Crisis in south Anderson

The dilemma……. population growth increases.... Anderson now at over 50,000 residents!
State Highway 8 built 25 years ago (before Anderson was founded) has seen tremendous growth south heading out of town. New residences have set up around the area and a shopping district with restaurants, grocery store chain, and a small indoor shopping center has all opened making the road a nightmare. Two new roads where built last year to accommodate some of the traffic but as you will see in the photos taken – this has not produced the results needed.
State Highway 8 is the main road running through downtown. From north of the city limit it is called Main St. and ends about 4 miles south. It reduces from 4 lanes to two lanes all the way out of the region. The proposal would be one of two things.
A.      Widen State Highway 8 to Harris Church Rd. (6 miles south of town)
OR
B.      Add several new roads to the grid in south Anderson. Helping the flow of traffic and goods (more roads however may cause more congestion).
These proposals are on the table for the citizens to decide as the city council has been deadlocked and the mayor has no veto power yet. You are needed to vote on the course of action needed to help take the congestion away. Look over the photos and leave your comments below. The simple majority will decide the fate of south Anderson and weather the new roads will be built or the existing road widen…… think carefully and help make this difficult choice!
Good luck!

Widen the road. Or...build a highway reliever route.  I would like to see how well highways systems can be done in Cities XL.

Excellent -- Are we all leaning towards windening the road??  (highways are out -- still not at the population level to build them yet -- but they will be coming in the future)..........

looks great! I have a question, how is the landscaping in the full release. Can you plop trees on the painted green? If there is one thing that make the game look better is the ability to plant trees and such on lots and filler lots. Is this possible yet??

I vote, C, wear the hotdog suit!

No seriously, speaking from zero ingame experience, I would say, widen the road.

I have really enjoyed reading your journal, it has given me a lot of insight into the game.  I have not yet decided for or against buying the game, but I gotta say, this CJ is moving me in the "buy" direction.

I'm curious, is this a solo or PO CJ?

Do both; widen the road for more dense commercial development on the strip, but provide a grid of small steets for local traffic and to establish better boundaries between residential and commercial development.

I would definitly widen the road. Allows for further developement along the road. I have experience, in Hillard Ohio, on the ballot they asked whether to widen and continue Britton Parkway or to add a seperate arterial road to allow more traffic and businesses. The area voted in favor of widening and continuing Britton Parkway by over 62%. They just finished putting the last circle in and a new gated subdivison is currently being built even in the bad economy. So I'm in full support of widening your road.
