A Trip Across the Pacific
Our journey continues on today as we'll be taking a trip across the Pacific Ocean and visiting some of the region's most beautiful sights.
Our trip will include visits to the beautiful islands of Palau, Bora Bora, Pitcairn Island, and Easter Island - with the perfect weather, pristine beaches, and warm waters - not to mention the spectacular landscapes as well - these islands are some of the Pacific's finest tropical paradises. We'll start off however in Palau, an archipelago nation of over 150 tiny islands in the Western Pacific Ocean. Volcanic explosions many millenia ago pushed coral larvae up and out of the Pacific Ocean, forming a large limestone reef - and the erosion that has taken place since then has given these islands their recognizable mushroom appearance, as seen below.
Another look at Palau from the air, this time off the coast of Urukthapel, where many of the nation's famous rock islands are located.

Our next destination is Tahiti's Bora Bora - this small atoll was formed by a large volcanic explosion about three million years ago, and has been sinking back into the Pacific Ocean since then. The shallow waters surrounding the islands are popular spots for beachside bungalows - and can be seen dotting many of the atoll's small islands.

Our cruise liner finally reaches the Pitcairn Island, our next destination seen here from above.
We'll be exploring the world's second smallest capital city for our next destination - Adamstown. Settled in 1790 by a group of British mutineers on HMS Bounty and Tahitians, Adamstown is named for the last surviving mutineer, John Adams. Today, it's still the only settlement on the island, and Adamstown is where most residents eat, drink and sleep, while they grow food in other areas of the island. With a population of only 50 people and a very simple way of living - any visit here is almost like taking a trip back in time. Electricity on the island is usually permitted for only a few hours at the beginning and end of the day, but Adamstown's sunsets still can be quite beautiful.

We catch a plane and head into Hanga Roa, Easter Island - our last destination for the day. Hanga Roa is Easter Island's main town, harbour, and capital city - from here,
we'll head out towards the interior of the island to see some of the island's most unique sights.
Our last couple of sights will come from Anakena Beach - another one of Easter Island's most famous destinations. Anakena is well known for its pristine
coastline, line of well-preserved Moai, and crashing Pacific Ocean waves (which can make for some excellent surfboarding).
