I discovered that the best way to get maximum usage out of your hsr is to have no connections on one side of your city and have only the hsr going over, then anyone who commutes to that city has to use the hsr

This works for every type of mass transit ... even for busses if you use the appropriate mod.

Ok, has anybody noticed that if you are in U-Drive It mode while riding the train, if you go under (tunnel) streets or roads or any other kind of roads that you crash into the cars??

Hey I was wondering if theres a way to remove the two icons. I read back a few pages ago and somebody said if your removed something it would go away but bring the price for it to 100$. Well I know my way around Ilive reader and DatGen. Could you give me the name of what part to delete to get ride of the second icon? I really don't care if it cost 100 to plop. Well if you could help me out that would be great. I'm going to fidel around with it right now to see if I can find the right file to delete.

That will happen with regular trains too, if the ground above the tunnel is low enough

I then draged a HSR down the center

Then deleted it and looked like this

3.jpg

put anthor elvated highway next to it

4.jpg

then I dragged anthor HSR down through it

And thats what it looks like and heres a close up

It looks cool, but is it really useful? How can the cars enter the highway? Really good looking.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

Just add a on ramp on the side and it will work. The only problume is you can't make bridges with it. Thats why I can't wait for the double decker bridge project to be finshed!

Another problem is the freeway/HSR combo can't do curves. Plus freeway interchanges won't work either, unless someone redesigns the half-cloverleaf in the NAM so the crossing freeway (the one that would remain full freeway) is a ground freeway instead of an elevated one.

Outside of the one-way road, I don't think there is any way to get the HSR ourside of the highway either...I've experimented with it a bit, but couldn't get anything out of the center...I think I was using monorail.

Look at Lakeboy's Multi-Highway guide, and you might get some ideas. I wonder if it works with EL rail too. In the Bay Area, lots of BART tracks run down the center of highway.

EDIT:It does work with EL rail, but it doesn't look as good, because the EL tracks aren't as wide as High Speed Rail's.

EDIT2: okay, this is HSR related. I was fooling around with HSR, and discovered that it looks really good with Marrasat's embankments. Even though they were designed for EL rail, the curve pieces fit well.

A Curve

The End Pieces

This may eliminate the need to create a ground based HSR. A lot of high speed rail networks build the lines on levees.

Ive got a few things to say, il start at a sugestion(yes i know there horrible).

The Bridges look really cool, but when crossing a larger river or bay that is supposed to have a lot of shipping traffic the pylons are a bit to close to eachother, i belive this could be fixed by adding a longer central span to the briges, so we have can have a central peice that is about 4-5 tiles wide(or long) clear of pylons for shipping to pass under.

Would it be possible to add a transit enabled tunnel lot, that converts the HSRP to Subway? much like how the Big Dig lots are done. a Hillside transition offcource, maby using the new tunnelmodel you guys modeled.

Also, if i was to model a station, how would i go about to do that, its not the station thats the problem, but rather the tracks, is it possible to extract the correct models/textures from the files or do i have to guess my way around it?

Im planning on making an EL/HSRP Terminus station for my airport you see, since we have no other terminuses for the HSRP.

Thanks in advance ^^

I am having this weird problem all the sudden with the HSR. All connecting tracks work except the HSR tracks. I don't have alot of HSR in my large city map, but the ones I do get no use. People rather convert to bus and drive the same distance. However and this is very wierd the people use the HSR at night only!?? I don't get it?

Yeah, we could use a terminus. As much as I like the current station, we need a few types of terminus (an historic looking one wouldn't go astray, as it's not uncommon for them to be retasked as high speed rail terminii). I know your one would be a modern terminal, but we need one anyway.

I'd also suggest tight fitting LODs to allow use of the elevated walkways found on the STEX (it makes a world of sense to connect a train station directly into the terminals).

Swamper77, Thanks for the quick help. Im guessing once i get to transit enabling it its just to simply use the instance ID's of the original Monorail?

Cammo2003, yeah i know, although we dont have a dedicated highspeed network in sweden, i have seen a lot of the tvg-network while on vacation in france, never been on one though. But i supose it would be better to have someone that has some experience batting historical buildings, and yes, you did guess correctly, my terminus will be more modern looking, with a lot of glass. Il make sure its connectable by walkways somehow aswell. most of my buildings are done that way because i dont have to lot as much that way ^^

Edit;

I thought of something else aswell. As im doing a El-HSRP combo, are the El-models also downloadable somewhere or do i have to find them in the huge sc4dat1 file?

would save time if they also were downloadable.
