I will be starting a series of resort hotels (or at least attempting).  The purpose of this thread is to share ideas about not only different resorts but the types of amenities or styles within and anything in between.  And of course gamers are welcome to share their scenes!

Modular maybe? Not too big. Organic as your two last pictures in the other thread?

So far I’ve got two ideas … both beach resorts.

The Nanyo (Japanese Micronesian style generally)

    Shark’s Bight Hotel (Caribbean generally)

the Native casinos are a great idea, @SIM-ple Jack.  I don’t know if anyone has done one on SC4 yet?

Dadancheta of Twitter/Instagram is doing a project called "Small Worlds 2021" where she makes a building or complex for each month of the year. Even though they're all pretty cool, the City of July is my favorite so far and I thought it would make for a really neat BAT in the game if anyone wants to take a shot at it.

In general, resort can be based on:

    • Artificial based on amenities, such as water park, golf course, casino, theme park, amusement park, zoo etc.,
    • Nature based on stunning geography, such as beach, waterfall, mountain, etc.,
    • Mix of both.

Accommodation in a resort can be creative, from hotel to chalets to villa.

Amenities not necessary based on fun rides, you can have a agro-farm as an urban retreat.

Here are some example from my place you could look up:

Genting Highland is an integrated resort build on top of a mountain, take advantage of colder and foggy high elevation, it is an urban retreat with amenities such as country only casino, theme park and concert hall, travel up via cable cars.

Sunway Lagoon consist of water park and wildlife park. It located in a planned township with the namesake Bandar Sunway near Kuala Lumpur, consist of mall, hotel, hospital and university.

A' Famosa is a golf resort that featured a water park, zoo. Other than normal hotel that feature bed and bath, it offers bigger accommodations that is similar to some R$$$ in SC4, such as villa and condominium fit for a whole family.

Terrapuri Heritage Village is a beach resort that feature special architecture: The founder collects old Malay timber houses, then rebuild and transform them into a chalet as a conservation effort. It provide traveler an unique experience to live in timber building from the past time. (read up: https://www.edgeprop.my/content/1643259/terrapuri-heritage-village-land-palaces)

UK Farm is an agrotourism park with accommodation. Family come here for fun activities inspires from farm work and looking at cute goats and other farm animals.

I've always wanted to do a Sim Renaissance Festival.  It would require a degree of planning and creating lots of props, but I am guessing it would be doable.

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

Better than that, MadHatter! I myself also happen to be a longtime faire-goer (my "home faires" are Maryland and Virginia), I think all the props we need have already been made to recreate the platonic ideal of a Ren Faire (at least as found in the USA). All that is needed is to creatively reuse and lot them.

Namely, off the top of my head we already have:

    • Various tents, booths, vendors etc. from the various modular public market, bazaar, and street vendor sets
    • Small building props for half-timbered "old town" Europe cities
    • "Old-timey" props for secondary things like wooden barrels, crates, carts, wagons, etc.
    • Small novelty antique fountains, marble statues, and topiary
    • Gazebos and pavilions from the various park and garden sets
    • The Maxis Mayflower ship prop or something similar for a pirate/privateer ship
    • Lots of colorful banners and signs
    • Lots of big shade trees
    • Portable toilets, all in a row
    • Modular palisade fences (as designed for Old West or old Canadian usage) to go around the outside + some of the modular castle bits for the focal points and front gate
    • Cars parked on half-dirt-half-grass
    • Modern camping tents/RVs parked behind

And no need to worry about night-lighting!

The trickiest part may be finding good outdoor stages and bench-seating that doesn't look too modernist/concrete based.

...I would discuss more here, though I don't want to derail the original thread too much. Any interest in starting a new thread to discuss ideas?
