Hi everyone.

I was wondering why this is happening and if possible how to correct this issue:

Region.jpg

As you can see from the image the problem does not occur all the time after saving city tiles and is not region specific but I'm at a loss as to why this happening and how to correct it...

Laptop Specs:

  • Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 2670QM
  • RAM: 4GB DDR3
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

Has anyone any suggestions/advice please?

Many thanks.

There must be something wrong with your savegames. Did you save your cities by clicking Save and Quit to [Region/Windows]? If you did, that might be the culprit. Another problem is the background interruption. Did you alt-tab when saving? Did the antivirus scan when saving? If did, it could be the second possibility.

Unfortunately no, I have the "Save Warning Disabled" Mod installed.

I'm beginning to think that it may have something to do with the thumbnail. If I remember correctly, you can save with a thumbnail or save without a thumbnail, correct?

Honestly it looks like some sort of graphical issue, given the age of your system there may not be a lot you can do about it.

I would try using both Full Screen and Windowed modes of the game, it’s possible one or the other works better on your system. To do that you need to add either -f or -w as a command line switch, we need to know where your install of SC4 comes from to be more specific there. Likewise you want to run the game with ideally the same resolution that your hardware supports, not doing so can cause weird problems. This may also require a special command if your display is a widescreen format or using a resolution other than offered in the default graphics options screen.

Otherwise you can try updating the drivers for your NVidia GPU. Generally speaking most NVidia cards can handle SC4s needs, but the specific driver used can make a big difference.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

@rsc204 Coincidently, I have been running in both windowed and fullscreen (through SC4 Launcher) and I have the latest (last) Nvidia driver and I'm running at 1366x768x32.

I've been terraforming my region all afternoon... Open city tile > Plant Trees > Save > Exit To Region > Open Next City Tile > Repeat...and what I've noticed is the few times that this glitch occurred, if I reopened the offending city tile, save again then exit then the glitch would correct itself (it may take a few attempts but eventually the tile sorts itself out)...

This might be the problem. Not all latest drivers are doing great with SimCity 4 because something called legacy dropping. Try to revert to older driver and see if the game works properly.
