Massive epidemic?

I guess this means i am lucky that when my city had a life expectancy of under ten, the population stayed about where it was(100,000), though this also had massive amounts of crime, and few hospitals.  BTW: this city is approaching the low life expectancy point again because of overcrowded hospitals and a high number of crimes.(now 190,000)

All this is weird... During my experiment on education, I had no hospital at all for over 130 years, but my life expectancy never went below 50! But I believe that with garbage and pollution in residential areas, it would have fallen... So life expectancy does not only depend on hospitals!!!

I had never heard of such epidemics...[:0][:0]42.gif42.gif34.gif34.gif

Maybe its one of those secret types of things that the Creator wanted us to try to find out or something. Who knows.

Look at the silver lining: You can demolish the whole sections

of the city and Start over !

Ala real life Boston and New York City etc when they demolished
entire sections of their cities.

Note when you redo a section of your city, place
Fire Stations, Police Stations, Hospitals , Schools , Libraries
in a Public Services Block with any empty space filled with
Parks.

Should help

This is a rather interesting part of the game, where you are, in a way, forced to help your sims. Never happened to me though.

I'd have thought death would strike more gradually, but that's astonishing indeed to have a pandemic like that in your city.

Hmm...this sounds interesting 19.gif. II don't doubt you, but are you sure it wasn't the same window that pops up whenever the mean life expectancy takes a freefall (like after a sudden massive influx in residents)?? Something like 'bad bugs riddle parts of city' or something similar. 42.gif

If such things can happen in SC4, my opinion of it suddenly rose a notch or to due to its realism 3.gif. Really weird though, never ever happened to me. 18.gif

I never knew you could get a epidemic in Sim City 4. Must be a hiden thing that Maxis wanted us to discover. Must test it and see if I can get it in one of my cities.

I have had epidemic a few times, despite having hospitals (but not enough funding), police, fire dept and good education, let alone a plenty of parks - and industry being only hi-tech. For some reason, I have always had this spot of low income habitat which just wouldn't get richer, healthier or better educated, no matter what I did. Mind you, the research facility was every time nearby.

Okay it happened again. I started a city and forgot to put in hosptials then everyone left. It is not a fluk or anything. They just leave because there is no medical care.

Wow... this topic can be funny and serious...

I beleive this epidemic is true... your MySims can die of disease too! Mr Redwood died after living in an area of no health coverage... toxic waste dump... coal power plant... and casino either across the street from him or close.  I made the city riot too! 11.gif My cj says it all lol.

This is AWESOME!  I have a city with 250K people and I am going to try this.  A whole city dropping like flys ought to be hilarious!

as always, I first want to see screenshots before I can believe things like this 1.gif
however, I understand that making screens will be difficult in this case.

I would have thought it would be from pollution! LOL!18.gif
But this happened to me once too. Not on a scale nearly as big, but after I had about 100 sims in a large city. It happened in about a month sim time too. one month its all good and nice, the next all my houses are abandoned!

I got an Epidemic popup message the other day in one of my cities. (pop ~300k on a big tile.) My medical coverage was excellent, so I didn't notice any real hit to the population, but I clicked my disease research center, and its usage doubled for a couple years.
