Date: 7/26/2005 3:01:55 PM Author: Buster Hi. Firstly, I just love the Euro mod. However, I think the zebra crossings are a bit too bright and stand out too much compared to the other textures. I've edited the textures and made a simpler version that I think blends in better with the other road textures:
...
I've posted this version on the STEX, here . I hope that's OK. If you guys object to that, just tell me, and I'll remove it. Thanks. 1.gif

No problem for me. The more we are to work on the project, the best it is !

Can I include the file in the ERTM zip ?

Well at the roundabout we also use the same sign in Denmark.

Well, it would be weird if they weren't... Or that is what I think, us scandinavians have tight bonds. Which is good!

i'd really love to have a british road texture set in the game, but i had always avoided this because the most notable thing to me was always the bloody zebra crossing before EVERY intersection. i think that may be common in europe, e.g. any type of crosswalk looks like a zebra maybe?! but zebra style markings before a intersection is nonexistant here!

however, from what i've read here - the zebra is optional anyway?! 43.gif

the reason it is quite absurd though is because if you have a traffic-light controlled intersection, the traffic will be stopping anyway so you might aswell have a pelican crossing like with the Maxis road texture set. not only that but if the lights are green, do the cars approaching have to stop and give way to any pedestrians like you're supposed to at zebra crossings ? lol crazy... it defeats the point of the traffic lights 3.gif

i'd prefer to be able to plop zebra crossings where i desire them, as you can with the pelican-crossing/crosswalk mod

anyway for some additions to this mod i would like to see:

- a pelican crossing for pedestrians at traffic-light controlled intersections - but if all i need to do is leave off some zebra mod file for this - then this is already available 43.gif

- a give-way/yield triangle before a non-traffic light controlled intersections's solid stop-line would be nice 2.gif

- possibly give-way markings at non-traffic controlled intersections (these are the double broken horizontal lines at the end of the road before the intersection) instead of the solid stop-line

anyways - i would still love to see the full british/euro textures progress a bit further (with more road markings and arrows etc. too pleasssse - e.g. the keep-in arrow when approaching two lanes merging into one - but there is probably loads of other examples)....

i may decide to use this if those zebras are an optional add-in 1.gif as said i would rather plop them. a zebra before traffic lights makes no sense with british road rules 2.gif

Yes, but you will have yellow lines without it.

i'd prefer to be able to 'plop' zebra crossings where i desire them, as you can with the pelican-crossing/crosswalk mod

Why not, but it's not my priority...

It's impossible, beacause of the mirror effect. Have a look here :
Mirroir.JPG
It's the same texture, so if i draw arrows for the left texture, the arrows will be on the wrong way for the right one...

But it have sense with french rules 3.gif

if it's you who's doing the Euro modd, Thorvin, the Z_AutoroutGen.dat file for the Asphalt Highways is missing the tunnel texture for the closest zoom. if you've already fixed it, please let me know where i can download the newer file

thanks!

i know, i know.. what i meant was i have always avoided using it because of the zebra crosswalks at intersections. its just too off-putting to look at and would be terribly un-british to use the mod in my cities, for me personally.. in UK a zebra means stop if there are pedestrians waiting to cross - imagine when people are flooring it to get through the lights before red but a pedestrian starts crossing.... not a pretty sight 3.gif maybe i should move to mainland europe 3.gif anyway despite that all of the textures are great and i must commend you on all the hard work you have put into this as it is very popular 2.gif

ah yes, i never thought of that. i remember it being a problem with another mod... o well it was only a small thought 9.gif

is there a way to have just asphalt ground highways and keep the concrete elevated highways?

if so it would seem more realistic to have black ground highways but have concrete bridges and overpasses where one ground highway crosses another and have the ramps on the stacks concrete and to have an elevated concrete highway.

no there's not. elevated and ground highways use the same textures. sorry.

possibly. since traffic lights are after all just props. but someone with more experience with this kind of thing will have to confirm it. i know Swamper77's done some work with network props.

Do we really need those zebra intersections? They look rather ugly, and I avoid them by creating unusual intersections, but what if I need to create an ordinary one?

the zebra are in an additional file, so you have the choice to use them or not.

That red bus lane is taken from the UK-road mod thread. (hint:
it's left hand driving in the picture)

Check this post for picture of what Route-Inter-Addon140805.zip includes. The other fil is a better textures for tunnel intrace.

...and btw: Please read: 49.gif The All-in-One Simtropolis Guide to Posting.

Nice picture (grin). I hope this is not a new intersection, because the textures
are a bit difficult 2.gif
