Now that is some impressive update Darmok!
Whenever I am a bit down I go to your CJ to cheer me up. You succeeded once again Thanks! 29.gif
The overpass, the noise barriers next to the railroad, the church and the playgrounds, it all fits so perfectly.

The last update is a very nice service, thank you so much.

    Darmok- A quick one...

    Pic 16, the rowhouses

    Anduin_Valley_Revisited-Rowhouses_01.jpg

Are those growing there or are you plopping them there one by one, or growing, then weeding?  Inquiring minds want to know...that's the best looking row of different yet related in size and general appearance rowhouses I've ever seen.  I get all the same kind, or different ones that look like a grab-bag collection.

    A beautiful CJ...just beautiful.

It's the extra step that takes something from normal to great. This is the case with the home depot setup. Not only did you plan for the HD development but the surrounding buildings as well... something that I hadn't thought of initially, but that seems so true to life now. If I may ask, what are the walkways that you use in figure 15? The ones with the benches and trees. Either way great as always and waiting to see more.

    Oui, pourquoi pas.

Actually, French was my first foreign language. I understand it quite well, but speaking is pretty difficult, since I'm not used to all the 'vocabulaire' anymore. English is only my second foreign language but it's much closer to German and therefore easier to me.

Now to your update, Darmok... John (I still didn't get away from your screen name, it's so catchy). The Home Depot area looks very detailed. Good placement of that BAT and great use of the noise barriers, retaining walls and trails. The small businesses are a nice touch and very realistic 'aussi'.

What's that BAT in picture 9 (the small shops row)?

That residential wall-to-wall neighborhood in picture 16 caught my eye. Tr

    AHA! A challenge!
mmmmmmmmmmm...........puzzle, puzzle. Looking closer. Anyone got a microscope so I can get closer......21.gif

Yeee, you are indeed getting better every time. It pains me to say it (NOT) but I hardly can see a flaw 46.gif
Well maybe I would use roads instead of street around the home depot. It is a traffic attractor and the community would do best to invest in good roads to carry people to and fro the Home Depot (is it some kind of Ikea?) Where did you get that Bat from, I sortof lost track of what I downloaded from STEX so I may have easily missed this one.
And maybe the community could have added another entrance from the avenue to the commercial district. One entrance (a street) may be disastrous especially with kids in the back on a Saterday morning (believe me I tried it once at my local Ikea and am still recovering). Maybe a pedestian crossing (from Jeronij?) could also be added on the avenue to enable those pedestrians to walk back and from to the commercial district.

Nice to see those bicycle paths in picture 14 (not the ones we are used from you, but these are the grey ones) they look very good there.

Great update Darmok, you still make me smile and give me a pleasant day. Thanks.

awesome update Damork, your use of the overpass with the terraformig instead of just the slope (for NAM) looks much more real, that's something I got to try and that trail with the bus stop close to the wall is really great, oh and as you said the real state market in Calenhad is really booming 29.gif

Frightening! It's just frightening how easy you make it look.

What an excellent update. From the Home depot to the residential area with tons of cool condos.

Just a super update Darmok. There's nothing more I can say 4.gif

I think I like Random Shot 8 the best. Reminds me of sprawl around here, only prettier. I'm actually not too keen on the rowhome area - I associated older rowhomes like that with a more inner city location, not lining little cul de sacs in the suburbs. The parking between the homes is a nice touch though, and very thoughtful. Great work, as always. 9.gif

Very nice commercial sector, and rowhomes looks superb as well! It gives me some nice ideas 2.gif SA mentioned about buses and a thought came to my mind - What are usual commute times in your cities, eg. Calenhad? I tried to build a city in a similiar style to yours, and commute times were a nightmare, about 60-70 minutes...

    Nice one my friend!
You just give me great ideas for my next commercial sector.
Something I really like also is the small parking lots you placed in the residential sector. I always keep them for commercial but what a good idea to place them with res. You probably did that before but I have just noticed it...don't know why?

    Again, great work John!
    Mes hommages,

    David (dedgren)
Hey David, those are New York Homes by odd from sweden
and they grow, the easiest way, is simply to zone 1x1 High density residential, wait and blast a lot! until you get what you want.
The grey ones in between, let me see.... I'll have to query! There it is, it say's "Pentonville row BSC - grey house" though I can't find it on the STEX, must be part of a set!!! I'll try with the SC4 tool, and keep you informed. EDITED LATER - Here it is:

Hi threestooges, those walkways are :

    there's also a white version :
Diagonal Trail Parks White version by jeronij
In fact every lot and BAT by Jeroni is a must.
Looking forward to see you again!

    Thanks MS!

    Sloppet
Thanks man! As for living there, just name the place there will always be a house for you in Anduin Valley!

    Phil (PhilsCafe)
Hehehe, I guess "Le vocabulaire" come naturally when one can practice in real life.
I've learned my english by reading comic books and then novels, and practiced my pronunciation by singing Beatles songs... driving my mother nuts... but that's another story! 18.gif
The name Darmok comes from a Star Trek episode, (Star Trek The Next Generation) where they meet a race that talks in local metaphor, thus incomprehensible for others.
I just thought that it would be fitting in a forum full of people from everywhere (almost) on the planet!
Anyhow back to the topic, the small shops row is : RLS Strip Mall Shopping Center by simgoober

Briliant idea with police station's communication tower! About the donught shop - shouldn't there be also a second, entrance ramp to highway? Someone could just stop to go to shop and then realize there is no way back 9.gif And commute times which I mentioned in last reply - I hoped that your answer will be as same as it is. Good to know that it is possible to build so beautiful cities without worrying about those statistics 2.gif I also think high commute times are not a reason to worry unless you get no-job zots because of it. As always great update Darmok! Every time it's a real pleasure to read and watch pics of Anduin Valley 2.gif

I totally agree with Szarkoz. The highway needs an additional ramp later on.

Now my kids are 0 (almost 1), 4 and 6 and constantly screaming for icecream, softdrinks and toilets while cruising (well, not cruising, more like stressing) the highway. Aha kids look at this wondrous exit in Calenhad, let's take a break and visit the donutshop.
Well I did have that break but I was seriously thrown back into a nightmarish stress to find the entrance to the highway (could not illegally back drive the exit ramp up due to the nearby police station). Then I woke up and found my self in the overregulated Netherlands agian. Phew!

Great Commercial district you have got there. Very nice buildings, most of them are CS$$$ judging from the nice greenish texture.

There is only one thing I could find (well this is a project under construction, so I take it easy right now 2.gif ):
Don't you hate it when I construct a great carpark and the wellfare committee decides to put a lamppost in front of the entrance or worse some benches and flower pots!

Have a great day and maybe I catch you Fridays.

Thanks for the urls for the trails, they're just what I have been looking for. I don't know why I hadn't seen them before (Jeroni makes some really good/useful things). In fact if memory serves me right, that tower and parking lot near the police station look like his work. At any rate, great job on the commercial district (07). It reminds me a bit of Santa Monica here in CA. The shower at the end is a nice touch and, I must say, that when you get upwards of 5 requests for lots/BATs you are using after one update, it is a sign of how unique/creative your design is. Always waiting for more.

    Hi Darmok!

Just being away 28 hrs on a business trip and then two updates ... geee, I am glad when I can do one Urland update per week ....

Good work with that soundwalls including that small exit. Nice place for that huge Bobbo62 market! I must commit I do love his work too!

Those Sardinia rowhouses are an nice contrast to Odd's homes. And I like to put Jeroni's parking lots between residentials too. I just wish he had made his road connection as street connection as it looks a bit ... weird if you connect two of them to a street as you saw in Urland.

I like porkissimo's police station, too, and the recycling station behind it ... 47.gif honi soit qui mal y pense ... who was it who placed a guillotine, gallows and a special recycling on the STEX??? 17.gif

Survive to the weekend my friend - only one day left ...
