Hi All, I wanted to first off thank everyone here for their help in the forums for this game we love so much.

My Question is if anyone else has experienced or noticed this and if there is a fix?

While playing I have noticed that the Fireworks (from the Mayor's House New Years) are no longer displayed even with the building plopped(placed in the city). I don’t know if the July Fireworks from the Resort Hotel are working as of yet, I will update once I know for sure. As I am sure many of you know, this effect does work and appear on the vanilla non-patched CD installation.

However, the fireworks do not appear when I play now on the Steam version of SimCity4 - File Version 1.1.641.0 with both the 4GB Patch and SC4Fix.dll applied. I am not sure if this worked before the patch and fix were applied on the steam version, especially as I had to tweak the steam launcher options a few times in order to get the game to startup. On that note, I doubt that the steam launch options matter in this case, but I have included them anyway... you never know:). Custom Launch options:  -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -CPUCount:1 -CPUPriority:high -Cursors:fullcolor -d:OpenGL

Is there a fix for this, or is it possible to enable the fireworks again? I read somewhere online that it is possible to disable the fireworks using a dll file, but I can 100% assure you that I did not disable them as I am not using this no fireworks dll nor have I ever downloaded it for that matter since I love the fireworks hehe. I understand its more of a cosmetic thing and doesn't impact my gameplay, however it is still awesome to see these effects. And my apologies in advance if I have placed this topic in the wrong area. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any response/help is greatly Appreciated. Thank you

-Corint

First, the launch parameters are now considered outdated with the new Mod DLLs and then you can remove them and install the new mod DLLs that unlock new features.

I recommend that you follow this guide

Of course some launch paramtrs you can leave them as in the case of -intro:off

Another technical problem is the use of OpenGL as you are using a broken rendering and it is recommended to use DirectX Rendering which is the funzioannte one and to increase stability also install DgVoodoo.

After you have followed the guide by installing the basic mods you need to go into the game settings to put the graphics settings to the maximum

Hi @corint

I believe I might have a possible solution for you... *;)

My first thought is it could be due to the Graphics Options not set on Low, and specifically the Visual Effects setting. I recall while developing my fireworks mod how this is required, or otherwise the fireworks (along with other effects) don't appear visible in game to conserve graphical resources.

Try checking on this panel and make sure it's set to either Medium or High:

SC4_Graphics Options - Visual Effects Med High.png

Then click the Accept button and hopefully it does the trick. *:)

(I'm quite sporadic here nowadays on the forums, but I just noticed your topic during my routine house-keeping check of ST as a guest.)
