gggg: I think it's a meteorite. We were in the section that discussed how planets were formed. Forget the Hope Diamond and overly crowded precious gem section, I thought this would be cooler to pose with.

skigeek: I don't remember the pendulumn; that's too bad -I can imagine my son getting a kick out of the pins being knocked down. I do remember the hoopla when The Hope Diamond came back fr a cleaning in '96; and apparently it's been w/ the Smithsonian since 11/58. 6.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 6.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/6.gif width=15 border=0> I would have thought it would been rather long in the tooth by now, but it was easily one of the most busiest & crowded sections in the museum. And people often simply lingered for just that and the other gems & jewelry alone. The Annenberg Hall, however, has lots of other fascinating exhibits regarding minerals, mining, volanoes, and the planetary formation that kept the kiddoes's attention. And the further we got from the gems the less crowded and easier it was to spend more time. The National Museum of Natural History as a whole also has other cool kiddoe & yute oriented exhibits including one on mammals that came out earlier this year and one on bugs. Being a sociologist at heart I also appreciate the exhibit on emerging cultures.

Another cool link is Online Exhibits it shows some of the screens that visitors are able to look at in the museum.

Great pictures, Joe. The Natural History Museum is the best for little kids. If they don't like the rocks, they might like the dinosaur bone.

I do miss the pendulum, though. They had this little bowling pin type things arranged in a circle and they would slowly get knocked down during the day. But it's gone now. Never did hear why.

I remember the pendulum. I was there in 1997. I heard back then that they had problems with the thing so they might have taken it out because of that. Don't know for sure though. I like the pictures or you with the kids.

Damnit! Now I have that crappy Kelly Clarkson song stuck in my head!

'Here I am, once again

I'm falling to peices'

That song is called 'Behind These Hazel Eyes'

Here I am, once agan

I'm falling to pieces

can'd deny it, can't pretend

I thoguht you were the one

broken up, deep inside

but you won't need to see the tears I've cried

behind these hazel eyes....

(quoting the chorus in full is more proper, see...)

EDIT: ti presento pagina centundici!

Yeah, well that's what happens when you only know the first two lines. 30.gif

Since my grandma had car troubles and had to pay for that, my haircut is delayed for a few weeks, so you'll have to wait even longer to find out wether or not I post another photo, or not. Maybe. Perhaps..

Or not.1.gif
