I have the SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition for Mac, I am trying to get the Extra Cheats dll to work for it, as I have put it in Documents Plugins then i put them there, but nothing seems to work at all. Is there a place that I need to put it in for the Mac specifically? As I am a little confused, just changed from a PC to a Mac as tired of Windows and updates. Go Figure, so I now have a Mac and am happy with it, just trying to fix this annoying dll thing. How do I precisely get it to work? Does anyone have a good guide on how to get it working for Mac, as I have read the SC4 Injector or Mac Mod Loader project is dead.

Which is precisely why you can not get the game to load the .dll, .dll files or dynamic linked libraries are a Windows file type, not native to Macs. The SC4 Injector was the key to allowing .dll code additions to be loaded with the base game.

When Apple released Catalina, they not only removed 32-bit support from the OS, but they also added a number of new security restrictions to the OS. This is something that OSX (and now OSXI), has been steadily pushing throughout the years, essentially sandboxing apps. One of the new restrictions prevents such code injection, where the Apps code or it's functions can be altered, it's completely locked down and there is no way around it. This is why SimMaster07 killed off the project, it's simply no longer possible to do things like this on a Mac.

One solution, depending on the age of your Mac, would be to return to a pre-Catalina OS, but then you run straight into the next issue. The Mac game was updated to 64-bit code, again necessary so it could run on Catalina, but the Mac Injector can only work with the 32-bit version of SC4. Unless you already have that, you can only access the 64-bit version on the AppStore, although Apple don't force you to update Apps. Steam however, don't give you the option and even if you could somehow get or had the 32-bit version, you'll be updated to the 64-bit one as soon as you load the Steam client.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Hmm I see, and many thanks, one day like racism being a thing of the past, so too should hating Mac just because they are different should fly away. But Thank You.

I'll Just have to play Cities Skylines with my Japanese DLC's as Playing with no cheats kind of ruins the fun of SimCity 4 now :(

    ???

Sorry but contextually I'm failing to see the relevance of this. What I posted was simply the technical facts about why something no longer works, there is no emotional argument here. Not to mention, I too use a Mac/iPhone/iPad so the idea I'm a 'hater' would be rather ridiculous.

I think (?) it might have been in reference to how many programs lack full compatibility on Apple vs. Windows systems. That is, developers failing to treat Macs as equal to Windows. Not that I would have jumped straight to racism for the metaphor, myself...

Again, if that accusation is being thrown around, then it would be another big misunderstanding.

Literally after having spent the time it took to enable .dll loading on Macs, SimMaster07 was foiled by changes to MacOS. It is literally impossible to inject code into an App running under Catalina or newer, APPLE have screwed this up, it's not on developers. It'd be one thing if Apple made it default, but gave users the option to override it, but it's at the core of the OS. He didn't give up on development, he was forced to throw his hard work away, because there is no longer any way to alter the runtime of any App running on a Mac.

Oh I wasn't pointing at you, just pointing at the hate mac users seem to get, it just needs to chill down. Mac is a decent enough machine, I don't generally use it for gaming much anymore as I have an xbox one and life, so I just enjoy a bit of city building here and there. But it might of been a bit of a bad example, but it still is very similar, people just need to get past their differences and just help one another out, well one day. Anyway, thanks again. you can lock the thread if you would like to. I hope I wasn't seen as rude. I also understand that, Apple also needs to fix certain things as well, also glad to see another Mac/Apple User here o/ Also sorry if I hadn't responded straight away, was at work.
