David, where do find all those tricks! I never heard of that Ctrl-Shift-C combo before!!!! this is simply crazy! How many times was I asking myself if that part of the map was higher or lower than this one.... and often was wrong in my estimation! That's one heck of a good trick! And in your answer to Sylvio, you talked about ploppable (or plopable, take your pick) snow!.... I heard you, I heard you! Hehehe.... seriously that would be great!

Anyhow, good to be back and looking at all the amazing work that has been done while I was gone.

Take care my friend

We left off with Craig's (cityhawk) comment near the top of this page.

    First though...

    ...trumpet fanfare...

We did it!  The waterfalls hit 1,000 DLs from the STEX this morning.

    hit1000wfkx5.jpg

I knew we were close, so I checked and...there you have it.

Thanks again for the tremendous interest in this little project.  I continue to fiddle with the waterfalls, btw.  There may be a v2.0 in your future.

    On to the mail...

Anyway, hope you get the 'puter probs addressed and URA sees another update soon.  Take care and thanks, as always, for your nice comments.

your_adress_here  Hi, and welcome to 3RR.

Just read through ALL the pages of your CJ right nowquote>

When I see comments like this, it leaves me feeling like I must be getting something right.  It's hard to express the appreciation I have when folks take the time to show an interest in what I'm up to.  I had hoped when I started 3RR about five months ago that sharing my SC4 experiences might be useful to some...that's borne out every time I see a "hey, didn't know you could do that" comment or a link to 3RR in response to a question someone asked.

I'm trying to keep my early posts on 3RR updated as well, and make things easy to access through the use of such things as direct links and a detailed table of comments, which you can hop to instantly by clicking the link in my sig.  I've also, speaking of the TOC, begun noting the nics of the folks whp commented on each page.  Hopefully this will be useful as well.

Didn't mean to toot my own horn in responding to you, your_adress_here.  Thanks for stopping by, and I'll do my best to make sure 3RR remains worthy of the praise you've given it.

Hi again Dedgren, I haven't posted here in a while, but… everything looks great. That contour trick is one I will now be using a lot. It will come in very handy in certain situations. I have been playing this game for 2 and a bit years now and have never seen it used or how to do it. So, thanks for sharing your “knowledge!”
The maps look wonderful. It may sound strange, but I could look at a map for hours. In fact, I did the other day... I like how you have the background and the heights of the peaks, etc. on the maps. Gives them that extra something. Excellent work.
Also, congratulations on reaching 1000 downloads on two occasions. Quite an achievement in my opinion. More than 2000 people in the world have something that you made.
Anyway, I will try to stop by here at least once a week, so I can’t wait to see whats next…

    Hi David.

Congrats on the 1000 downloads of both of your ploppable water additions. I haven't downloaded them yet, as I still have to figure out how to use the ploppable water (though your tutorials are very helpful for that). I already have an idea, where I could use it in Acorn Creek.

Even though you didn't use the SC4 Terraformer Tool for doing the map, the idea of using it still is in my mind (credits go to Rayden then 2.gif). When I did my map I also took the "all off" data view, the "traffic" view and additionally the "zones" view (for highlighting of the settled area), then I put them together in Photoshop. The result looked very good, but it's been very time-consuming to do too. Especially keeping the relief turned out to be tricky: The terraformer tool might facilate that a little, but I'll need to check that (if I finally manage to install the tool lol).

About the Ctrl-Shift-C combo (as John pointed out): I accidently hit it a couple of times before, but never realized what it was exactly 4.gif. Thanks.

    Take care.

    - Phil

Hey buddy. I missed the question you had concerning my crusader helmet. To be honest it was something I got from the internet. I'm not really sure where or when it's from. A little secret, this is the helmet picture I used to create the idea for  my Smaller Knight Statue . 2.gif BTW. I just love your waterfalls. Howd you do it? I'm assuming it's got something to do with the reader?? See ya soon mate..

    STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
