Diggis Multiple Canal Mod Rail Problem

This is a bit of a niche problem, given that the Diggis canal mod isn't heavily used, but I've been trying to breath some new life into it. Unfortunately, I've found a display bug that I cannot seem to find the cause of.

The problem is that the medium wealth (SimGoober canals by default, Moonlights in my modified version) display for Rail-over-canals is not displaying the water tile. All other T21 wealth stages display correctly for it, and this problem doesn't occur with any other network over canal. I had initially thought that the problem might have occurred during my modding, but I performed a fresh install of the Diggis mod and am getting the same results (shown in the spoilers below). This has me suspecting the problem is with the Network T21 modding in the original file, but this leads me to a wall as while I can modify GUID's and exemplars just fine, the T21 modding is unfortunately over my head. I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction for what in the T21 I would need to change in order to correct the bug.

At a glance I suspect the problem is that a crossing over the canal involves using network pieces and not lots. In order to confer wealth on a object there must be zoning touching it, it’s how the T21s work. So if you make the canal pieces a certain wealth, whatever they are touching (network pieces), become that wealth. But for this central water tile, no such wealth pieces can reach it, so it remains 0 Wealth. The four pieces touching it are all network tiles that don’t infer wealth to objects.

The same thing can be observed with regular networks and zoning. For example if you have the default dirt appearing under rails, when next to zoning. If you were to draw three sets of tracks parallel to each other, no matter what you do you can not invoke zoning on the middle rails (get the dirt to appear). So if the outer tracks are zoned, it won’t ever look right.

In this sense the only work-around would be to restrict functional network crossings to the mod using no wealth, where they display correctly by default.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

Unfortunately, its not the wealth level not hitting the piece (which is getting its wealth from the diagonal in the original post), but that specific piece isn't getting a water assigned to it. All other network-over-canal pieces function properly for every wealth level except medium, and even on medium everything but rail works correctly.

The Diggis Multiple Canal mod sets the wealth levels of the different banks used to No, Low, Medium, and High (For Citynut's ASK, Diggis' RPK, Simgoober, and CAL-Goober, respectively) in order to enable the T21 wealth changing for the functional canal pieces. The highlighted pieces are ordinary, non functional canal pieces that I've changed out over the the next few pictures to illustrate the problem more closely. For this test the only plugins installed are the NAM, Diggis's Multiple Canal mod, the 4 canal sets supported by the mod, and their respective dependencies.

The highlighted bank pieces in the above image are the only things changing, the remaining pieces are canal pieces from the NAM (which change appearance from the T21 modding.)

Here's the same image with the banks replaced with CAL-Goober pieces. Everything is working fine, the CAN-AM pieces have all changed to match the CAL-Goober set that is around them.

Here is the problem again. Once again, the only pieces that have been changed are the bank pieces highlighted in the first image. All other network-over-canal overlays work fine for every wealth level, with the exception of rail-over-canal for medium wealth (Low wealth not shown in images, but is functioning correctly as well).

I'm fairly confident the issue lies with the T21 modding itself as a result, but that's where knowledge comes to an end, as I really don't know my way around T21's. The problem isn't exactly critical, since 3 of the 4 wealth levels work for all networks, and Medium works for all but rail, but I'd still like to find the root of the problem so I can fully utilize the 4 canal options, especially as I start working to incorporate other canals that were previously non-functional.

It certainly appears that the T21 for this piece forgot to reference the Canal Piece. I'm hoping this patch will fix that up, although due to the nature of T21s, you would be advised to DATPack this fix into the original file rather than rely on it as an override.
