously. No only do they kill the woods, they've built a saw mill. To connect all this to the 'civilized' world, they connected the saw mill with train tracks and dirt roads. All those Jacks need a place to live. So they built a temporary settlement close to the woods....

Just a quiet little pond in the mountains. Almost undiscovered by humankind. Almost... A couple of kayaks have been spotted, ready to descend the waterfalls and down the stream to the river. And... yes there is a little fisherman standing on the shores trying to catch anything else than tires and old shoes. But that's it. Just a quiet place where trees grow and animals can walk around.
