@MayorTim: So tell us, is it your eye on the pic?

@madawac: Thank you :-)  And yes, they have such lovely buidlings there. I'll see if I can post a pic of a model of the future Dubai downtown. It is AMAZING!!!  And please, don't be shy to post pics here :-) And by the way: The eye in the avatar is my eye. I made it when I played with Photoshop and made a profil pic with a phrase. That's about the story

@Jutlander79: Thanks alot for your comment :-) nothing is impossible - THAT is the attitude I like!  I'm happy to built the crown jewel for your city 2.gif  And by the way:  Rendering hasn't even begun, lol.

    By the way :

    We are counting:  1

I finished all parts for the major highrise! Yiepieh! 39.gif
Now I have to make exact plans of the actual stacking process.
I will have to split the whole thing in several parts since otherwise the BAT would collapse. Good thing I can save select and work on an area in a new file and then merge it back and it will be at the exact same position as before.

On this pic there is the last unit missing that I just completed. Still I wanna share with you the base of the High Rise to the SKY!

    29_bus_burj1.jpg
As you can see ... they are well on their way. They must some fountaions to hold a building so heavy.

Great idea44.gif There's a big lack of modern stile malls and it would be so suitable 29.gif
So, if you decide to make a mall as prerelease for the Burj Dubai, I would be honored may providing you some moddelling help oder anything19.gif

And: If may your computer gets very slow on some parts oder something doesn't work how you want it to, don't give up. It's nerving but good to train patience22.gif

And maybe nothing is interessted in the story of my ava, but I will tell you18.gif
It's nothing special, just my favourite Berlin building (yes I'm from Berlin2.gif), the Kaiser Wilhelm Ged

If I didn't care about this project as much as I do, I would just say that it looks great and that it is perfect right now.

While I do think it looks great - in fact it looks UBER great, there is one thing nagging at me. Where the *** is the door?

Are you planning to build a base like the one in Fox's post, or are you going to leave it like this? If you leave it like this, please add several large doors!

Let's just say I visited the restroom before I saw this picture...
    quote>
Nintendowmaster, what do you mean with that?

@jp walker: Yes, the shape indeed has as story: It is based on a desert flower that is native in Dubai. If you look from the top it is like the three sidewings are the petals.

@fox: Thanks for the pics, I know them. Dunno bout the mall... Wanna get finished with the big one. So much work ahead...

@fstpaced: thanks alot :-) Great work with your avatar. Didn't know you can do gifs in photoshop.

@madawac: thanks :-) I won't give up ;-) Everybody's so supportive here, makes it so much more fun! Are you going the rebuilt the Gedaechtniskirche like it used to be before it was damaged?

MayorTim & mcarch and everybody: Don't worry, the shown base is only of the main tower, not the base. I chose to seperate the base because I wann make it very detailed and it will probably be tough to render it. The base is another 32 meters (or 100 feet) high. The lot itself will be another story. I don't know yet how big and detailed I will make it.

    By the way:
Planning for the High Rise is concluded. We are through counting. HIGHRISING IS STARTING!

Now I announced a pic of the future Dubai Downtown, here it is:

Neeeee! NEEEEE! I can't wait for this building.9.gif

Have you given any thought to the stats for the final structure? Given the nature of the habitation inside, it is unlikely that the real building will house even 5,000 people, despite its 189 floors. That would make the building vey easy to integrate into a normal high density city, but would be low by SC4 standards for a building of its size.

ON THE OTHER HAND... if it were to have an inflated population (like 10 or more thousand) would it be able to interact well with buildings like Petronas or the WTC that are having problems staying inhabited in Sim Cities? This might be interesting to test.

EDIT: Egad, actually there are only 700 apartments. The rest is commercial (although the apartments make up the bulk of the tower).

hey andi, ya better put your hardhat and parachute on !! ( it's a long way down18.gif )  LOL, just joking... I was wondering about the mall myself, but i didn't realize it was that much more heighth added to it....  definetly would make rendering issues huh??

I think what nintendomaster ment, was that it's a good thing he went to restroom first... otherwise he might not had made it 18.gif18.gif18.gif

I don't know about the past versions of photoshop, but you can in CS... ( make gifs )

Keep it up bro! hope to see the first update on the upward construction soon!!!

Wow, the pic of Dubai's downtwon is simply stunning, it looks so... futuristc1.gif
And this pic I think, you can get a good idea of the dimension the Burj Dubai has, 'cause you got the other buildings arround to compare.
    Something about Dubai nerves me:
There are so many similar skyscrapers, that makes it sometimes a bit boring to look at new planned building complexes in Dubai23.gif

Actually I wanted to rebuild the pre-war Ged

I think they are similar because there aren't actually and planned buildings there yet. That is just what they expect, so there aren't any detailed buildings in that model.

How did you make this building if the final height and floor number hasn't been decided yet? Also will you include the radio tower on top that will move up and down to confuse people about the actual height(eventhough this can't be done in Simcity7.gif). I read that the pilings that hold the foundation go 160 feet into bedrock. Those 700 apartments sold in less than eight hours [:0]

I did a little research on that Under Construction photo, it looked too framiliar.  I then took a look through a book of skyscrapers I have, which I have about 50 of them, and I found the exact photo in my building archives of the CN Tower under construction.  Where is it you found that photo?  Becuase someone is trying to pass it off as something it really isn't.

@Nintendomaster, I don't have any clue what you're talking about... Do you refer to the pic that Fox posted of the construction site of the real Burj? I tell you: it is real! I've seen a lot of pic of the real Burj construction site from different people.

@ZeramZeram: I don't think 5000 people is enough for the building. It's double high than World Trade Center and one World Trade Center Tower hosted 25000 people. What do you mean with that: ON THE OTHER HAND... if it were to have an inflated population (like 10 or more thousand) would it be able to interact well with buildings like Petronas or the WTC that are having problems staying inhabited in Sim Cities? This might be interesting to test.

@fstpaced: Do you mean the base? The base isn't the mall. The Dubai Mall is giant and will be constructed next to the Tower. And thanks for letting me know what Nintendomaster meant ;-)

@Dupontfan24: I had to decide the height of my tower. Since I guess that in the time of the construction of the tower there will be another project anounneced that exceeds the height of 705 meters (official minimum heiht of the Burj) and after that the Burj will be built even higher to rule again, I decided to make it about 800 meters in game. I havn't heard or seen anything about a radio tower. I will stick with the official renderings.

@Nintendomaster: There are lots of sites hosting various pictures like that of the construction site... it would be shocking if they are fake considering some of them are corporate sites!

@Andisart: If you are making the building residential, and want it to resemble the real building, then how many people do you think would live in 700 apartments? 50,000?! Must be big apartments! (this is in no way to be construed as me stating I think it should be realistic necessarily... just pointing out that the building will probably only have 2,000 or so inhabitants).

Remember, just one of the WTC towers had more square feet than both the Petronas Towers. They had a LOT of people in one space.
