Hey all, I’ve hit a strange one. I spent ~4–5 hours laying out a brand-new city entirely on pause. As soon as I unpaused and fast-forwarded for about 10–20 seconds, the city was slammed with severe air pollution.

What I’ve tried

  • Planted loads of trees, made virtually no difference.

  • Dropped a bunch of air purifiers, slight improvement, but only after placing a lot.689fcd5338d69_Screenshot2025-08-16010408.png.6d9f7c4bb6ab9809424aa6e0fb88271f.png

  • Suspected a bugged building, so I bulldozed every building, no change.

I’m stumped and don’t have a clue what’s driving it. Am I missing something obvious, or is this a known bug? Any ideas or troubleshooting steps would be hugely appreciated.

I seem to recall @Null 45 or @memo did discover a nasty bug where thru no fault of your own, the pollution can get widely out of control. After I finish eating I could search thru the DLLs since I'm almost certain they made a fix for it.

Or let me know if you find it and fix it before then.

    Hi, thanks Corina.

I've asked around on discord and Null got back to me with their ClearPollution cheat, unfortunately I've had no success with this. A couple more notes I should add are, since posting I tried removing absolutely everything from the tile not just the buildings and this fixes the pollution issue at least on the statistics... yet the smog still remains.  so maybe not a building thats bugged but a park or one of my peg tree plots... I am also experiencing issues with water not being received by my citizens despite there being plenty.

    Massive oof. :(

Grrr. I'm all out of ideas then other than to save a separate copy of your city tile now then bisect and bulldoze. If it's in the half you destroyed then restore and bulldoze a quarter of that, if not keep going the other way. Some how you can narrow it down to the cause and once you know it's a specific lot then restore and bulldoze only those.

Maybe. Or even that might not help, but it's worth a shot.
