This is truly amazing. I cannot wait until they add my city. If you are trying to recreate a building or city, there are no words to describe how much this will help you. So let the pictures speak for themselves.

I just took a tour of San Francisco with this thing and man is it ever beautiful. I gotta visit this city. Wait until Microsoft puts all of America into the Virtual Earth virtual tour thing. That will be incredible, especially for the sim city 4 community.

Well, its a beta. Looks like the took the database from Streets and Trips and are going on from there.

Wow! That's amazing how great it all looks. And it's live too, not a few years old like Google Earth!

The "Birds eye" (highest resoultion) images are very confined and only span about a 10th of the actual city. GO GET THE GOOGLE. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU ARE MADE OF!

This is cool, but why does Microsoft have to mimic everything?  They are going to mimic the Ipod next you know.  Google earth has more texture, but this has a little of a better picture in some places.

Well the bird's eye views are much closer than google earth. That is what makes it better. But yea google earth has the whole world. Windows live local only has some cities of the USA, but they are still adding cities.

I think these birds eye views are extremely useful when recreating NYC for example. Also this will really help to recreate buildings.

Here is ground zero in NYC. The place where the world trade center towers used to stand.

See all those people on the right. Looks like a few hundred at least.

No LOL its definetely not live. They don't have the resources to make something like this live, plus that would be going a tad too far on the privacy issue. 2.gif

Although this does look great it is only for small areas of a few chosen cities. I'll stick with Google Earth, thanks.

    3.gif That is too cool!

i looked at ny on the arial and i thoroughly studied the disgusting roosevelt island.
i cant wait until my own city is in there.

i enjoyed the ride in your car thingy.
but, sadly, my browser is to slow for it. 15.gif
i like how you can "change your view" and kinda wander around and stuff.

    cool.

Windows Live now includes Los Angeles and Philadelphia. I can't wait to see Hollywood with this thing. 9.gif

Odd why there isnt too much interest in this. After all this is extremely helpful for the Sc4 community.

Well, although this Windows Live Local is pretty cool, the clicking gets really old. I'll just stick with Google Earth.
