Welcome back again. In this entry we continue our tour of the Illyrian coastline with a visit to Pacov. Before we have a look at the actual town and its surroundings a brief history (brief, because there isn't much to say about the town).

The first reference to Pacov is in 1343, but it was abandoned soon after in the 1390s. People would not resettle here until the end of the XVIIIth century when a few houses where built, together with a church. It wasn't until the XXth century that Pacov would gain some importance when just south of the town a harbour and adjacent industrial park was constructed. The harbour would be constructed on the site of what used to be a bay, silted up over the centuries, because it is here that one of Illyria's larger rivers, the Morava, flows into the sea.

The town of Pacov: to the right the church and some old houses surrounding it. To the left some modern housing estates, built mainly for those who work in the harbour.

Below part of the harbour with the train station, mainly used for freight trains, although passenger trains also depart from this station. Also visible is the winding old coastal road. Most people nowadays use the highway (top left) which has a tunnel running under the town.

Despite the intense development of the surrounding area, it looks like they have done a good job with preserving the historic core of the town.

For the first time, I've really liked your industrial area more than your town, which means you're also great at building industrial areas! What a great planning!

Hi Daan,
the station looks a little bit like Lindau, fantastic idea to use a normal terminal for the end of the line.
And again english: Sorry, but was necessary. It´s one of the best CJ´s ever, thanks for your work, I look forward to your next update,
greetings, eufl

Incredible as usual! You did a fantastic job with making the development flow along the coastal edge and the town is quite beautiful! I see you did so more modern stuff which looks really cool as well! The off grid apartments reallllly make the town look natural. Thanks for your support over at my CJ too Daan! Look forward to more,

All the best

I think we're in Ploce now ...

When I was there years ago I always wished to enter the train to Mostar / Sarajevo. But at that time I had no passport (ID card is/was enough to go to Croatia).

Gee, I wish my trials to do a harbour would look 10% as good as yours do ...

Take care!

Great jog indeed, your pics are all really eyecandy, what mods did you use for the farms? I see they have wallstones.
Also the coasts look damn realistic with those stones.

I love that first picture, with a a tiny little town on top of the hill. The industrial area looks very pleasant with all the trees and nature around it.
Wonderful pictures again!

  • Schulmanator: of course, the Illyrians are very proud of their cultural and architectonic heritage. Thanks for visiting!
  • TekindusT: thanks very much! The town was not the main focal point for this entry, I put most energy towards the industrial park and harbour.
  • Eldaldo: thanx! The farms are made by plopping some walls (from here) and filling the area inbetween them with ploppable gras textures (from here).
  • eufl: so I will reply only in english (for those who don't understand german ). Firstly, thank you very much. I really appreciate your continuing support. Secondly, you're right about the station. There aren't much end-of-the-line stations around and this one had a nice industrial feeling to it. And I agree with you that all the great plugins and mods add another dimension to sc4 (and photoshop ). That's why I still very much enjoy making new cities every time.
  • Jamonbread: thanx! Expect more modern buildingsin the next entry/entries. Keep up the great work on your own cj!
  • spursrule14: .
  • Nardo69: and you're absolutely right! Except for the landing strip and the shape of everything is a little different. I am sure you are more than capable of making a very nice harbour judging by the quality of your work.
  • Cisco2: thank you! You can find the links in my comment to Eldaldo.
  • CHR: . I really like slopes and hills in my towns and cities. It makes them look more realistic and it is more fun to built.
  • Gilikov1994: how about a boat ticket? That way you could use the harbour as point of entry! Thanks!
