Update 2 - Operation Barbarossa |
Although Nazi Germany had a non aggression pact with the U.S.S.R, Germany was in need for more raw materials from the Russian area. Germany split the Russia into 3 targets
In the north, the political target: Leningrad
Just a little south, the Symbol: Moscow - The capital
And in the south, the food source - Ukraine
And the economical target - Kiev
The operation starts on the 22 June 1941. 3.9 million men march into Russia, along side with axis powers such as Finland, Romanian, Hungarian and more...
The Russians were invaded from several fronts. The non aggression pact was bait for the Russians so Hitler would have a border with the soviet union, so the offence will be more surprising, and quicker.
The operation was to resemble the Polish campainge- Blitzkrieg, lightning war.
For the Jews it meant going into ghettos and the start of the executions, and the Holocaust - the Shoah's , beginning.
