Diagonal suspension bridges?

Are there diagonal suspension bridges?   I know of the Diagonal Bridge Enabler mod, but I do not remember if suspension bridges were included in the bridge types, and images I see online do not show any.  At the moment I am away from my computer, so I cannot do a quick bridge building test in game.

Obviously, bridges in general are complicated to mod, let alone suspension types and then again diagonals, so I am not really expecting any.  I have a map I that has several potential orientations, one of which is the most picturesque, but it would require diagonal suspension bridges if a player were to attempt to semi-recreate its real world condition.  If there are no diagonal suspension bridges available, then I can rule out that orientation.

The current DBE doesn't contain any suspension bridges, they'd be tricky to apply with T21s, which is what the DBE relies upon, where pretty much every piece of the bridge is the same pattern repeated. It is possible to do in theory, although I've never heard anyone with intentions of creating such bridges.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I have several eye candy suspension  bridges, Ulveskarbrua Bridge and Kawarau Bridge. I don't know if they can be re-oriented from ortho to diagonal. Maybe there's a way to do it?

SC4 BAT Models are not 3D, rather 2D planes with pre-rendered 'wallpaper' applied to them, as such by themselves they do not contain the necessary data to display them rotated by increments other than 90°, without creating a visual mess. You can freely rotate a model in SC4BAT, 3DS Max etc and then render a special diagonal version, but of course that requires having such files and the ability to make it happen. But once a model has been rendered, it's very much fixed in terms of the (isometric) views from which it can be viewed.

This is a catch 22 situation, on one hand pre-rendered assets based on zooms/rotations are super efficient, so we can have hugely detailed models 3D games can't dream of, but we can only ever see them from fixed viewpoints.

True3D models are a different story, but those aren't used a whole lot outside of Automata or some Transit models. Certainly within the NAM you may find a True3D bridge you could rotate, but that wouldn't be functional without a lot of additional modding. Not to mention, most bridges are made using a combination of a regular BAT and a True3D (S3D) plane, so there is no guarantee a suitable bridge would exist. Not to mention typically the suspension cables work better as a separate 'attached' model, which almost certainly won't be True3D. You'd have to dig into it deeper to find out for certain, I've only poked around a little with El-Rail, Monorail and Highway bridges for the most part.

On the front of bridges, the Network Addon Mod has seen a very productive change thanks to @IDS2, who has effectively become our lead bridge developer. As such, during the NAM 40s we've seen a rapid expansion of bridge options. He's creating new models for networks lacking bridge support, and also adapting them to similar networks with similar dimensions.

Thank you for the quick answers.

For those curious, I had been debating on the orientation of a map of Wuhan, a city now infamously know through current events but historically known for its Yangtze riverfront and scores of lakes:

    VOsSfTO.jpg

The left option aligns to the ancient grid layout of the older core city of Wuchang, which, like many of the surrounding a satellite cities and following with traditional practice, generally aligns north-south.  While not deviating too much from a common north-south alignment, the map also reaches features on its periphery I thought were interesting and is overall more natural looking.  However, the stretch of the Yangtze River through Wuhan itself would require diagonal suspension bridges if someone were to recreate the real city, and I didn't think functional diagonal suspension bridges existed in game.

The right option aligns to the landmark Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, the first in what has become a series of 8 major bridges, of which 7 are suspension bridges, along the straightest stretch of the river.  This also loosely aligns to the historic Wuhan Bund in old Hankou and accomodates much of the wider modern infrastructure that flanks the river.  Being so straight and parallel to the edge of the map makes this stretch of river look somewhat unnatural, and much of the rest of the region where lesser city developments should be aligned north-south becomes complicated.

However, with a straight river aligned to the SimCity grid, we can easily make this:

I will go with the right option.  Thanks again for the help!
