The Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is a small island nation in South Asia, located in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean. It lies southwest of Sri Lanka, about 1,000 miles from the Asian continent. Well known for being one of the world's most beautiful tourist destinations, the Maldives are home to countless pristine beaches, atolls, and islands, many of which are completely uninhabited. Let's take a trip to this tropical paradise.

We'll begin with a look over the islands - all 1,192 of them - from the air as we make our way towards the capital city of Malé to land.

We've touched down at Malé's Velana International Airport - and it's quickly apparent that despite the lack of developable land, the locals make the most of what they have available.

To take in the simple beauty of the islands, we hop aboard a boat a visit a few of the countless, small uninhabited islands that compromise the nation. Picture perfect beaches like these make for a perfect getaway, or if you're feeling adventurous, a great place to practice your wind surfing. Hulhumale Beach is one of the
Maldives' most popular getaways.

At nighttime however, something truly remarkable happens. The beaches come alive in a bright blue hue due to bioluminescent plankton, making for a magical sight.

The locals discovered over the years that the shallow waters surrounding the Maldives were perfect for building beach side bungalows - and today they're a common sight across many of the Maldives' smaller islands, like at Reethi Rah.

The Maldives are filled with beautiful atolls like the Baa Atoll, seen here from above.

One final overview from the Maldives, this time of the densely populated capital city of Malé.

South Sea paradise!
I've seen the ocean many times, but I've never seen this crystal clear and beautiful ocean.

Not wrong - it looks so unlikely a place, yet that's how it is.

Great work as always Korver. *:thumb:

(That bioluminescence looks fantastic as well - something else I've never seen before).

Hey Korver! You probably dont remember me - we use to comment on each other's CJs/Diaries here at Simtropolis and SC4D 10-15 years ago!

You have done an unbelievable job with this one, bro. Incredible.

You were always great at this, but you have taken it to another level.

If I had to vote for Top 5 or even Top 3 CJs of all time, True Earth would definitely be on that list.
