Cawalia: Brick City

The Cawalia District hosts several towns and is bisected by a large, strategic body of water. The seat of the district government is Brick City, a town whose origins far predate Schulmania and reach back close to the very dawn of time itself. Long, long ago in the days before the birth of the Supreme Wirdle, humanoids and felines shared a world with only the most tangential of interactions between them. It was almost like the humanoids were so self absorbed in their own world that they failed to recognize the supremacy of the feline world. Into this world stepped Saints Francis and Flora, the cats who domesticated the humans and trained them to obey felines.

During this domestication period, Schulmania's ruling dynasty was established. The nimble Francis and Flora, children of Chancellor Mooky, founder of the dynasty, required proper facilities for a domesticated species like humanoids. Chancellor Mooky and Queen Vera helped to build this very first city; a brick city.

A town, then two or three, sprang up as training centers where humanoids began the laborious process of learning to admire and service the felines who chose to allow them to be in their furry presence.

The actual original training center towns have long ago crumbled back in to the dust from which they sprang, leaving only traces of their former glory. Humanoids have decided to recreate one of these sites as a tribute to the greatest event in human history - being domesticated by felines. After all, since the advent of domestication, humans have certainly improved their lot quite a bit. One of the most recent human activities used to extol the virtues of their feline companions is this newfangled thing called an "internet". The purpose of this internet is to allow humanoids to immerse themselves in cat videos and cat memes. Sometimes they email them too. And once in a while some work is done But, it is all about cats. Then again, isn't everything?

Let us now explore the new Brick City, capital of the Cawalia District of Mookimia. As you might imagine, the buildings in the city feature a copious amount of bricks. This new Brick City resonates with the ancient past; serving as a tangible reminder of the grand plans of our furfathers oh so many years ago.

Welcome to Brick City!

The Cawalia District Government House (in brick, of course) is the largest building in town

Plenty of businesses serve the town -- all with brick facades -- including Big Nick's House of Bricks and Reece's Peanut Butter Cats. I Drew U Caricatures & More and of course Cameron's Cameras (which is not a big green building!) are all busy shops here in the heart of town.

Offices employ many residents as well. Here in the corner building the top 2 floors are leased to Country Gold, Inc. (CGI). CGI houses office suites for many entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses. Some of the CGI businesses include Patsy Cline's I Fall to Pieces Repair Service, Roy Acuff's Wabash Cannonballs & Armaments, Tammy Wynette's Stand By Your Man Wedding Chapel, Johnny Cash's Rings of Fire Jewelry Store, Loretta Lynn's Coal Mine Consultants, Porter Waggoner's Rhinestone Apparel Outlet and many more!

Brick City School serves the educational needs of the community. The school's sports team - The Masons - gets the town excited. When someone yells "BRICK!!!!" at a basketball game, the home team cheers! The teachers live in the brown brick terraces to the left of the school. The school provides the free homes to teachers to show their appreciation for their hard work and dedication. And, forget apples... these kids bring tuna for their kitty teachers! OM NOM NOM!

Brick City's house of worship is located next to the lovely corner brick building housing the Gingerlich Condos. Both were designed by renowned brick architect Jonah Whalebelly. For some reason, only people whose names begin with J live in the condo.

On this brick building lined street we see the Chicken King at the far right and many stately brick homes. The town's parks consist mostly of landscaped brick plazas. The landscape design was by the famed firm of ABC Landscaping (owned and operated by the three partners - Adam, Brennan and Carter - and winners of the 2014 Brickscaping Award from Cat Head Magazine).

Shops and homes have plenty of greens pace around them; it is not all about bricks. The local branch of Feline National Bank is convenient for residents and businesses alike.

The Sullivan Brick Institute trains brickmasons and conducts scientific research related to bricks and construction. If you are looking for high tech, newfangled bricks then the SBI is the place to go! They just invented bricks for lefties! Wow... that's progress!

Manufacturers and warehouses are close to the waterfront. The custom signage shop of Deon's Neons is one of the tenants at the warehouses, as are Justin Time Clocks, Kilopasquale Pressure Gauges & More as well as Rob's Discount Hockey Sticks.

Wonderful little town.  I'll bet I could start at wide receiver for the school's football team.  I have hands of brick!
