Problem loading Seattle region I downloaded from Simtropolis

Hello, I am new to this forum and I need assistance with loading a region into SimCity 4 Deluxe that I had bought on Steam. I am getting an error when I try to load the Seattle region that I downloaded from Simtropolis. The error is as follows:

"Region generation error
Region bitmap size is incorrect...
1281x1281, should be 1025x1025"

After searching Google on how to load regions downloaded from Simtropolis, I found this topic and followed the instructions:

Thinking that perhaps this was a compatibility issue (using the Steam  version than the retail one) I tried downloading another region on Simtropolis named Eaton, but I loaded that one with no problem so I doubt that my thinking is correct. I tried changing the resolution of the jpg from 1281x1281 to 1025x1025 and making sure not to preserve the aspect ratio (otherwise the program I used would have automatically changed the width resolution to a different number than 1025 and I'd probably get the same error), but when I tried loading the jpg file after I changed the resolution nothing happened. The game didn't attempt to load the Seattle map nor did I get an error.  The config.bmp file for Seattle is 822 bytes and the jpg file is 78,017 bytes if that matters.

Obviously changing the resolution doesn't fix the problem, so is there anyone who can help me solve this error? I have included both files if that helps. Thanks in advance!

If you are using SC4 on a windows you can directly use SC4MAPPER without using the game's native import system

Hi @Jay W.

Did you by chance try more than one map of Seattle? The grayscale image you posted above (Seattle3) seems to be from this download (Link). However, the config file you attached is not the same as the one in that download. Maybe you've mixed up the files...? If not, then you might post a link to the map you are trying.

Note that the process for importing heightmaps from images into SimCity 4 is quite clunky and very particular, frankly as per Ulisse's comment, you are far better off doing it with a 3rd Party tool such as SC4 Mapper. Most SC4 Maps come in SC4M format, which requires said tool to generate the terrain and files needed to use with the game.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
