Goober Town Part III

Still got a little backlog from 2013... But finally got around to wrap up this city... :-)

A quick look at a modest CBD...

But main focus is on the story of the large produce yard - established in the 40s, it had reached a point where it was just too small for the many products from the region (and the large modern rigs)... an overview -

The old North Fruit and Vegetable Yard, where drivers would get into fistfights frequently over who could pull in or out first... it is scheduled to be torn down and replaced completely...

The new Yard with its better facilities is mostly finished...

The SouthEnd Housing Project will be extended eastwards, but new ground needs to be broken first...

An older area slowly being gentrified...

And so the city continues to spread...

So... this is it for Goober Town... Getting too big for my taste, so I'll be moving on...

A last note -

Here is a pic from the fruit market in Berlin that inspired me... well, what actually inspired me were older pics, stories and news clippings I read about the fighting among truckers when that place became way too small (sometime in the 60s or 70s)...

The stories about the packed markets and fistfights is similar to what Covent Garden used to be like in London up until the 1970s! Great work as always Paeng!

Just amazing how close to reality you made that truck depot/fruit market. And I think this is one of your few forays into grimy housing neighborhoods - which, of course, you do as well as you do everything else. Genius.

thank you for the tour of your beautiful city   I really like the railroad facilities and the way you have put all this custom content from several Batters together    I see a few things I maybe don't have in my files and will soon begin a new journey thru the STEX

Your updates are always pleasing to the eye.  Again, I must say your attention to detail makes your cities vibrant.  I especially like the last day-shot picture.
