I find no point in this game if there isn't a challenge. Cheating is dumb. MayorTim I'm not trying to cut you up but I could do this with one hand tied behind my back... you know if I had the time and all but seriously what do you guys find so impressive about a city which builds instantly. Its like buying beautiful cake at the bakery and then showing it off to other people and getting the acclaim of your culinary skills. ( Wierd metaphor I know. ) No offence, I'm just stating my opinion.

To me, all these lines running acroos the water and the highway brdge look messy. I ( according to my personnal tasts ) try to keep it as clean as possible. eg there are power underwater power lines you could use.
Also concerning the natural electric plan , sure is a good idea for the environement but to me still looks messy. It really is up to you.
Keep up the good work however... love the overall feel of your city.

cheers

Hmm. I totally disagree. I think cheating is not bad at all. To me, it depends on the overall look of the city. If you can get a city that good with no cheats, I would say you have a strong hold of the game and that you can accept challenges. But you have to remember, Sc4 without the cheats can get boring and unrealistic. And also people have different ways of building their cities. There really isn't a wrong way to play Sc4. The only thing I think that matters in Sc4 is if the city or region appeals to the creator, no matter how it is built. So I'm going to have to take MayorTim's side over yours, even though you have a respected opinion.

    Thanks for all the comments (again) guys!

    Let me answer a few things.

    Kingofsimcity: 1. My population is now at 496,873. 2. No, Origionally, I was going to start this region off there, but I decided to start in Gavendale. That is all just old roads waiting to be demolished. 3. I think my region is comming along pretty well, there are still things I need to change in every city, but I have made good progress for a 1.5 month old city.

    BobbyT: Do you think I just punched a button on my keyboard and all this stuff sprang up overnight? I made the road layout. I made the parks. I did everything anyone else would have to do. The super demand modd is not some all powerful modd that does everything for you. To use your own metaphor, I am not buying a cake and calling it my own, I am making my very own cake with the best and most flavorful ingredients. If you don't like me using modds, then just don't visit this city journal. Modds and Cheats aren't for everyone, but they are for me.

    I agree with MayorTim as well. Also, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. People make CJs in the hopes that they will get positive comments from people that enjoy the story, not derogatory comments from others. Just let it be.

    Ok, first of all I am only voicing my opinion, this isn't meant to cut anyone up as I had said in my earlier post. And sure Mod's are great to a point, but when you get to the point when the city grows almost instantly I find it pointless. Sure it's fun and all but there is no challenge but that's just me.
    And to MayorTim, Do you think I just punched a button on my keyboard and all this stuff sprang up overnight? I made the road layout. I made the parks. I did everything anyone else would have to do. The super demand modd is not some all powerful modd that does everything for you. My answer is no. I understand what the superdemand Mod is and I understand that you laid out all the roads and parks and stuff because I read your first couple of posts. And I don't oppose Mods just don't care for this one. The real part of the game I think is acutally building up the city. It is almost like a work of art. You work and work at it until you achieve perfection.
    And finally to RadioheadFan, what I said was not not nice, it was neutral. Once again comments are opinions on cities, I'm just giving mine.

    Sorry for the earlier outburst, I suppose you're right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But the fact of the matter is, differences of opinions and the following debates is what livens up Simtropolis when things get boring. I look forward to future banters lol.

    LOL! I didn't even know his middle name was Gilligan lol. Leave it up to Peter to name his son after a marooned TV buffoon.

    OMFG... I just spent the last 3 hours making the most beautiful cliff side area ever. It had look out points, Jeronjie's seawalls, Peg's rec style seawalls, and a lot, a LOT of careful terraforming. Then my game crashed.

    Needless to say, there won't be an update tonight.

    OUCH! I hate when that happens. I had gotten my first high-risers when my game crashed and it had taken me forever because it was my first city, just bought the game, etc. Sympathy from me.

    Well I love your region. I Think the Down town area looks awsome. I also like also how you put like the 2 houses and 1 year later you made like a apartment. Awsome way of doing this.

    My Computer only freezes up on the large maps, and I hate small towns so i just use meduim city

    Hmm... I am not sure I am going to keep the new water textures.... what do you guys think?

    p14ve.jpg

    Here is a zoomed out view (sort of reminds me of static from this height 21.gif)

    <ahttp://img218.exs.cx/img218/4314/p21nd.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is a picture from a lot closer (still looks like static but atleast you can see waves if you look hard enough)

    <ahttp://img218.exs.cx/img218/4016/p33to.jpg align=baseline>

    Finally, here it is at the closest zoom possible. It looks good in this picture, problem is I almost never zoom in this far.

    I will probably experiment with diffrent textures over the weekend (I DO like the idea of waves) and will post more pictures when I get them.

    Comments welcome!

    I agree. Crystal Lagoon would look better. I found that it looked less staticky from far away though.

    I am not going to use crystal lagoon, because this city is supposed to have a very cold climate. I want my water texture to reflect this, and having a tropical texture would look out of place.

    I tried the clipper water style as well, but it didn't turn out much better.

    <ahttp://img46.exs.cx/img46/4489/p11ie.jpg align=baseline>

    The waves are much more pronounced, but it still looks more like static from a higher view (sorry no pic for that.)

    <ahttp://img46.exs.cx/img46/518/p28fl.jpg align=baseline>

    The waves look awesome from here, but again, I almost never zoom in this close.

    Comments and suggestions welcome and appreciated!

    I tried another water texture, and I absolutely hate it (looks like the default water with lines running across), but I am going to show these pictures anyway because there are some things I want to show.

    <ahttp://img238.exs.cx/img238/9033/p10ti.jpg align=baseline>

    First of all, here is the powerplant that replaced the solar farm 2 pages back.

    <ahttp://img238.exs.cx/img238/5199/p20rx.jpg align=baseline>

    Also, I want to show you guys what the new mayor mode tree modd can really do. I can finally create awesome woods and garden areas!

    <ahttp://img238.exs.cx/img238/7043/p35nc.jpg align=baseline>

    Another area...

    <ahttp://img238.exs.cx/img238/4495/p45ew.jpg align=baseline>

    And one more.

    Comments welcome and appreciated!
