Cemesto District

East Tenne: Cemesto District
The Cemesto District, the 8th arrondissement of the National Capital Region, is a primarily residential working class neighborhood located south of the Wirdle River and a short commute to the heart of the capital. The main road through the district, Calutron Boulevard, links up with two of the main thoroughfares in the city - East Tenne Avenue (District I) and Wildcat Turnpike (District VI). Though comprised primarily of low to medium density housing with a commercial strip the Cemesto District, several substantial parks give the residents great gathering places.

One of the interesting features of the area is a park with ornamental flowers. Sounds rather ho hum, doesn't it? The catch is this: these are special flowers. Glowing flowers, to be precise. Not so creatively named "glowflowers" the scientific name for them is Plutonium floridae. So, be sure to see them at night when you visit Plutonium Park!

These are the only flowers to emit their scent electromagnetically
Don't worry about it being hazardous. These flowers use a subatomic particle not hugely dissimilar to a muon. These particles, meowons, are the only EM waves known to induce purring. The scent, if you were wondering, is kind of a salmon-gardenia aroma... very popular amongst the felines!

If you think Plutonium Park is pretty in the day, come back at night. Its glow is good enough to allow for pouncing on all sorts of nocturnal prey... and has a lovely ambience perfect for strolling!

Cemesto Park is much smaller. It still has glowflowers. Alevon Hall Apartments overlook the park and have very reasonable lease terms.

Charlotte Hall is a dormitory for third shift workers. The windows are blacked out so they can sleep during the day.

Cheyenne Hall is a dormitory for those members of the Supreme Wirdle's household staff who do not live in her palace. She commissioned the structure and provides it at no charge as an added benefit for her loyal, dedicated servants.

Jefferson Row is a mixed use development fronting Plutonium Park. In addition to condo units there are retail shops and offices. This includes the clinic run by Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine and Dr. Howard.

East Village Church is the largest of three churches in the district. The fine cut stone facade was designed by the architectural firm of Moriarty, Holmes & Watson, located on Baker Street.
Commercial activity is concentrated along a sharp curve along Calutron Boulevard. A retail development, The Manhattan Projects, provides many goods and services to the community. Some of the stores include Oppenheimer Optical, Fermi Lab Supply Depot, Werner's Flowers, Szilard Home Goods, and of course Frisch-Zazzles Boutique.

The Manhattan Projects is a great place for shopping and for fine dining. Three restaurants add to the draw of this retail complex. The Brown House Pub (above, on the corner with the turret) is quite popular, as are both Da Wabbit (fine rabbit-based cuisine) and Snow White and the Seven Sardines (seafood at its fishy best!).
