Any chance of a new SimCity in 2023?

With it being the 20 year anniversary of SC4 and 10 year anniversary of SC2013, is there even a possible chance we could get a new game in 2023 for PC?

If they are releasing one every 10 years this could be possible. With the success of CS it may have shown EA that these games can sell if done right.

I know I’m probably delusional to think it will ever happen but every time I play SC2013 I remember how good it is and the potential for this series so what does everyone else think?

Short answer: I'd rather stay with SC4.

Long answer: Today's gaming and marketing culture would probably make the new SimCity an unbearable lightshow rather than a game you could enjoy. With the overall tendency, microtransactions and insanely competitive gameplay would probably overtake, which just isn't my way. I play this game to relax. Not to stress myself out because "Sleeping does not make your level grow".

From the more practical point of view, let me say this - I spent hours downloading and modding custom content for SC4. Collecting and adjusting various items I found valuable. It would be super hard, nearly impossible, for me to just say goodbye to all of this hard work that I did for enjoyment and artistic value. Sheesh! What a waste of time.

Another practical point is the price of any such new game. To be perfectly honest with you, I simply don't have the money to spend on new games. * Especially given the implications of my previous point.

This is why, even if a new SimCity is released, I'd just stay where I am, SC:O being probably the only option I'd be willing to hold my breath for.

The "SimCity 4" vanilla Opera House is the most evil thing in existence. Avoid.

My city journals! *:read:

Saving Magnasanti... - the most depressing city in history being revitalized

Also worth checking...
- "TMC's Drawing Board" - my city designs and plans.

I don't think so, nor should there be one. Cities Skylines has filled the modern take on city building, but I think SimCity 4 is the best one and should be kept that way.

It would be amazing to have the gameplay of SC4, but with updated graphics and online multiplayer (similar to SC2000 Network Edition, but where each player controls a tile and must work cooperatively to succeed), but I don't have much hope for such a thing given EA's current development philosophy.

Cities Skylines and SC2013 both look great with 3D graphics and more detail, but they both have a pretty small limit on the size of your cities.
