Moved to ST Exchange for better exposure. 2.gif
Thanks for that. I thought the STEX forum was for queries and chat about the actual exchange, not for upcoming releases.

Everyone, I forgot about the right hand side drivers. I will be doing ones for you guys as well but just keep in mind that LHS lots get top priority. If Swamper 77 is reading this, I still need help with texturing in the what have I done wrong thread. Thanks.

Nice idea and I like the look of this. Just one point though, the speed limit for the UK is 70 Mph (well the legal limit anyway lol.) Keep up the good work.

Will there be a version with km/h on the right side? I men like a metric version instead of imperial.

What numbers will be available? I tend to vary between the degree of development and road design.

    In general:

I prefer to use 40 km/h (25 mph) or less on streets.

Roads in urban areas I tend to vary between 40 and 60 km/h (25-35 mph) depending on the development type and use of the road, with 50 km/h (30 mph) the most common.

Avenues vary substantially between 50 and 80 km/h (30-50 mph) in urban areas, with 50 in storefront development and downtowns, 60 on suburban and moderate-development avenues, 70 with light frontage and 80 where used as expressway-grade roads. 60 km/h (35 mph) is the most common.

Highways I tend to go with 90 km/h (55 mph) in some urban sections, and 100 or 110 km/h (65-70 mph) in suburban and rural areas.

Rural roads are preferred for 80 km/h (50 mph), except on the more important ones where 90 km/h (55 mph) is used.

Rural avenues I almost always set at 90 km/h (55 mph).

These lots are based on KPH or in other words, metric. They can be used as MPH. These lots are based on Australia, mainly Victoria. I will be doing speed limits first. Probably the following: 110, 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50 & 40. Then I would go onto probably the yellow diamond intersection signs. If the sign can fit onto one lane of SC4 road and can be read clearly, I would most likely do it. I will post a list at the top of this thread of the lots I would probably do. My ideas and requests and strike them out as I do them. But at the moment, I'm having trouble putting multiple textures into a dat. If anyone can help with this please visit THIS THREAD.  If I can't get over this hurdle, I can't produce anymore lots.

And Heiks, I said earlier that I will be doing right hand side lots as well but the left gets priority & i'm going to stick by that.

Ok thanks. I thought you were basing it on MPH

If you could make one like the ones in London's congestion charge zone, it would go very well with goldiva's Electronic toll booth.

39.gifGood news people of SimTropolis. I have released Version 1.0 of my Painted Road Sign Lots39.gif for LHS drivers. Jeronij is now helping me with this project.  I create the textures, then I send them to him, then he puts them in a dat, sends them back to me, i place custom icons and descriptions then release it on the STEX. I am now working on a RHS version. If you want a copy of the LHS version, click the picture in my signature below. Enjoy.

My lots are for Rush Hour / Deluxe Only. It won't work with regular SC4 because my lots are Transit Enabled (cars and vehicles can drive through the lot) & Transit Enabled Lots are only available in Rush Hour. If you don't have it, I urge you to buy it. It's great.

I have just updated my RHS version of my lots to include 14 new speed limit lots. Take a look by clicking on my signature picture and then clicking on the RHS version.

    Enjoy!44.gif

    @blackbeard:

the difference between imperial and metric is:

    the source of the metric system is the equator (40.000 KM 49.gif) and water (1 dm3 49.gif = 1 kg or 1 m3 49.gif = 1 t)
because of this the metric is logical, easy to use, easy to convert to each other, easy to work with modern and all based on the number 10 (human beings normally have 10 fingers)

that's why the civilized world uses metric system!

Actually these days the metre is defined as a certain number of wavelengths of a certain form of light (where light means the whole electromagnetic spectrum), just to make it confusing.

Actually blackbeard, almost all european nations that discovered the world used metrics instead of imperial systems. why u ask42.gif? maybe becuse they didn't want to base thier mathemtical system on the size of an ancient british kings foot size.2.gif

39.gifI am proud to announce that the Painted Road Sign Lots Project is reopened (Cuts ribbon!)39.gif
This means that I am taking your requests. I will accept any request that can fit on a lane of road and can be seen clearly.
Why am I reopening this? Because of the SC4 tool being released, I can now create textures with ease and without sending e-mail files over to get put into dats.

For more details, please see the first post in this thread for updated information!

Ok, I have decided that I will stop updating these road sign lots if there is no public demand. If you would like more to be made, please comment, suggest and anything like that or I will stop making more until someone does reply.

Thanks. I feel terrible if i'm making stuff for no reason.

    Whoa, that sounds desperate...34.gif

Well, all I can say is that I'd probably use the 30 speed limit sign, and maybe the 50, too - you wouldn't really find any other speed limit painted onto the streets where I live. I haven't downloaded them so far, though... although I gotta say that they're very well done, and for both texture versions!

I just have a few questions:
    1) I suppose these can't be plopped next to another, right? (not that that would be a big problem)
    2) Are they affected by the bug that makes SC4 crash when you touch a transit-enabled lot while you're fiddling around with NAM puzzle pieces?
    3) Can zones develop where these signs are applied?

    First, thanks for replying

1: I'm not sure if you mean 2 next to each other on the same road (up & down. The direction the road runs through 1 lot) or 2 next (to the left and right) to each other. If you mean left and right yes, if you mean up and down no.
2: Yes it does. Every single TE lot made for SC4 is affected by this bug which does crash the game if any part of the puzzle piece plopping tool touches one.
3: You can still zone where there is one but make sure there a property developing on a part of the road with one is at least 2 grid squares wide so sims can still access the property.
