A bit of a problem, maybe someone can shed some light on it.

I had a HSR line between two cities, with one station in each city, and about 70% usage in either. Great news. And then, I had to dismantle the stations. Since then, I've exactly reproduced the stations and rails--and there is zero usage in one city and about 12 people (not percent, people) usage in the other. If anything, the cities have grown. I've run the HSR rail through them on both sides.

What could I have done wrong? I don't have a street crossing under the rail next to the station, so that's not it. Basically, the rail used to work, and now it doesn't. Does anyone have any ideas?

Wait a few months for the simulator (whatever simulator you're using). Often it takes time to recalculate the roots as the fastest one. Recommend that you use Simulation Z for this reason.

simulation z?  I ask because I have the same problem.  My HSR gets no use whatsoever.  I read through and saw that curves supposedly dont work, so maybe thats it.  Is there an update I need to download?

Yes, Simulator Z will definitely give you the highest usage on your HSR.  To install it, simply rerun the NAM installer and make all the same selections you did the previous time, but on the page after the license, click the plus sign next to the "Traffic Controller Files" option and select one of the capacity levels of Simulator Z.  (Don't use the Park & Ride option.)  For information about these different levels, see the first post in the NAM Traffic Simulator Z and Data View Support Thread.  Or you can just pick "High" for now, which generally tends to be a good place to start for most people.

First, try the latest beta of Simulator Z v1.2 and see if that solves your problem.  This beta increases usage of monorail and HSR even more, and by a significant amount.  If that doesn't help, be sure that your HSR actually goes along the routes the Sims like to use, and that you have plenty of HSR stations and adequate access to them, either via mass transit, or via parking facilities that you build right next to them.  If you're still having problems, remember that though rail lines such as subways may be slower, if their route is more direct, taking them may mean an overall shorter trip for the Sims than using the HSR.  I think that if you actually calculate the time used by the Sims in commuting, you'll see that they actually are taking the shortest route.  Please let me know if you find otherwise.

I am not using the hubs, just the individual ones (I plan on putting a couple of hubs in though). I dont know the exact name/maker, and it looks like the search is down, so I will have to edit later.

I currently only having it connecting 2 big adjacent cities. I will start the surrounding cities and expand the network to see if it gets any users.

EDIT:

AceGunn, the tracks are draggable, you plop the starter piece and then drag monorail from it, read the readme!!

gozac: Well you making the turns to tight, it needs to at least another tile longer. I'm not sure why the supports are showing up though,I'd try reinstalling.

I've seen that. I'm thinking it had to do with either load order or not having the patch if using both HSR and BTM. Gozac, do you also have the BTM installed. If so did you install the patch? And you might make sure that the BTM loads after NAM. Just a thought... It's been a while, so I could be wrong.

I don't recall  the BTM mod installed, but reinstalled the GHSR/HSRP and it worked.

Thanks! 17.gif

This is a really cool track system. The only flaw I see is that most if not all HSTs are a quick form of transportation but with all the underground work and widespread is this a subway replacement? Other than that is there anything else i can help give me a message.

Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but: when I build a road under the HSR tracks, the intersection shows up as a monorail over road. On blank terrain there are HSR tracks displayed. Tried HSRP beta and full, NAM 2008 and 2009, neither doesn't work.

// Re-installing the game did the trick.

I've got the hsr-bridge pack, installed it and reinstalled the nam essentials but every time i try to drag a hsr bridge it only shows the monorail bridge in the bridge selection screen.

hsr starterpice is placed so it should work. anyone know how to solve this problem ?

there's only 2 things you need....the NAM essentials and the bridge files themselves. if you do indeed have these, then there is an old bridge that was obtained on the STEX that is causing the problem. if you have the Millau Viaduct, steel pylon rail bridge, or the steel arch rail bridge, then you must remove those bridges and get the versions on the LEX.

The versions of those 3 bridges on the STEX are not NAM-compatible, and prevent the use of any additional bridges.

I keep having troubles with my HSR, everythings connected, residential and commercial are on the line, there are no roads directly under the tracks near the stations, I have the proper dependencies, Simulator-Z High is used , yet still my sims are not willing to take those wonderfully modern pieces of human engineering. If someone knows a solution for my problem. P.S.: The network in itself looks awesome, but it would be nice if folk would actually start using them right?

Dellyking...

A few things to check:

*Stations are placed where Sims need to leave from and get to.

*Sims can actually get to and from the stations to wherever thay are going or coming from. You're not using the Park-and-Ride version of the simulator are you? You might try a parking lot next to the originating station and buses at the destination.

*There might be a more direct route than the HSR line. You could try 'breaking' other routes to see if the HSR is used.

*You might post an image of your setup to get more assistance.

Just a thought...

Hmm, I am having this glitch where whenever I place the ground high speed rail, the monorail pylons still show up (not the monorail rail, just the supports). any idea what I might be doing that may be causing this? The pylons appear everywhere, on turns, and on straightaways.

A couple things...

First, be sure you have the HSR/BTM patch

Second, be sure that the BTM is loading after NAM/HSR (Try putting the BTM in a folder starting with "Z"). And perhaps the BTM mod needs to load afer the patch. I'm not sure this last is required, but it is how mine is loaded and it seems to work.
