I apologize if this has been discovered before, but I got such a kick out of seeing that it actually worked.

Since it's all right-turn only, it's not particularly useful in most situations, but it does have highway capacity. This can be made with vanilla SC4 with no mods. It is somewhat complicated to make, but here goes:

abcd
efgh
ijkl
mnop

Lay two pieces of ground highway on efij and ghkl, both running N/S. Lay one piece of elevated highway on fgjk, also running N/S, and then bulldoze it. Repeat this whole process again with E/W highways, using squares bcfgjkno. Now lay four pieces of ground highway at abef, cdgh, ijmn, and klop, all running diagonally. Your interchange is complete. You can extend the highways outwards or convert to avenues immediately.

Too bad a diagonal park can't be placed in the open center of the interchange. Maybe that would make it less ugly.

Looks like something you would make with the Network Addon Mod.

Non the less its quite intriging.

Keep up the findings of such crazy bugs.

That just gets added onto the list of all the other bizarre things you can do with the highways

Actually that is possible to do using BAT, an offset rendered diangonal grass patch with a tree could be made, and anchored in a lot in the outskirts of the interchange...

    An update:

Using this bug to branch a ground highway into two separated highway lanes is no longer possible with the 11-15-04 version of NAM installed. However, if you remove the NAM or replace it with an older version, you can build the split, save, quit, replace the NAM, reload, and it will work.

Yes, this seems like a fair bit of work, but I have found some more useful and less ugly uses for branching a highway into two separate lanes, especially since the 11-15-04 introduces a slightly different bug allowing a single lane highway to merge into a regular one.

Actually, since it involves both avenues and ground highways, It can't be done with vanilla. You need Rush Hour. Also, vanilla didn't have the trip query feature.

Just correcting an error in your statement.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

It'd be cool to have a more comprehensive tutorial on how to do this.... something easier to read than a text pattern like this

    abcd
    efgh
    ijkl
    mnop

If anyone could make a tutorial on this that would be great, I'm a visual learner 2.gif
