For those of you who like electric guitars

    Gibson Spanish Electric Microsite

    zzavintrojune2006down7vf.jpg

Daniel - Shadow_Assassin - Ensenada - That City in the east

Yep my card was available in august 2005, I've (re)installed the second driver made for it. And it's working great... I'll have to test it with my other games though... I hope it'll go smooth.

You'll see in this update that the ponds will extend, and that they will be part of a bigger "pond network".

    See you

Silvio - Rayden - Little Italy MD (Now closed)

    Hola Silvio,

No need for apologies, I'm glad to see you. And as I've been very scarce in the forums since the beginning of 2007, I can't decently hold a grudge.

Yeah I just wanted to have fun with animated gif's, it's quite simple to do and add a little something to the whole experience.

If you like comic books, you should read Special Eddie Gotham City... simply great!

A project you say? is it SC4 related? If so, can't wait to see that.

I'm interested in Nexis stuff, Fred created a lot of unique pieces! I'll pm you about that.

I'll let you go back to work, must not aggravate the boss!

    Take care amigo.

    -John

    Sobol

    Hi Sobol,

I can understand going crazy with terraforming, the hard part is to know when to stop... WINK

You got it, practicing is the best way to learn, and sometimes we come with our best ideas when practicing, because we're not bound by the surrounding areas... and as such are more free to create.

Have a good weekend, and continue to have fun!

    -John

    Bruce - Schulmanator - Schulmania

    Hey Bruce,

Well, I can,t wait to see David's new ploppable water, that will be be something else!

    See you

David (dedgren) - Three Rivers Region - MD

David, somewhat, I'll get you for this! hehehe.....

    -John

    Niek - Nik-nik

You're right Niek, he is a tease! But.... I must admit I opened the door, and it was rather funny... but I'll get him anyway. WINK

No more lag! What a relief, it's so much fun to be able to play without having to wait 10 seconds between moves!

Yep those smooth curves are NAM pieces, really great looking and quite easy to use.

Well, when I was his age, it was Meccano, Tinkertoys and such... not very different! And I'm sure that my mother was not always happy to find nuts and bolts everywhere on the carpet and the couch.

    Take care my friend

    -John

Gilligone - The headwaters of Nemonos

I just thought to have some fun with an animated gif...

The flora is not so hard to do, key word is patience... because sometimes, some pieces don't want to cooperate and plop where we want them, so we have to find some ways to trick the eye!

    See you!

    Godwin

    Hey Godwin,

    yes almost there!

    penguin007

    Welcome to Anduin Valley Will,

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Come back whenever you want!

    JanYpe

Yep, the rain here can be quite, how shall I say, filling.... that's the word... filling! hehehe...

The rail line will undergo some (small) adjustments, or I should say, additions... we'll see later on.

    See you!

Dan - La Plaisance County (Still the best County South of Canada!)

    Hey Dan!

Now that is a good surprise! I'm sure glad to know you're still there! Bah... there's no mastery, just havin' some fun you know it. And a good way for me to test my patience, you know that we Irish are not very good at that... so it must be my curse to play this game, hehehe...

Seriously I'm really glad to read you. My guitar playing is improving, I can now jam (not perfectly) along with friends, without making to many mistakes, my tone is quite constant with some exceptions on some complicated chords. But as someone famous (but nobody knows who..) once said "Getting there is half the fun" so I'm not worrying about those details, they'll improve with time.

I don't know when I'll go back in the Toronto area though! It's a shame we couldn't meet the last time... well... who knows!

Next time I go I'll be sure to inform you, and maybe we'll be able to (try to) do some music together!

Dan, give my regards to your familly and drop by anytime, it's always a genuine pleasure to hear from you!

Bye for now and take care

    -John

Robin - (Rooker1) - Xania a tour of my world

    Hey Robin,

I'm fine, really fine... and you?

I really like creating those ponds, they do add a certain "je ne sais quoi" to a rural setup, as you say they do make them more "real looking".

Well, doing Anduin Valley was exactly that, a personnal challenge to go through an entire map (or almost...) without destroying or abandoning... I've never done it before... I was like you doing two, sometimes three or four cities and that was it... so I just wanted to prove myself that I could do it. (knocking on wood, I'm almost there..)

In my next (urban) city I think I'll also try (again) the GLR, now that it is dragable.. (sic) I don't know when I'll have the time to do it though! After Anôrien, I'll try my hand on the collaborative project in 3RR with David, (I promised you know.... and even if he is a tease sometimes. overall he's a good egg... WINK ) But I sure what to do it a some point, just as another challenge because big cities are not something I'm familiar with.

The guitar playing is slowly improving and I'm having fun playing, and in the end it's all that matters.

Glad to know that the family is doing well, and I wish them (and you of course!) the best summer ever.

    See you soon Robin.

    John

    IDS2

    Thanks IDS2,

Well it is time consuming, but at last, it's almost real time, that is, a 20 min setup do take 20 minutes, not an hour and a half like it use to take recently, and that's why my picture reserve went down to zero... playing was almost a chore... but no more! Thanks to that old video driver!

    Anyhow, thanks for the support!

    See you!

    Hester

Hi Hester, welcome to Anduin Valley.

Very nice avatar by the way!

Lurk all you want, and if you have any question, don't hesitate to ask!

    See you!

Jacky - Return to Paradise Falls

    Hi Jacky,

Hehehe... I guess we're all entitled to our own little bad jokes hey!

I've tried TWRECKS lots, but I'm still missing a dependency, I'll have to check on that.

Dan stopped by, as you can see a few posts above... I was glad to have some news. I understand that he doesn't have the time to play the game these days, If I ever form a band, I'm not sure I'll continue to play either. With some friends we'll be starting regular jam sessions and I guess that my game time will yet diminish.... music is a harsh mistress!

Yes, the lag is now gone (for good I hope...)

Take care my friend, and have a great week!

    -John

Bernhard (Nardo) - Urland a (mostly) rural coastline

    Hey Bernhard,

(writing this Thursday on my lunch hour...) I just met Richard (NOT Cleaner475 BTW... hehehe), he came back from Istambul, and again wants to thank you for all your help! I'll send you an URL by PM, for his photo albums on the net. He said that your tips were VERY helpful and facilitated his stay in Istambul.

Back to topic, if I could I'd send the rain, to you, here we don't need that much... it rains almost every other day since the beginning of summer so far!

Yeah I've also heard about old ATI drivers being better, but the main problem was almost directed at the CATALYST software, usually when only using the drivers, it was OK... not in my case, I really had to find one of the oldest drivers to fix the problem. Anyhow, it's OK now and I'm really satisfied. (Next video card I'll buy will be an NVidia...).

As for the empty space, you'll get a good idea of how that sector will develop in this update...

Take care and send my best to your wife.

    -John

Richard - Cleaner475 - The biggest CJ Ever

    Hi Richard,

    Thanks for the support man!

    See you.

Benedict - The Mayors of Ellis Valley

    Hey Benedict,

Nice use of Tina Turner's song... hehehe....

Yep, taking the time to take all those in the rain, for you people.... I was really soaked! Sheesh the things we do for our CJ's....

    See you in Ellis Valley!

    Take care

And now people, brace yourselves for another technical update, here's...

Spent almost all the free time I had this morning trying to upload my pics.... bad connection with the server I guess... for some pics it took four and even five tries before they uploaded!

Anyhow now it's done, I hope you'll enjoy the update, more pics are in the pipeline, I have perhaps three new updates worth of the stuff... no shortage in sight!

To all, enjoy your weekend, and see you next friday!

For those of you who like guitar, take the time to visit Gibson Spanish Electric Microsite , and click on "videos" you'll find some interesting performances as well as good anecdotes. BTW this is my dream guitar the ES-335.... I wish I could  buy one... maybe one day!

    In the meantime

Take care and enjoy life 10.gif

    Whoa..

    Welcome to page 150.

    Bravo.. bravo.

Awesome update. Yea, the terraforming thing is interesting. I went absolutely crazy on one of the regions. Oh well. I did notice something about the various wall sets... steepness. Ugh. Now I need to practive not making anything too steep so I could properly wall/support the flat region.

    Another spectacular update.

Glad to hear it's going smoother, of course, sorry to hear it took so long to upload the pics, I hate when a server crashes.

When I look at Anorien I see several "trademarks" of yours...the perfection of the bridges, the brush and cattails around the little streams...so incredibly beautiful that I almost forget it's a game. They may not be trademarks but they're definitely yours.

    EDIT: wait a minute...where'd my post go...next page...whoa...PAGE 150!!!!!! Finally!

    Well I'm a-gonna raise a fuss, I'm gonna raise a holler
About workin' all summer just to try an' earn a dollar
Everytime I call my baby, to try to get a date
My boss says, "No dice, son, you gotta work late"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues

Well my mom 'n' papa told me, "Son, you gotta make some money
If you wanna use the car to go ridin' next Sunday"
Well I didn't go to work, told the boss I was sick
"Now you can't use the car 'cause you didn't work a lick"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues

I'm gonna take two weeks, gonna have a vacation
I'm gonna take my problem to the United Nation
Well I called my congressman and he said quote
"I'd like to help you son, but you're too young to vote"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues

Awww, man, it's Friday afternoon, the sun is shining, the birds are singin', it's HOT, and I gotta work...but you know how I love to play those songs for you.  That's right, give me a call on the request line, and I'll play your favorite summertime song.  Highs expected to be near the upper thirties for the next couple days, then a cooling trend is on the way.  In summertime news, the world record for number of hotdogs consumed was broken this Independence Day at Coney Island, by Joey Chesnut.  Chesnut broke his former record of 59 1/2, inhaling 66 franks in less than 20 minutes.  Unbeknownst to many, Chesnut is also a member of the gaming site Simtropolis, where he goes by the user name, ilikehotdogsalot...

    Hey, John,

That's probably the first update on which I missed commenting for some time.  My weekend get-together and the holiday cut into things, in a good way, tho.  And work continues to be insane in the meanwhile.  It was lovely to get away to the cabin, to visit, catch up, eat, hike, go boating, eat, enjoy nature, play bacci ball, take a moonlit stroll together, build the fire, sing songs, oh, and did I mention eat?  We had smores of course, but also, Killer Brownies (with ice cream and hot fudge).  There were three of us on the couch, a quite slim guy on one end, me in the middle, and a gal just a tad portlier than myself on the other end.  We were all stuffed, even Slim Guy, and for a second the only sounds were crickets, the fire popping, then--CRASH--the leg of the couch gave way!!  Slim Guy flew in the air a few inches but was luckily unhurt.  Us gals remained firmly grounded and closer together, with incurable giggles, which everyone else caught.  I guess the hiking-to-eating ratio was not enough.  The phrase "couch breakin' good" has been coined to describe any delectable and fattening treat from here on out.

The update(s), oh, yes, one hundred and fifty lovely pages of updates, we are not worthy.  Love the rain.  I did a rain mask and posted it on SC4D in Altered Images.  Those overpasses are a bit tricky at times, a bit up or down, blast, adjust land level, redo, there!  I can't wait to see the riverside residential neighborhood.  The pond network has proven a good chance to highlight your skill for details.  Now we have Coke, Pepsi, and beer, that will be needed for those scorching summer days, too.  One doesn't mind industry when it is so nicely presented.  Hey, good to see the fake driveway, that does come in handy thanks to pilotdaryl.  And it avoids those pesky stop signs on the main road.

Well, I must be off, have a great weekend, til Friday next, then.

    Lovely update John.

I really like the work with the streams. Your technique for hiding the edges and glitches is very useful.

The streams really flesh the area out.

I notice you use the rail mod (peg's I presume) that put gravel under the tracks. It seems you get mixed results with the textures showing up, depending on zoom levels and direction of tracks.

I have been using pegs mod, but am not sure I'm gonna keep it in because of the mixed results.

150 pages of pure excellence! How many more do you have left in you? Plenty, I'm hoping.

    Take care

    Phil

    Hi John,

    What a great update again.

The Coca-Cola plant is well fitted with the additional parking lot. Good thinking there.

Superb combo the sugar plant and the Ol' Brewery. Pic 16 is magnificent, so you thought too judging from your banner.

Pic 14. Eagle Eye, John! The big secret is out now. Great reason to have that Pepsi plant next to the Brewery. LOL.

One point of critism, why no parking lot as with Coca-Cola?

I also notice that you do not use a lot of public transportation. Why is that. Judging from the Live Earth movement nowadays, public tansportation is a must.

I had big fun the other day when I went out fishing (with nets) with the boys. We caught a frog or two, which immediatelly jumped out of the net of course and some sticklebacks. But as Jop suggested to fish a bit more down stream I wetted my boots as I sunk in the sand underground.

As soon as I poored the water out of my boots Pim thought to have an unplanned bath. Of course Jop wanted to do the same as Pim now got a lot of attention. So at the end of the afternoon I returned home with wet feet and two wet boys, but man did we have a lot of fun!

Wishing you all the fun too.

    Hello John,

First off, that link you gave to the Gibson site.  I checked it out.  I don't know much about these people or guitars, but holy man,  BB King and Freddie King. The two guys are incredible.  Can you play anything from one of them?  Is this your type of music/inspiration for playing guitar?  It's always nice to learn something about another's passions.  And sure this is one of yours already.

As I'm sure another one would be SC4, as this was another awesome update.  I think you have become the plop water/ rural King master.  Okay, okay I know I need to learn when to stop, but it was a really good update.  Very nice choices with the industrial lots.  I personnelly love those big lots.  I always say you can't have enough industry and they can never be too big.  That's why I'm so excited Jestarr and Citynut are working together on the Germany VW Plant.  It's planned to be 25 x 25.  And so far they are at 15 x 8.  Check this out.

Anyways, great update and I'll see you again soon my friend.

I would have bet that I would see the new filler lots in AVN live ... 30.gif

So you have Pepsi and Cola in the same hood ... interesting ... years in Germany ago BurgerKing was selling Pepsi and McDonalds CocaCola but in the last years AFAIK BK changed to Coke  ...

As for the Pe(p)si Truck at the brewery - maybe they produce "Diesel" - mixture of 2/3 beer and 1/3 cola (of what kind ever ...) for the younger beerdrinkers. A bit sweet though ... 2.gif

If it comes to beer mixes  prefer "Radler" (in South Germany - esp. Bayern) resp. "Alsterwasser" (in North Germany) - 2/3 beer and 1/3 lemonade - not that sweet, not too much aclohol and really refreshing o hot days ... 16.gif

I must say nothing to nog for ol' naggin' nardo on this industrial area ... I like it ...

Take care and don't forget to backup!

I notice, yeah, you probably only have two or three updates left before you finish off AVR. You have a very nice water mod, too.

Benedict - The Mayors of Ellis Valley

    Hi Benedict,

Last to post last time and now first...

Glad you liked that city wide pic, it's just that it's a bit small on screen though... but those overview somewhat have a more "real feel" to them that the close ups lacks.

    Take care

    Sobol - twice

    Hi Sobol,

Thanks for the welcoming to page 150, I guess that'll be the last BIG landmark for AVR.

When doing retaining walls, or seawalls for that matter, what we must not forget is the scale of the whole thing,  in the beginning I did retaining walls that were almost vertical, I try to avoid that now, as though it does happen in RL, in the game I find that they have an exaggerated look, that would make them an almost 45 feet tall wall of concrete! I guess it's like salt, just a sprinkle will do!

And as for the sea walls, the thing to watch is the height from the water, we have to lower the land before placing those walls, so that there's about only a half or third of the wall is showing above the water line, which leaves us with a 15 to 20 feet high pier, much more realistic than a 45 feet one!

Good continuation in your testing Sobol! Hang in there!

    Take care

    -John

    SECOND POST:

Well I think I've more than 3 updtaes comming Sobol, don't worry. When AVR will be finished I'll probably have another project cooking!

    IDS2

    Hi IDS,

What you called trademarks, come from seeing David using that same water flora around his streams, he gave me the push needed to use 'em. I just adapted them to my style I guess. Fortunately, I don't have many problems with Imageschack, all in all they're pretty reliable.

And yes, page 150... who would have believed!

    see you!

    Hester

You own a Gibson!.... you lucky dog... the closest thing I have is my acoustic "pre-lawsuit" 1975 Ibanez Concord which is an exact replica of the Gibson Hummingbird, Ibanez had to stop making them in 1977 if I remember correctly. It's a really fine instrument. But these days my heart longs for the ES-335 and it's bluesy tone. Anyhow, I've started saving for it, but it'll be a long wait I guess they're around 3000$ cnd for the "basic" model.

Glad you liked the update, and here's some new pics.

    Take care.

Richard - Cleaner475 - The biggest CJ Ever

    Hi Richard, thanks,

the brewery is Wiessner Brewery by marcszar .

    See you

Liv - Livin in Sim - (Nibishookee County... hopefully...)

    Hi Liv,

WOW 66 hotdogs, buns and all??? Sheesh, I'd be dead! hehehe.... I think 6 is my limit.... well perhaps I could go for 8 but I'd skip desert then! WINK

I had so much fun reading the couch story! The moral of this story could be "Always sit in the middle of the couch!" this way if anything happens you end up with a gal (or two, if the couch breaks in the middle) on your lap... hehehe I'm not partial to smores, but killer brownies anytime! The residential sector should be done in a couple of updates, I'm still working on the industrial sector.

    See you soon m friend.

    -John

Phil - Pvarcoe - Terraforming Teton

    Hi Phil,

    How are you?

Yeah I like the ploppable water, I just wish we could have some kind of semi transparent water texture and slope conforming too.... (I know I'm asking a lot...)

As for the texture problem, what can I say, I've learned to live with it, I don't like maxis zig-zagging texture on the diagonal railway lines, and I prefer seeing PEG's texture than just the grass... so I cope with the texture quirks... nothing's perfect I guess.. and putting aside the zoom 5 problem, the only problem are the NAM pieces, long curves, under bridges pieces... and such.

How many pages left you ask.... I don't know yet... I'll finish An™rien, then I'll do a quad on David's 3RR, but after that... I'm still thinking about it, I've some Ideas to, perhaps, expand Anduin Valley... but nothing's decided yet...

In the meantime I'll finnish this one though!

    Take care my friend

    John

    Niek - Nik-nik

    Hey Niek,

No parking at the Pepsi plant you say... well you jumped the gun my friend... it was already in the plans, but the contractor was waiting for the asphalt truck to arrive WINK... same thing with the public transportation, you'll see that... though the sector is rather small so there won't be a lot of bus stop though.

So it was your turn to fill your boots! hehehe... I can just picture the boys sloshing in the stream! I'm sure you were too, but you don't want to admit it! hehehe...

Niek, have a great week, and give my best to the family.

Rooker1 - Xania a tour of my world

    Hi Robin,

I must point out that I don't have the talent those guitar players have! I enjoy playing and someday I hope to become a decent player, the guitar they're using though is my dream guitar, I'm still on the lookout for "THE BARGAIN"... and saving money in the meantime, those guitars cost usually 3000$cnd and up... (yikes..)

But for those things I can be patient. Yes they really are an inspiration to me, classic rock and blues being my favorite music, in fact the only kind of music I can't seem to develop a taste for is RAP, sorry for those who likes the genre, it doesn't reach me at all, their lyrics often (not all the rappers I agree), promote violence and for me that goes against all that music really stands for, which is beauty, harmony, hope... in fact anything positive, on the other hand I must say that I have a lot of respect for the rappers who don't go for that kind of negative behavior and are giving a message of hope in their lyrics these IMHO are poets, while I appreciate their talent as writers I just don't like the repetitive rhythm and lack of musicality compared to rock and blues (or jazz for that matter, though I don't like Fusion Jazz...) As for the blues what can I say, it really reach me, when listening to it, I find myself nodding, tapping my feet... well, you get the picture. (I could go on and on about music...)

I went I had a look at jesstar and citynut VW plant project! WOW... I'll be downloading this one as soon as it is available, that is a great looking project!

If you like blues performances, you'll find a lot of them on YouTube.

Well that's about it for now.

    Take care my friend.

    -John

Bernhard (Nardo) - Urland a (mostly) rural coastline

    Hey Bernhard,

Well I've tried the filler lots, but it seems that I'm missing some dependencies because the fences are missing!!! As soon as I correct the problem I'm giving them a try that's for sure.

Yep Pepsi and Coke in the same neighborhood... and you'll see another one in this update...

Beer and Pepsi.... (eeewww...) not my kind of drink...

Lemonade and beer, we had something like it a few years back, it was called "Tornade". Glad you like it so far, I hope you'll like what's coming at the end of this update... and  I wait for your comments on it.

    See you my friend

    John

Jacky - Return to Paradise Falls

    Hi jacky,

I guess I'll find them (the dependencies), speaking of jam sessions I had one last night.... well... let's say that we had better ones... to paraphrase Forrest Gump, jam sessions are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! But we had fun anyways.

I agree about the older buildings they do have a "je ne sais quoi" that makes them stand out.

Have a great week Jacky, and take care.

    I hope you enjoyed it.

    See you soon.

    Hi John!

The missing props for the Filler Lots are most probably the  SFBT  Essentials as written (and linked) below on the German Text under "Abhängigkeiten" (=Dependencies).  The lots have five dependencies but th essentials are the most important as they contain the fences.

Feel free to PM me if you have any further problems with the lots! 2.gif

As for beer mixed with (any kind of) cola I think the same as you but the young folks ... 18.gif

Great work again with the plopped water but you should either raise the railway line or lower the water above the fall IMHO as the high ground water may harm the stability of the railway on such a close distance.

I like the layout at the industrial sector but if possible I would move the track that connects the Rayden Transfer to the railway above the soft curve as close to the main line as possible - I don't like that big deviation - or attach a second track there as a kind of siding / rail yard of the Rayden Transfer.

Speaking of gas stations did you ever tried the SFBT Aral gas station I used in Urland? Even though / because it is typical German (you won't find ARAL outside of Germany) it has become my favorite gas station...

Nice touch with the dirt track from the railyard to the restaurants ... pedestrians prefer always the shortest route .. 2.gif

Have a nice weekend and a good time "On The Road"

    Take care and make Backups

TGIF. RL has me by the throath but I am just taking as small break to look at AVR.

    I love pic 23. 44.gif

But seriously that trail in pic 25 and 26 is just one of those perfections that you are renowned for, John. Just absolutely gorgeous and good thinking!

I love the stream, please do not say it's dedicated to my boots. lol.

That carbonated water tank with the cryoplant is a great combo especially with all those SG drink-plants around. I notice a lot of traffic at the gas station, must be a special discount day.

Anyway, about that trail, what trail did you use? Is it SG pine trail without the pine trees? I like to use that one but it always has those pines in it.

This will be my last reply in 3 weeks as I am going on holiday this weekend. We are going to camp near to my work so I can get some work done next week too, and then next week Thursday or Friday (19 or 20th) off to France.

Take care John and keep my seat at AVR warm in the meantime.

    Cheers!

    Nik-Nik

Oof.... this was an awesome update. I have an interesting terraced city going where different part of the city are cut off from each other to control traffic and pollution. There only connection are by rail and subway. Interesting stuff going on there. It one ofmy most interesting experiments yet.. though it is still to conventionally gridlike. Ugh.

When you are done with this AVR, will you make a giant picture again of how everything looks and post it up... It would be alot of fun. I am getting better with the walls, and terraforming... I really am. I am working on the road networks now, and rail too. You have inspired me.

    Thanks.

Let's sculpt some rivers in Anduin Valley! 2.gif

I see you've used those marcszar lots! I happen to be fond of them meself. The plopped river looks excellent as well. Lots of detail on the banks. I wouldn't mind being on a train passing by that gorgeous stream. Excellent use of those new manufacturing buildings, too.

What else can I say? This is perfection!

    ANDUIN VALLEY REVISITED!!!!!

This is, without a doubt, the best CJ I have ever read.

"It's the only CJ you've ever read, Alafel."

Ahem. Please ignore the little voice inside my head. Do you have any idea how long it took me to read 150 pages of this? Well, it took me a long time. But I got through it all! And I'm so glad I have a (relatively) quick internet connection.

EDIT:  Is there a mod or cheat that gets unlimited money?

This is probably the most worked, most dedicated city journal this site has ever seen! I wish I could do the same quality (and quantity) work that you've been able to do in these truly awesome 150 pages of pure dedication. Thank you for giving me a standard of urban creation. TopCliff

This is a test of the Emergency Alert System. This is only a test. (15 second tone)This is a coordinated monthly test of the broadcast stations in your area. Equipment that can quickly warn you during emergencies is being tested. If this had been an actual emergency, official messages would have followed the alert tone. This concludes this test of the Emergency Alert System.

OK, now that's done for another month, how about a word from our sponsor, Canada Dry Ginger Ale

Well, if you glanced into the sky over Bend, Oregon last weekend, you may have seen, not a bird, not a plane, it was 47 year old gas station owner Kent Couch.  Couch was on his way to Idaho with 150 helium balloons strapped to his lawn chair.  Armed with snacks, a global positioning device, instruments to measure his speed and altitude, bags of water for ballast, and a parachute, Couch reached speeds of 25 mph and made it 193 miles in 9 hours.  He was followed by a caravan of family, friends, and his chihuahua, Isabella, and landed safely in a farmer's field after becoming worried about updrafts over Hell Canyon.  I guess you could say Mr Couch is no sofa spud...he gets around...

    Hi, John,

Hey, what's radio without a little taking care of business now and then, right?

That was a nice big update.  I forgot to tell you how tickled I was that you solved your lag problem.  That paid off for us readers as well.  Mentioning the Killer Brownies must have triggered a craving, hence the Chocolate Factory.  That's my kind of industry!  I wonder if the town will now smell like chocolate?  I'm going to have to find and snag that Rayden Transfer, it's very true life.  What is the other restaurant?  That tank is nice as well.  (Some night pics, yay!)  Is it really carbonated water, or what exactly is it?  The path is truly one of those little gems that you're always thinking of.  Although the noontime trekkers had best  be a bit cautious--I see bears in those woods.  How awful to be on the way to lunch--and become lunch!!

Sorry to be so full of questions.  20.gif  You are indeed a brave and adventurous gent to slyly pick the couch middle.  3.gif  I wish you safe travels, my friend, and enjoy your trip.

    Bye for now.
