Where can I get Gmax after turbosquid dropped support?

Note: I just need the setup program not any code.

I just found a link that worked:

It does appear that the official link to download gMax no longer exists, but slightly worse is that TurboSquid are no longer handling registration codes.

Of course, back then such things were not particularly complex, often a simple registry hack would be enough to work-around the issue ;) I'm certain that googling something like that couldn't possibly help anyone with a problem.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Yes there is a copy on archive.org that is preinstalled and has some .reg files but that was pointing to the D:\ directory (which was my DVD drive) I'm not going to link it because I'm not sure it counts as piracy

The way the registry works, you can edit the path so it reflects wherever you've installed gMax, but the path must be correct and if using spaces enclosed in quotation marks. Honestly, there is simply no legitimate way to get this now, so the specifics of where are kinda elementary. But of course it won't work without the registration code either (I had one, but can't find the e-mail in my archives), so I have to do some tinkering if I need to install gMax these days. There is no way that manually adding some lines to the registry is software piracy, especially in consideration of what was free software. That said, I'm not sure if we could go as far as posting a script or instructions for one?

The registration workaround files were hosted at a sticky at turbosquid's gmax forums for many years, so I think that could be taken as the official way of dealing with the registration issue.

I still receive this error... do we have no updated tutorial hop to install gmax and BAT?

since this does not seem to be an option anymore and we need to modify the reg entries:

Did you install the .reg files and restarted your PC?

Actually there is no particular need to reboot the pc, the registry is updated on the fly as it were. But you do need to have installed gMax in addition to adding the registry entries for it to work. Once that’s in place SC4BAT should have no trouble installing.

I know but the first rule of fixing a PC issue is trying to reboot.

The workaround reg files point to the D: drive.  Are there any that point to C: drive?  I'm installing SC4 on another laptop and can't get gmax installed so I can install the BAT.  Any help on this will be very appreciated.

The only things that require valid paths as setting the temp dir and the location of the help files. Most of the needed info is stored in specific place in the registry, where the application knows to look for it, so you shouldn't need a specific version of these files for it to work.

I'm using the files from this link myself and I can't see any need to specify a specific path there.
