Date: 6/15/2005 10:19:28 AM Author: Buster Guys - how about cleaning up your road systems a bit? 3.gif That 'roundabout' is really no such thing - just a big jumble. In all the pictures the road layout can be changed to get fewer intersections - and thus fewer zebras. This will improve traffic flow as well. Intersections slow cars down - the fewer, the faster the commute. If you want to use roudabouts, real ones are actually being developed now by Teirusu and others - one is already included in the NAM, I believe. That said, I completely agree that the zebras should be a darker grey, the same as the stripes in the middle of the road, and they should be simpler, without those extra stripes at the sides. They stand out too much as it is. Just my 2 cents. 3.gif

Yes I know the roads in the picture are a bit of a jumble, the reason for this is I try to do a lot of things diagonally, and what is even more, this city was modelled after a real life one and it is scaled down way too much, so you get a lot of streets near each other.

Nevertheless, the zebras on roundabouts will remain a problem whatever I do. And also on intersections that are not simple and straight 4-road crossings.

About the new roundabouts: yes, I've discovered that thread lately (but only after I first posted here). But my impression was that they're not finished yet, should check that out soon though...

Alkaola - what you have to do is extract the asphlt textures to your NAM folder and put it togheter with the main NAM dat. I had that problem and that worked for me.

The file have to be loaded after the NAM, to cover textures wich are in the NAM. So create a folder with a Z in first and it should work 2.gif

is there a way to have just asphalt ground highways and keep the concrete elevated highways?

if so it would seem more realistic to have black ground highways but have concrete bridges and overpasses  where one ground highway crosses another and have the ramps on the stacks concrete and to have an elevated concrete highway.

    Hi.

Firstly, I just love the Euro mod. However, I think the zebra crossings are a bit too bright and stand out too much compared to the other textures. I've edited the textures and made a simpler version that I think blends in better with the other road textures:

I've posted this version on the STEX, here . I hope that's OK. If you guys object to that, just tell me, and I'll remove it. Thanks.

How about removing the zebra crossing altogether and just having a plain tile with an intersection and now pedestrian crosings atall.

Also Im having major probs I have no euro texture on anything but straight peices. Not on diagonals, corners, intersections or anything elese.garston3jul3911120578765jjjjjj.jpg

GingerBlokey - now that's weird. Are you sure you have the latest version? Get it via the link on the first page of this thread. That link has been updated several times with more recent versions.

also, remember that Euro-mod has to load AFTER NAM, so place it in a folder which starts with ZZZ, it loads after NAM then. I had the same problem, and for me, that was the solution.

How do the europeans tell the difference between normal roads and one way roads.. or what about two-way roads that have different number of lanes on each side? 42.gif

There are special signs that are notifying you when you enter a one-way road. In Germany, you have these two:

Well in Denmark we use this sign to indicating a roundabout:

We use the sign with oneway arrow too.

There is a road between Roskilde and Ringsted (in Denmark) where part of the road have three lanes. Well between the two lanes going in opposit direction there is a full line where as between the two lanes going in same direction there is a dashed line. When the extra lane goes from one site the road there are big arrows telling you to swich lane.

In old time the middle lanes was used for overtaking in both direction, witch resulted in a large number of accidents.

I hope that aswered your question.

Yeah, I believe those are known as suicide lanes. 9.gif

EDIT: Come to think of it, they may as well be called homicide lanes, as there's also the other person coming in the opposite direction. Which is not all that funny, I guess.
