The concept is fabulous. I just hope this particular CJ has life left in it. Can't wait for the big update...

    HELP!!!!

Hi all, sorry for the long interruption: my hard disk has totally crashed and apparently the only way I can fix the problem is by formatting it... 8.gif Do you know a good way to save my cities ? I was thinking, is it possible if I save my current SC4 folder onto a CD or something, format the disk, reinstall the game and replace the new SC4 folder by the old copy?? 42.gif If anyone has experienced the same problem let me know please!! I'd really feel sorry if Ashby Quays was lost... Pretty please... 30.gif

I don't see why shouldn't be able to back up your SimCity folder.  If possible, I would just copy my plugin and region folder to a CD and then just move them back after you reinstall SC4.  You would have to be able to access the folder first of course....

I think the main files for Ashby Quays will probably be all in the region folder. You could always send that to my GMail account (I've got more than enough space): kazeprogressa at gmail.com

YOu should always have two partitions on your HDD. one small for Windows, and one big for progs and games. That way, you don't loose any stuff when you format...

    OH NO!! X223!

I hope the region is still loadable...
what you should do first: Burn the total SimCity4 folder at a CD. Just do it, it's plain easy. If the folder is to big, delete some regions BUT NOT THE PLUGINS AND ASBEY QUAYS!!

then install windows and all the stuff again.

I too had some trouble, I formatted mine yesterday.

OK Clearly I'm going from trouble to trouble with SC4. My - old - PC can't handle Ashby Quays anymore. The lag has just made it totally impossible for me to keep playing.

So here's my suggestion: I really enjoy this CJ, apparently some of you do too, so why not start a new interactive CJ, better,  faster, and more beautiful with smaller cities (mostly small/medium) ??? 44.gif I'd really love for you to keep participating, so let me know what you think, and if enough people are willing to stick to this project, we'll start a new adventure from scratch with new ideas and more interactivity!!

I'd love to see that happen! I love this CJ, but if your comp can't handle it anymore, feel free to start another region.

I've actually partly created a landscape of 25 medium cities, and once I do finish that we could use that (I'll get some screenshots at this point).

It's probably pretty useless, but this is the map I've created (entirely using the God Mode tools):

Hey what's useless about that42.gif The map looks great, and all by hand too......Nice job.29.gif  I don't even mess around with God Mode Terraforming, because I suck at it.28.gif  I see you said you made all medium size cities.  I for one, like to do the same thing...I like to keep my regions fairly small also19.gif...Anyway....Great Job....and now give us a poll...9.gif

LET THE LAST POLL BE ABOUT: WHAT SHOULD BE THE NEXT REGION FOR MY NEW CJ??

IT COULD BE A GREAT IDEA WITH THIS POLL I THINK...31.gif

*blushes madly at compliments directed at map* Well, for what it's worth... I can't do the in-game terraforming perfected by jeronij and Darmok. At all.

I tried to create a variety of cities... so the top left corner, for instance, has a nice long coastline but less buildable land and hence will be chosen by someone who prefers pretty tourist hotspots to towering CBDs (that would be me then 2.gif) while the central area, with a small mesa near water, will definitely produce the big C$$$ buildings... and then there's the rocky headland of the bottom right corner... there's plenty there. This will ensure a very diverse region, I hope 1.gif

I propose creating an interactive CJ based on this map. This could take a variety of forms, and I may consult x2230062 and PhatHead (and others) on the best way to do it. Kudos to the former for creating the concept of an interactive CJ.
