Commercial cap relief

I'm trying to build a high density city which will hold more than 1 mil sims and about 600k co jobs, I'm trying to do this city without an airport since I already have 3 large international airports in neighboring cities, adding another will be completely unrealistic.

Trouble is that without the airport co$$$ demand is low limiting my city's growth.
I already have all the high-way/rail/sub connections the rewards and the landmarks which helped me bring CO population to about 300K but it seems to have stopped at this level for a while now.

Is there any other co$$$ and co$$ cap relief that I can use to boost growth?

Good Luck!  Honestly, you need an airport...I know it's unrealistic, but the game doesn't recognize the fact that you have airports in neighboring cities very well. Also, increase high and med. density residential and that should help some more commercial grow...

Hope this helps you...

Recreation facilities like parks, plazas, etc. only provide residential cap relief. They have no effect whatsoever on commercial or industrial caps. You might want to try putting a lot of roads, highways, subways, etc. to your neighbors. Each identical connection has a diminishing rate of return (e.g. 1st highway 100,000 relief, 2nd highway, 58,496 relief...) but it is still present nonetheless for every connection you make. If all else fails, you should just build an airport. Airports in neighbor cities, no matter how numerous, will not help relieve your commercial cap.

Instead of just guessing where your demand caps lie, you can get Equinox's RCI Query Upgrade Mod. It will show your city's demand caps as percentages; 100% means the cap is saturated and you need to build more cap-relieving structures.

a real densed region with lots of well educated sims will also help raising the demand. Most important, like said above, are plazas and neighbour connections.

One thing that I have found useful in my downtown areas is to build the tower from Joerg's airport pack and not bother with any of the runways or anything that he also includes. It's kind of silly, but the tower alone counts as an airport with 1,000,000 capacity and it takes up virtually no room (2x2 or 3X3 I don't remember). So you can have the airport effect without dedicating any real space or actually building one. Another download that you should consider for cap relief is Simgoober's Ritz Carleton. It is a reward that I always cheat for (it is dependent on having an airport which I don't want!) that helps relieve the Co cap.

Try NDEX's Taipei Lite, it gives 235,000 CO-$$ and CO-$$$ of demand cap relief.

A small international airport has a cap relief of 70,000, the medium IA 80,000, and the large IA 90,000. The figures apply to both Co

hmmm... I will check it out.

*looks it up in simcity prima-guide*

oh, hell yeah, how they are changed 3.gif. I found this table in the Prima-guide:

Airports' Modified Maximum Demand Cap Relief

(first value is small, second is medium, third value is Large, that is, after the second upgrade of the airport)

    Landing strip: 102,000: 131,000: 160,000
    Muncipial Airport: 288,000: 341,000: 400:000
    International Airport: 700,000: 800,000: 900,000

47.gif 700K !?!  I'm gonna need to pave the entire city with large plazas to reach this figure. 4.gif
I'm going to try Joerg's airport tower.
    Thanks.

best bet is to go with NDEX...most of their buildings are plopable with both cap relief, landmark effects and jobs...4.gif

or download a park with high cap relief...or mod one yourself...4.gif

I find the airport is way to big for it's default cap relief...never use it...more of just an eyecandy thing...no real transit bonus for the airports and it causes crime...15.gif

    noncheat:
airport can be over capasity and be a negative effect too...15.gif
parks and city road conection (specially plazas, highway con) gives much more cap relief and take up a lot less room

have more cties even smal ones surround the large com one...each counts and new conection...keeps the bonus up city to city conections...4.gif

What I did eventually was taking the tram center from simwings pack. I edited to have 1 million passengers capacity as well as slightly changed it with LE to make it look nicer and more realistic. C and R demand went right thru the roof 9.gif
Thank you all for all the help.
