If people want inspiration for huge sculptures/statues to build
How about doing Angel Of the North which has (almost) the wingspan of a Jumbo Jet (54 metres) and is 20 metres tall.

Date: 2/26/2005 4:56:57 PM Author: XSpiderman Judging by what I saw in those pictures, Aon looks pretty easy. You could definitely attempt to create that, I think the hardest part will be to find the right textures and font for the Aon logo at the top. Why don't you give it a try?

I might, I dont know Im not the greatest BATer though....

I was driving too work today after playing SC4 all weekend and realized how little real life buildings we have.

No funeral homes.
Not enough small drive up banks.
Small corner taverns.

Driving down a main street here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin i noticed residential, two family houses and then every so often a small one floor business where things like flower shops, small pet stores, a vacuum repair shop, a watch repair shop, local barborshop, tanning salons and things like that pop up.  Just a small diner where on the floor above is an apartment.  Small two floor offices.  A Jackson Hewitt Tax Service to get your taxes done at.  An Edward Jones to do some financial planning.  A Bridal store.  These things we need more of.

Take a drive through a small rural town, you have the local diner,a small drug store, a pizza place and these buildings don't look new, they look weathered.  A Small bowling alley with manual pinsetters. An old tavern where the locals go to shoot the B.S.

All these things create more to reality than anything else.

We don't need the skyscrapers we need more reality buildings.

If someone could make a small 2 story glass structure with stairs going up, and an elevator to the side, and contact either tropod or redlotus, it'd would be a nice building for the NAM Pedestion walkway start/end piece.

Lake Point Tower, Chicago IL

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//May11195.jpg align=baseline>

77 floors, ~700 feet tall, bronze-plated outer wall.  I'd say around 7,000 residents.  Condos in here can go for up to a million dollars, so it's definitely R

Whie searching for some cool downloads a thought raced through my cheesy mind and I thought i'd pass it on as a request.

What about a set of large off highway dump trucks and huge shovels for a strip mine? If you ask me there's alot of potential for a strip mine in many of the maps out there.    So lets see some heavy haulage equipment and related items

Lake Point Tower would be pretty cool. It has got very nice lines. $1,000,000 seemed quite cheap to me, compared to London real estate prices. In London, in a tower like that, the apartments would probably start from about $1,000,000, and go up to about $10,000,000 for the penthouses! no kidding or exagurating here.

I would love it if someone could make a Virgin Megastore Really?  Where are those shops??  Most people i know, me included, consider the Virgin Megastore on Tottenham Court Road (London) to be some form of hell on earth, though there is nothing wrong with the actual buildings in your post 2.gif

I always think that it is a bit odd having real brand names in the game, i mean it is like a totally different world in SC4

How about some Art Nouveau masterpieces?

Pohjola insurance company, Helsinki. I absolutely love this one, it's so unique. Take a look at some of it's amazing and (quite bizarre) details. Unfortunately they would probably be impossible to model.

I have added a post to the end of the Lot request thread at this location:

This thread details my plan for a better garbage management solution than the game currently allows, through the use of some realistic and balanced lots. Hope you find it interesting.

I know we already have alot of train stations on the exchange, but living in windsor ontario, we only have a very small version of the Via Rail stations. Since my father works there, would someone be able to make a BAT for me to honor him with? 44.gif I DON'T want a model of the windsor one though, 'cos its so pathetic.

Thanks! 44.gif

hi everyone,

a few months ago i went cold turkey on SC4 due to RL issues, and now i'm ready for more12.gif

the only thing i still miss is planning tools. as one of the most hard-to-control concept of this game (at least it is for me) is transit, why not having all sorts of roads and mass transit buildings that are merely place holders?
here are the specs:
1. all kinds of teransit buildings and streets (at least the basic ones, or just the big ones, avenues rails and hiways, maybe)
2. clear way of differentiating them from real lots (for example, roads as black stripes).
3. cost nothing (plopping and maintianance)
4. have zero capacity
5. will appear on the overall transit map correctly (great for planning)

since i have no idea how to make that, and since i think it will boost the fun for many many city developers in this community, i'm asking someone else to pick up the gauntlet.

thanks you in advance!

P.S. since i haven't been around for quite a while, i'm not sure if this issue has been addressed in the past, and searching got me nothing, so i'm asking now.

I would like to see a bunch of small town/city businesses (you know before malls. Walmarts and fast food restaurants)  They really wouldn't need to be up to the major efforts of the group at large and I wouldn't think very hard to be pumped out (this from someone who knows nothing of lot building).

These are examples (keep them small and local): bars, beauty shops, lunch/breakfast spots (oriental, mexican, italian, were the farmers/locals go for coffee in the morning to get an eye opener and shoot the breeze) laundrymats,  accountants, lawyers, mom & pop markets, doctors, dentists, video rentals, funeral homes,  sporting store (fishing and hunting equipment and such), bread discount outlets, drug store/pharmacies, etc, etc, etc, etc.. The list could go on and on.

BTW as I am writing this I can see problems with growing versions and we all know that ploppables fall short in the RCI world.  Damn, I wish you genuises could break that barrier.

I just wrote a request also for such items (hard not to double request somethings on a 35 page thread).  I completely echo your words.  I worked for a while in a couple of small ag and timber coummunities in the California dessert and Oregon but I know these types of items are not exclusive to just these areas.

Grampa Al has resurrected the farming world and these are the type of support businesses that make up such towns/areas.
